Cardmaking is quick and easy with embossing folders and we particularly love them for making our own embellishments with Amazing Crafting Products. In the Happy Birthday with Love card, designer Susan M. Brown applied Ranger Distress Stains into the Cuttlebug Happy Birthday collage embossing folder, placed in a natural cardstock and ran through the Cuttlebug to make a quick and easy background. To finish off the card she added a dimensional heart molded in Amazing Mold Putty; then cast with Amazing Casting Resin, Red Plum Alumidust and Stampendous Mica Flakes.
To make the heart coordinate with the card base, she rubbed the resin heart with Liquitex Pyrrole Red Acrylic Ink. It gives that pop of red, but lets the shimmer of the mica flakes shine though. Mounted on a navy blue card base, this card is colorful with texture and a little dimension, too!

my Favorited embossing technique is to spray my paper with water before dry embossing, It loosens the fibers of the paper and less likely to tear on those intricate folders. works pretty well,

ReplyDeleteI just did the distress paint on the inside of a folder, sprayed with water and then rubbed it - no embossing - just the design on the paper - loved the design you got and every time you do it it turns out different thanks for support OWH

hmmm...I think my favorite embossing folder technique is..using the folders to enboss the envelopes. I will take a folder and emboss the flap of the emvelope or just about an ince or so on the side. Really adds a special touch but oh so quick to do. Thanks for the chance to win.

ReplyDeleteFavorite embossing technique is to emboss a variety of metallic sheets and making a quilt pattern out of them. I adore the way you have done the Happy Birthday coloring. Need to explore your blog more!

ReplyDeleteWow, I love that tie die look. I like to run white core colored cardstock through with the folder, then sanding off the raised parts, giving it a kind of grunge texture multi-color look.
ReplyDeleteYour card is so neat with all those splotches of wonderful color. Now and then I take only a portion of the embossing folder and add a design to one corner only. Then I also like to use the same embossing folder design on the envelope too so they go together well.
ReplyDeleteThe Red, White & Blue coloring on your card is fabulous!!! love the look. I don't do anything special with all my embossing folders.. I just emboss with them. When I am making multiples of cards, I do emboss two at a time, or more, depending on the size of the piece being embossed.

Cool techniques! My fav embossing folder technique is to put ink directly onto the folder and then insert CS, Run through the cuttlebug and you end up with a really fun impression that is all ready inked. Fun!

ReplyDeleteI like to use gelatos and rub onto my embossing folders then spritz with water and run through my vagabond..... I also have put glue onto my folders then when dry peeled it off and used it in my art journal for texture....

ReplyDeleteWell I usually just use embossing folders as they are but I occasionally apply ink to the inside to the negative space.

But did just learn about adding some liquid appliqué over the embossed image to add more dimension so I've been doing that lately.
