No-Sew Patriotic Scarf-lace with Resin and Fabric... a Tutorial by Tanya Ruffin

Patriotic Scarf-lace by Tanya Ruffin for Amazing Mold Putty

This project first came to mind after I spied some toy soldiers at the dollar store... Hmmm, what to make??? So I made a mold and cast the soldiers, I painted them army green and they were adorable. I thought about just putting a jump ring on it and making a charm, but how boring is that? AND I was a day late for Memorial Day... so next up, 4th of July!!

I found some flag fabric in my stash drawer (why I have fabric, I have no idea since I cant sew worth a poop) and thought to use it as a necklace base.

I had recently purchased some cool army dies from Die-Versions and thought the eagle would be an awesome centerpiece to my Patriotic Scarf-lace.  So, here is what I did...

Materials:

First I cut my fabric to the shape of a bandanna.

Fold in half and then cut in a triangle shape.
Keep folded in half for cutting fringe.

Cut fringe and slide pony beads on.

**One tip**... Use a open paper clip to help feed the fabric through the bead.

Now mold and cast your soldiers. I found mine at the dollar store. You will need to clip off the stand of each and file and trim some of the edges.

I added Alumilite Blue Dye to the Amazing Casting Resin so I would have vivid blue pieces {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. The army green didn't seem to work with the bright flag pattern.

Glue a pony bead to the back of the soldier so you can slide the soldier on the fringe. The weight of the soldier may make it slide off, so I tied a knot under it.

Now you are going to make the eagle. I used the box from a 12 pack of Sam's colas. Punch 4 or 5 Die-Versions Eagles out and glue them together.

What Die can you try?

Glue a pony bead in the center (I used a smaller bead) and slide in the center of the scarf-lace with the soldiers flanking. Tie a knot under each soldier and the eagle.

How amazing is this?

I even went back and made a mold of the back of the soldiers.
They were just as nice as the front side.

Our finished project came out Amazing!
You can tie it around your neck or add a necklace clasp to it.

How would you embellish
your own Patriotic Scarf-lace?
