AMAZING Angel Wings

Amazing Mold Putty!! This product is perfectly named. It is amazing – there is no end to the things that you can mold with this easy-to-use medium. You just take equal parts of "A" (which is white) and "B" (which is yellow), and knead them together – just like working with clay – until they are completely combined and there are no streaks. Depending on the size of the piece of putty, this generally took me between 20 and 30 seconds. Next, roll the putty between your palms to form a smooth ball. {You know – like making cloverleaf dinner rolls. Anybody remember that???} Then, press the putty around the object that you are molding. It helps to press one side flat so the mold is stable when filling with casting resin.

Carole here to share a couple of projects with you. This month is all about angel wings. Here are the angel wing molds that I made.

Before filling the molds with clear cast resin, I dusted them with Alumilite Metallic Pearlescent Powder. I wanted a high gloss on the lavender wing, so I coated it with Glossy Accents before adding the rhinestones. I also used Glossy Accents to adhere the pendant bail.

My second angel wing project was this greeting card.

I adapted an SVG file of a Victorian gift tag and glued those layers onto my background paper. I used a Martha Stewart corner punch on the background paper. The background paper with the Victorian gift tag were glued onto cardstock to form the front of the card.

Remember that I dusted the molds with Alumilite Metallic Pearlescent Powder prior to casting the resin. For this wing I used a mix of copper and bronze powders. I dusted a bit of gold mica powder along the edges of the wing for added highlights after I unmolded it. I used hot glue to secure the stickpin to the flat back of the wing. A double bow accented with a rhinestone completes the embellishments.
