AMAZING Choco Coins by DeeDee Catron

HELLOOOOOOO Everyone :)

DeeDee here today to share with you a super fun use for the brand new Amazing Remelt. Tooooooooo be totally honest I wasn't that intrigued by the product at first, but after the team started using it, experimenting and posting cool bits n pieces, my interest was peaked!

With Christmas right around the corner and a 4 year old always on my heels, I've been trying to think of fun exciting ways to spice up the every day Advent Calendar. Every kiddo loves chocolate, and this mommom loves collecting weird old useless coins, so why not fill some of our days with edible delicious coins from all over the world?

Start by gathering and prepping supplies!

Boil the coins to cleanse them of all dirts, oils and
contaminants that may be on them from their years of travel.

Dry thoroughly using a paper towel or cotton towel.

Secure the now clean coins inside a container with depth and no holes.
Keep in mind this will be the shape of your mold. I found a nice shallow
butter lid that not only keeps my mold shallow, but provided lots of space
for all the different coins I thought would be fun for Gabe to see.

Get out your Amazing Remelt.
Tip : Because Amazing Remelt can be used over and over AND used for
food and non food, mark the containers for specific uses to avoid contamination.

Remove Amazing Remelt from the package and
divide into manageable and appropriate sizes for your mold.

Obtain microwave safe dish and heat Amazing Remelt until warm and liquid.

Pour over pieces!

Allow the Amazing Remelt to cure and then demold all your pieces.

Follow instructions for melting chocolate and then fill mold. I used
a paint brush to apply the chocolate in a thin layer hoping to pick up all the details.
Then I spread the chocolate across deeper, filling in all the coins.

 (click photos enlarge!)

Let cool and here you have it! A ton of different little
chocolate coins ready to fill drawers in our Advent Calendar :)
Tip : Place your mold in the fridge to help the chocolate solidify.

Look at how well the Amazing Remelt picked up the embossing of each coin. So much detail, it will be so fun to share with Gabe all the different coins from all over, and then to eat them! And just think, if I had waited a little too long to mold or my Amazing Remelt hadn't been warm enough, I could have just put it back in the microwave and started over!

Thanks for joining me today -DeeDee

Christmas Cookie Ornaments Sparkling with Surprise by Isabel Villarreal

Hi there crafters! This is Isabel with another fun holiday idea for you. I know Thanksgiving isn't over yet but I get so excited about Christmas decorating that I just couldn't wait to get started on making tree ornaments. These sparkly stars are easy to make and they even pack their own small surprise.

These ornaments are made using a cookie cutter so they can be made in any shape you want. I chose a star for these but I'll be using other shapes to make more. The plan is to make these ornaments look like sugar cookies so I started by softening a chunk of Sculpey polymer clay. Once it was ready I flattened it with a rolling pin and pressed a plastic cookie cutter into the clay. Peel away the extra clay and after removing the cookie cutter, use an exacto or small utility knife to cut away anything hanging over or any irregular edges.

I made some small resin stars for a previous project and I have a few stashed away in my box o' crafty stuff so I used one to emboss the surface of my clay star. You can use buttons or any interesting shape to create a pattern on the surface of your ornament. About 7 minutes in a toaster oven ( I use a separate toaster oven for food prep) did the trick and my clay star was ready to mold.

To make the mold I used Amazing Mold Putty {please CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. After mixing the 2 parts together until they were an even yellow color, I quickly flattened it out and pressed the baked clay face down into the putty and left it there to cure for about 10 minutes. I got a nice impression from my clay star so I was happy. When I'm working on this type of project I like to make several molds to save myself time. I made two of these molds so I could make a couple ornaments at once.

With a small soft brush I coated the star with Alumidust powder, making sure to avoid the small pressed stars inside the shape. Alumidust comes in lots of great colors, so I picked out a few to try out. For the small star impressions I used a little of the Alumilite Phosphorescent Powder.

After dusting my star mold I mixed up some Amazing Casting Resin {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. The Amazing Casting Resin starts out clear and turns a solid opaque white when it's cured, and cures in about 10 minutes depending on temperature.

When removed from the mold my new resin ornaments have a nice even color and are ready to be decorated. I made sure to remove them while they were still a little soft and leave them to finish curing on a teflon sheet. When the resin is till soft it's much easier to trim away any over pour that may have occurred. I used my handy dandy Crop-A-Dile to punch a hole at the top of each star. I threaded some string  through a small jingle bell and then through the hole at the top.

Metallic markers accent the small inner stars and I added a bow made from glitter ribbon with a  strip of iridescent thin white ribbon to hold it on place.

And here's the little added surprise – the Alumilite Phosphorescent Powder makes the ornaments glow so you have a show stopping detail after the lights are out. How cool is that!

It's #Cre8time... TAG - You're It! AMAZING Resin Present Tags with Tanya Ruffin

Christmas is a busy time, lots of presents under the tree, people tearing through packages to get to the goodies... that Christmas morning call, "hey, did you get my present?"

Wouldn't it be nice if they remembered your presents just by the wrapping, ribbon or the TAG?!

Well I have your solution!

My hubby and I have four cairn terriers. Yes, you read that right, FOUR! A few years ago I can across some cute cairn terrier pins. I bought two knowing one day I would do something with them. At the time I thought I would give one to my mom and one for myself. The other day I came across them and thought about using them to craft a tag. When I bought the pins I only had one terrier...

So I found the best arrangement of the pins so all four dogs could be seen.

Then I taped a craft stick through the back so they
wouldn't move while I was making the mold.

I then slid the craft stick out after I placed the grouping into
the Amazing Mold Putty {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}.

I then used the Alumilite Pick Set to press the pins farther down into the Amazing Mold Putty

You really need to press it down so the Amazing Mold Putty raises up between the dogs.

Fill your mold with Amazing Casting Resin {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. I even mixed some Alumilite Black Dye for resin in this mix.

My first cast I attempted to make it the same color as my dogs. I also used some copper Rub 'n Buff®, but it didn't have enough contrast. I ended up painting the whole thing with black acrylic paint.

Craft fail!

I used a Marvy tag paper punch for my package tag.

I used gold Rub 'n Buff® on the black resin dogs and glued them to the tag.

Some of my resin dog sets came out a darker black than others, but that is ok.

Now I just need to make about 30 more tags for Christmas presents so everyone will know which packages came from me!

"Don't you forget about me..."
(Sorry, I had an 80's moment)!

The real deal!

Left to right: Lily, Sassy, Sweet Pea, and Duncan.

Instead of just making resin pendants
and charms - turn them into a tag!

Project Chandelier Crystals... by Lynne Suprock

Lynne here to bring you a bit of bling today to place upon your chandelier. :-)

Gosh, I love chandeliers with lots of crystals... and I do have a few of those here at the ole homestead. They were once plain, old, light fixtures that were rescued from local discard piles.

Spider webs removed, and white spray paint in hand, anyone can bring new life to thrown away light fixtures. Additionally, adding a bit of crystal bling to any refurbished luminere, creates... m-o-o-d.

Okay. Here are pictures of one of my pieces, that is
seriously in need of more bling, of course. ;-)

Let's get started on... Project Crystals.

What you will need:

Choose a few nice glass crystals that you want to replicate.

Place some 24 gauge wire through each crystal and suspend over a recycled plastic container on a wooden stick or skewer.

If you have any unwanted mold rubber pieces around,
cut them up and throw them into the container first.

Then fill the remaining space with Amazing Mold RubberCLICK HERE to view tutorial on how to mix/prepare Amazing Mold Rubber.

Once the Amazing Mold Rubber hardens, remove the crystals. If yours are too long or too wide at the bottom, make a slit with a razor knife, vertically along the piece. Use an elastic band to secure the mold back together, before pouring the Amazing Clear Cast Resin.

Since the opening for the pour will be small diameter, bubbles in the Amazing Clear Cast Resin will not easily surface and release {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. I decided to let the resin sit for 10 or 12 minutes to allow the bubbles to break before pouring into the crystal molds.

When first mixed there are lots of bubbles.

Less bubbles after letting resin sit and rest.

The Amazing Clear Cast Resin will only be poured to the top of the mold. This will mean slightly shorter crystals than the originals which had been above the Amazing Mold Rubber, suspended with wires, in the previous step.

In 24 hours this is what the crystals looked like. They were shiny for sure, just like the originals. However, they were not glass clear. The ones I made with the Amazing Clear Cast Resin were also shorter. You could still see some of the bubbles in the resin. I was still pretty AMAZED! ;-)

Here is my Chandelier project before the extra bling and after....

Try making crystals to add to your jewelry or mixed media designs.
I cannot wait till you all give this a try!!

What would you bling up with crystals
cast in Amazing Mold Rubber?

Please share what you make with Amazing Crafting Products
