Taking #Cre8time back to the 80's... DIY Gelly Style Resin Bracelets by Isabel Villarreal

Bracelets are a great way to accessorize and bangle bracelets are always fun, but what if you could make a flexible band bracelet in your own style and colors? As a member of the design team I've been given the great opportunity to play around with resin and explore the different possibilities.

This is Isabel  and I know you don't usually associate flexibility with resin but I'd love to share this with you to show how truly flexible resin jewelry can be.

I started by making a template using some advertising flyers by cutting and layering 4 oblong strips and adding a few fun details. I used some cameo buttons and a few 3D glitter shapes then added some foam pieces to the ends to give the bracelet some shape. All the details were held in place with removable glue dots so that I can change the design to suit my mood. Using Amazing Mold Putty, I created a mold that I could then use to make this bracelet in the colors of my choosing. Make sure your paper template fits correctly around your wrist. You'll want to leave some space for a clasp.

I used Amazing Clear Cast Resin and mixed in the barest amount of Alumilite Dye to fill the 3D shapes {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. After letting it cure for a couple of hours – I poured a slightly lighter layer of resin on top in a thin layer. The total thickness of this bracelet is about 1/8". The fact that the layer is so thin makes for a much more flexible shape. I removed it from the mold while it was still soft and allowed it to finish drying on a teflon craft sheet. The finished pieces look really cool with the shapes in a slightly contrasting color.

The edges were a little uneven so I used a file to smooth down the rougher areas, then drilled holes on each end and added some jump rings and a lobster claw to finish it off.

You can see here that the Amazing Mold Putty duplicated the shiny glitter effect – so the details have a slight glint to the surface. These bracelets are flexible and strong enough to follow the curve of your wrist and then flatten out when you take them off.

I'll be making these in a variety of colors and trying out a few different variations using other details. Now that I have my template, I can change it around to create unlimited looks.
