Just add a Little #Cre8time Magic... DIY Resin Pendant tutorial by Isabel Villarreal

Hi there this is Isabel and I'll be sharing how to make a pendant with glitter and beading wire. Just a few simple steps can lead to amazing results. You'll need only a few supplies that are easily found in craft stores and if you're a maker, you probably already have them in your crafting stash.

Begin with some wire, some jewelry pliers and a pendant bezel.
This bezel is from the Bottle Cap Company.

You will also need a little bit of magic (glitter), some Amazing Clear Cast Resin, and I threw in some Alumilite Dyes for resin just make it interesting.

Fill the bezel with your choice of glitter. Glitter comes in so many twinkly shapes and sizes. I confess – I'm a bit of a glitter freak so I have a box-load of glitters to choose from. For this part of the project I used regular nail glitter that you can get in small jars at a beauty supply store. I used just enough glitter to cover the bottom of the bezel then poured a small amount of Amazing Clear Cast Resin on top to keep it in place. This is to make your background, so keep the layer thin if your bezel is shallow.

While the resin and glitter were curing, I used my round nosed pliers to bend a piece of wire into a ring and then made a free flowing organic shape with the two ends. I just played around with the wire until I came up with a shape that I liked. This picture shows a few different wire styles.

Use scotch tape or packing tape on the back of the wire design. The tape will stick to one side of the design, creating a seal. I mixed up a little more Amazing Clear Cast Resin and poured it into 3 separate mixing cups {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. I added Alumilite White Dye to one and Blue Dye to the another and threw in some super fine iridescent glitter. The third batch of resin was left clear, but I still added a little super fine glitter to that. This is a small design so I carefully dropped resin into each shape using a tooth pick and let them cure.

Since the resin layers were so thin they set fairly quickly – so I folded my wire piece, bending the shape over the ring. I didn't flatten the wire completely so that it would have some dimension.

The last step is to pour a little more Amazing Clear Cast Resin into the bezel to top it off. After it cured I poured a second layer of resin to cover the wire. You can see here that the wire and resin have created a dome to give the pendant dimension.

This is the finished piece. The wire and glitzy resin sort of give the look of a cloisonne piece. And you can really see the three different resin colors I used to make this.

Celebrating Mardi Gras at #Cre8time... Embellished Resin Shot Glasses by Tanya Ruffin

Embellished shot glass filled with Lemonhead Vodka {see recipe below}.

If you know anything about Mardi Gras, two things come to mind... Beads and drinking. Now I'm not advocating drinking, but if you want to get in the Mardi Gras mood this will definitely help you!

is actually food safe?

Sure is! That means I can put a layer of resin in the bottom of a glass and it still be safe to drink out of!

Start with some tall shot glasses. I found mine in a three pack at the Dollar store.

I took a few beads of green, purple and gold (you know, the colors of Mardi Gras) and placed in the bottom 1/3 of the glass. I wanted to leave enough space in the glass to actually have a shot! Mix a small amount of clear resin according to directions and let resin sit about 15 minutes for the bubbles rise to the top. Then slowly pour over my beads.

Let cure and you are ready to laissez les bon temps rouler!

That is "let the good time roll" for all you non–Louisianians!

Other ideas... charms, dried flowers, candied hearts, shells, etc...

For a variation on this technique, see my tutorial on making Souvenir Glasses.

AMAZING #Cre8time ways to Transform Everyday Things... by Maria Soto

Hi there, this is Maria and today I bring you a post that shows you how easy it is to take everyday items and turn them into something totally new. I was at work one day and during my lunch break I looked around and noticed that I had some office supplies and other things around that I could use to make some fun jewelry vessels.

I had this plastic compact mirror that we got from my daughter's school when she registered. I keep make up in my office – just in case I'm in the mood to wear any (this only happens like twice a year). So I looked around and well I found a few more things to play with. I always have Amazing Mold Putty with me, in my purse and in my office – you just never know when you might find something fun and interesting that you would like to make a mold of and keep handy for a special project later on.

Amazing Mold Putty is very easy to use and also very easy to carry. You can use empty prescription bottles, plastic sandwich bags, etc. to carry it – you get the idea! Small containers that allow you to carry small amounts of this awesome putty.

Amazing Mold Putty comes in two containers, one is labeled part "A" and the other is part "B". You must take equal amounts of each part "A" and part "B" as you can see on the photo below. CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation.

Amazing Mold Putty Parts "A" & "B"

Now mix them together until you have a solid yellow color, without swirling, as you will see in the photos below. Keep in mind that this product sets pretty fast – so I recommend you always have your item or items ready for molding, otherwise your mold putty will set before you start.

Take equal parts of Amazing Mold Putty...

Mix it well.

Ready for molding!

I rolled out the Amazing Mold Putty as you can see below, then placed the objects I wanted to make molds out of on the putty. The item you see wrapped with lace, is my Bobby Brown eyeliner bottle. I wrapped the lace around it because I wanted the shape from the bottle and the texture from the lace. You can also see I took apart the plastic compact and used both lids, also the lid from one of my office stamps, and a round make up container. I also took the lid from my disinfecting wipes container. I felt these items would make for some interesting vessels.

Now, it only took about ten minutes for the Amazing Mold Putty to cure, and as you can see below, I have six (6) new molds that I can use in my projects later on. I can't wait to try these molds out on some jewelry making project, or maybe mixed media. Who knows what else I can use these molds for – and I think I will find many creative ways to use these molds. This product is amazing in so many ways, to mention a few: it's very easy to use, easy to carry, and captures every tiny little detail from the objects you use, and it sets about 10 minutes.

I really hope that this post will inspire to you give this product a try if you haven't yet. Look around you... at home, at work, anywhere you might be – you will find many things that you can use to make molds and to create with.

AMAZING Inspiration at the Bottom of a Bottle...
by Lynne Suprock

Lynne Suprock here for Amazing Casting Products – ready to ring in the new year with some new jewelry inspiration! In a recent tutorial post, I demonstrated how to add a little extra bling to wine cork necklaces by dipping the pieces in Amazing Casting Resin {CLICK HERE to see tutorial refresher}.

Today I would like to share a little inspiration for creating glass bottle necklaces with an encaustic waxed layered look. Mine also hold a little bit of summer sand and a few choice, whimsical words to make these Amazing Dipped Bottle Necklaces.

Amazing Casting Resin is the perfect choice for adding a little something extra to the glass! By adding a drop of Alumilite Dyes when mixing, the resin can closely resemble paraffin or beeswax. However, unlike wax, the Amazing Casting Resin adheres to this bottle glass necklace very well.

This waxy effect is achieved by making a mold of the glass bottle bottom, using Amazing Mold Putty. Once the mold is firm, submerse the bottle into a bit of colored resin that you have poured into the bottom of the cured mold. Dip bottle into the resin several times, then suspend for several minutes to let the excess drip off. Sit the bottle on a non-stick surface, and let the resin completely harden another several minutes.

Complete instructions for these yummy necklaces can be found in this Winter's 2015 issue of Belle Armoire Jewelry Magazine.

What creative magic would you capture in a bottle?

I would love if you would leave a comment below to let us know how this technique works for you! Please share what you make with Amazing Casting Products on our website in the User Gallery.

#Cre8time Double Duty COOL TOOLS for Arting...
by Susan M. Brown {sbartist}

Welcome to another Mold Rubber MondaySusan here to share some molding and casting techniques to make yourself some Cre8time tools for mixed media using Amazing Mold Rubber... to give me thin resin shapes or layers for embedding in my mixed media creations.

Remember Lonnie's post from a couple weeks back where he shared how to make DIY colored resin sheets/film for arting?? Well - that set me off running on a tangent while I was preparing things to demo using Amazing Mold Rubber at the Winter 2015 Craft and Hobby Association Mega Show. Thanks to Lyneen Jesse for catching a quick glimpse of us in action amongst all the hustle and bustle.

Amazing Mold Rubber is available at Hobby Lobby and Micheals Stores, other retail locations and also at the moldputty.com website – so please feel free to search our archives and get inspired and excited about mold-making and casting... and MORE!

Amazing Mold Rubber is an easy to use, high strength liquid silicone mold making rubber that is strong, soft and flexible - great for undercut parts and cures in approx. four hours. Amazing Mold Rubber is a two-part liquid rubber used to make extremely elastic molds to produce quick and exact reproductions of your original. Replicas can then be cast in Amazing Casting ResinAmazing Clear Cast Resin for plastic parts - or use other materials such as plaster, wax, clay or polyester... and that's just the beginning to all the fabulous uses just waiting to be discovered!

What I did... I made a double duty
Amazing No-Gelatin Printing Plate!

Started with using some recycled packaging courtesy of Ranger
as a mold box and a transporter for my new tool.

I spray mounted the base of the container and placed in varyied sizes of microscope slides {you know you all are hoarding these too} and small glass tiles. I had some empty space, so a cut up wooden stir stick as well.

Filled in with about a 1/2" of Amazing Mold Rubber and when cured I will have a monoprinting slab on the top... AND...

...perfect pristine molded glass slide voids on the other!

Perfect for creating 1/16" tiles or thin resin sheets and layering items for embedding.

I had fun experimenting with this double duty COOL TOOL that has another AMAZING No-Gelatin Rubber Plate on the other side. The glossy detail of the glass slides has been captured beautifully and transfer perfectly to the clear resin pour! I gave a few of my examples away at CHA and I'm looking forward to see what crafty goodness comes of them.

What items would you love to cast
