Dracula takes a Quick #Cre8time Bite of Halloween by Tracy Alden

Hello! Tracy here with another Amazing Casting Products tutorial! This year I am going with a vampire food theme for Halloween treats and needed to decorate cupcakes in a fast and fun way. While it would have been okay to just put plastic vampire fangs on each cupcake, I wanted to make the fangs an edible candy treat!

Supplies:

I cleaned two child sized vampire fangs, with soap and water to prepare them for molding. I placed them on a black dinner plate so I had a smooth and contrasting surface to work on.

I mixed up some Amazing Mold Putty{CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}, and molded it around the front portions of the vampire fangs. I was careful to press the Mold Putty up against the fangs to make sure I got a good molding of the fangs.

Once the Mold Putty was cured I removed the plastic fangs. To close up the grove created by the gum portion of the vampire fangs I mixed up and pressed tiny little wads of Mold Putty into the open portion of the mold as seen in the above photo. By doing this I would be able to place melted candy into the molds with no worry of the candy leaking out the back of the fang mold.

To keep the molds upright I placed a small teacup plate inside the large dinner plate and placed the molds snug inside the dinner plate and against the teacup plate. This will keep the molds in place while the candy is piped into the molds.

Following the manufacturer instructions, I carefully melted the Wilton Candy Melts in a sandwich bag in the microwave. Once the candy was melted I snipped the end off a corner of the sandwich baggie and pipped the candy into the molds.

**A TIP** Make sure the candy is completely cooled before removing from the mold to make sure you don't break off a fang. A quick trip in the refrigerator is a sure way to help your candy along!

I made up a batch of Red Velvet cupcakes, applied blue-grey tinted icing, dribbled some Wilton Blood Red Glitter Gel Icing and carefully placed a set of candy fangs on each cupcake.

I had so much fun making the candy fangs, I made more than I needed for the cupcakes – the extra fangs made a fun addition to cranberry cocktails!

One Skull or Two... #Cre8time Creepy Cocktails with Alumilite

With Halloween right around the corner... our Cre8time party planning and holiday decor is in full swing. Today we have a creepy-cool project to share featuring a product from Alumilite that can be used to create food-safe silicone molds – custom skull ice cube mold using Alumilite Plat 10.

Alumilite is the company who produces all of the Amazing Casting Products you all know and LOVE – and also products for DIY fishing lures and rock climbing holds... and much more!

This project starts with two plastic skull party favors. To create an ice cube mold, one would want to make many cubes at a time. So first a mold will be made to cast these two skulls in order to make 12 blank masters which can be done with Amazing Mold Rubber and Amazing Casting Resin.

Watch to see more of this amazing process...

If you have trouble viewing video, please CLICK HERE.

After creating twelve resin skull blanks, these are mounted into a new mold box where the Plat 10 silicone is poured to create a new custom skull ice cube mold. This is so creepy cool!

Plat 10 is a platinum based silicone mold making rubber that when cured yields a soft and pliable 10A rubber. Plat 10 complies with FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 and can be used for making molds for delicate castings including chocolate, fondant, sugar... and ice cubes, too!

The Alumilite yellow Plat 10 Mold is FDA Compliant... meaning this is food safe! This is so AMAZING!!! With this product you can have the detail and versatility of Amazing Mold Rubber {not FDA compliant}, but with a silicone product that is FOOD-SAFE.

How would embellish your cocktails?

Put a CORK in IT... #Cre8time Wine and Cheese Decor by Brenda Burfeind

Brenda from Creativity is a State of Mind here today. I want to show you something I created for a display at work. I recently got a job at a wine store where we only sell South Dakota wines. My boss found out that I like to decorate and make things and has asked me to make the displays. While I am having fun doing this, it's hard to figure out what I should do with the limited "fun" things she has for me to work with. Off to my grandkids' play sets I go ...

I knew they had a wedge of cheese in their dishes set and Amazing Mold Rubber was going to do the trick. I pulled out a butter dish I had and hot glued my wedge of cheese in it.

I added scrap bits and pieces of cured mold rubber that I keep for bigger projects. You just need to surround your piece with them so you don't have to use so much of the mixed up mold rubber.

Then I mixed up my Amazing Mold Rubber following the manufacturers directions {you can see a video tutorial here}. It set up in about 6 hours. Set up times vary by humidity.

After the mold had cured, I mixed up a batch of Amazing Clear Cast Resin with some of the Yellow Alumilite Dye, then poured it into my mold {you can see mixing instructions here}. I wanted to have a void in my resin piece, so I created a wedge of Amazing Mold Putty in the shape of a point.

I strung the wedged piece and hung it from a paintbrush
just high enough to give a void inside the resin as it cured.

and now I have a cute holder for a wine bottle stopper – plus since I made it with Amazing Clear Cast Resin... it's food safe too!

Here is the display I created for the store. I think my boss will like it!

I hope you've enjoyed my faux cheese wedge
tutorial created with Amazing Casting Products.

The possibilities are endless!

Thanks for coming and viewing my tutorial and please leave
a comment and let me know what you think.

I hope you will hop over to my blog, Creativity is a State of Mind
sometime and check out the fun things I've created.

Until next time, ~ Brenda

#Cre8time Pumpkin Favors filled with Thanksgiving Treats...

Greetings Amazing – welcome to our final day of PUMPKIN WEEK! Susan here to share some DIY treats for the Thanksgiving table settings. Not only did I mold my real mini pumpkins using Amazing Mold Rubber – I made a few molds for molding chocolates and other sweet treats using Amazing Remelt, and Amazing Mold Putty. If you missed my faux iced birthday pumpkin, CLICK HERE and to jump over to view my faux gilded pumpkins HERE.

Amazing Remelt and Wilton Candy Melts both melt down in minutes in the microwave making custom sweet treats like a pro quick and easy.

First I selected a tapered glass bowl deep enough to fully cover my pumpkin, then melted down a container of Amazing Remelt using the lowest setting on my microwave in thirty second increments until it was completely liquified.

**A TIP** I poured a small amount into my bowl and let cool a bit before placing pumpkin in it. ALSO, I dipped the top of the pumpkin into the liquid remelt to coat the stem and let any air bubbles release before fully covering with Amazing Remelt.

After cooling in the refrigerator for a while {it was all day since I had to go to work}, I removed the mold from the bowl. I gently cut the mold in half using a sharp Xacto knife and released the pumpkin. Now I'm ready to make some chocolate mini pumpkins.

I melt down the Wilton Candy Melts following the directions for microwave in a pourable pyrex measuring cup. I scooped the melted chocolate in the Amazing Mold Putty mini pumpkin, on both sides of mold, filling completely. I placed the top half of the mold aligned to my marks and placed in refrigerator to chill and harden.

I repeated by filling the Amazing Remelt mold and spread chocolate to evenly coat edges and leave center open – this pumpkin I will fill with an assortment of roasted seeds/nuts and mini dark chocolate chips... a perfect edible favor for the table settings.

The chocolate hardens very quickly – then I can remove, set aside on a tray in the fridge and make another set. These are fun to make and can made well in advance of the Thanksgiving Day feast!

What will you transform
into edible art with
Amazing Casting Products??

A Valentine's Day REMELT... Can You Taste the Difference by Lynne Suprock

Hi all! Lynne Suprock here again for a February Amazing Casting Products Design Team tutorial. 'Tis the month where chocolate is in the hearts and on the minds of most Valentine's Day traditionalists. Today I want to share a cool way to celebrate the holiday with friends, taste testing chocolate of course!

I began by opening a box from one of my favorite chocolatiers and selecting a few pieces to set aside as samples to be later eaten. Then I used the empty box inserts and Amazing Remelt to make replicas of the select pieces, only using my own chocolate concoctions to do it. Mwa-hahaha.

Everyone gets to sample all of the chocolates and then see if they could guess the pieces that are the real deal. Lot's of fun!

In the second half of the video, I combine Amazing Remelt and Amazing Mold Putty to make a signature chocolate heart piece... as good to look at as it is to eat. Enjoy the video tutorial!

Will you be my Speculaas Valentine? Amazing Cast COOKIES by Tracy Alden

Hello! Tracy here with another Amazing Casting Products inspired project! Once again I got to thinking about the many food applications of Amazing Remelt. I wanted to create a edible Valentine, a cookie but not something with icing but with a sentiment molded into the cookie. I started searching for cookie recipes that could be molded and retain a molded imprint even after baking. I found Speculaas cookies would be my best choice for molded cookies.

Traditionally made for the Feast of St. Nicholas, Speculaas cookies are often molded into all kinds of shapes and patterns. While there is some debate on where the name comes from, some feel it might come from the Latin word speculum, which translates as mirror and refers to the delicate molds carved in mirrored bas-relief that are used to embellish the cookies. Many wonderful vintage molds can be found and many bakers collect and display them when not using them to make cookies. Speculaas cookies have gained popularity as Dutch Windmill cookies and as the most common cookie used to create Cookie Butter. Speculaas cookies are crisp, buttery, have a wonderful warm spice flavor and are a great compliment to tea and coffee.

In the process of searching for the perfect Speculaas cookie recipe I stumbled on a wonderful blog called The Dutch Baker's Daughter by Cathy Wiechert. I had tried other recipes but Cathy Wiechert's Speculaas Recipe worked perfect in the molds I created, had the best flavor and made my house smell delicious while baking!

To create the molds I wasn't about to carve them out of wood as traditionally done since I am not much of a wood carver, nor did I have the time, so Amazing Remelt was my answer. I needed to create originals to mold a mirror image but I didn't think fondant was going to get the detail I wanted so I did something somewhat unorthodox. I used chipboard scraps and cut outs, raw pieces I had never coated or treated with crafting materials. Carefully I glued them together with water based non-toxic glue.

I sealed each chipboard pieces with a non-toxic water based sealer {I could have also coated them with a layer of Amazing Clear Cast Resin that is also food safe}, and lightly glued them to the inside of a reused plastic salad food tray to act as mold box. I then liberally sprayed them with cooking spray to act as a mold release and blotted the excess with a paper towel.

I heated up the Amazing Remelt in my microwave and from a 12 -15 inch distance I poured the Amazing Remelt in the mold box, directly in the middle of each chipboard piece {CLICK HERE to view preparation}. The distance gives the Remelt a chance to release more bubbles before cooling and by pouring directly onto the pieces, the more Remelt you pour the more it will drag air bubbles away from the detailed surface. I used a small toothpick to drag bubbles caught in the chipboard swirls and words before the Amazing Remelt cooled to make sure I get a clean casting.

Once the Amazing Remelt was cooled, no longer warm or sticky to the touch, I was able to carefully remove the chipboard pieces. While some of the cooking spray seeped into the chipboard pieces I was able to dry them out and reuse them for more molds.

Since the cooking spray always seems to leave the Amazing Remelt a bit gooey, I had to gently clean the molds with cold water to remove oil left from the casting process and left to air dry on a cutting board.

*Careful not to keep the Amazing Remelt mold in the water too long as water will eventually start to dissolve the mold.

Before molding the cookies the cookie dough must rest overnight in the fridge, giving it time to let the spices fully flavor the dough. The Amazing Remelt molds must be dusted with flour EACH time you want to mold a cookie so the dough will not stick to the mold. I rolled out the chilled dough and cut pieces close to the size of each molded design.

I placed the dough into the molds, carefully pressing the dough into the mold tightly to ensure I was catching all of the detail. I gently rolled a lightly floured rolling pin back and forth over the mold to smooth the dough and even out the shape.

I then carefully placed the mold, with the cookie dough still inside, face down on a chilled marble cutting board. I then peeled back the mold and the cookie will generally stick to the cold marble. If there is any dough still inside the mold carefully remove it with a tooth pick and place it on the cookie. With my hands lightly floured I was able to place each cookie about an inch apart on a non-stick cookie sheet and I then repeated this process until I had several dozen cookies on cookie trays.

I then placed each tray into the refrigerator to chill for about an hour before baking them to help retain the molded details. Once cooled the cookies can be wrapped up and given as Valentine treats!
