Hello AMAZING fans!! Rachel Whetzel here!! I'm here today, to show you how I most recently used Amazing Mold Putty and Amazing Casting Resin to create a piece of art work. This month, I created a piece using a vintage picture frame that I found at the thrift store. I love the frame, and I've used it before on a doll that I made. The problem was, that when I made the doll, I used the frame! I didn't think I would be able to make anything else with it. Then I found a second frame just like the first, and it hit me. I could make a mold from the new frame, and NEVER have to worry about finding another frame at the thrift store!!
To create your piece like this, you'll need the following:
- A vintage frame
- Spray paint
- Craft Paint (I prefer Folk Art Acrylic)
- Dictionary pages
- Elmer's glue
- Amazing Mold Putty
- Amazing Casting Resin
- Washi Tape
- Flowers made with Creative Paperclay®
Make your mold by mixing equal parts "A" and "B" Amazing Mold Putty. Once your mold has cured, mix equal parts "A" and "B" Amazing Casting Resin and fill your mold.
Once the casting resin has cured, you can remove it from the mold.
Here's a picture of my original frame, in case you'd like to see it.
I planned to do some layering in my paints to achieve an aged look, so I spray painted my frame in black paint. Once that was dry, I painted over the black with aqua craft paint. When the aqua was mostly dry, I took a wet washcloth and rubbed off the craft paint from all the high spots on the frame.
Next, I prepared my background with dictionary pages and washi tape.
I love drizzled paints, so I did that too.
Then I glued the background to the frame. I also glued the sides with dictionary paper.
Do you have a piece that
you may not ever find a replacement for?
If you create something inspired by my project, please leave a comment with a link here, so I can come and visit to see! I would love for you to visit me at my "house" too!! Thank you so much for reading!! ~ rachel
