COOKING up some #Cre8time Fun! AMAZING Food Safe Inspiration from Rachel Whetzel

hot peppers in soy sauce

Recently, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that effects how my body absorbs nutrients. In my research on my disease, I read a lot about how beneficial fermented foods are for the gut. I already love Kim-chi and Sauerkraut, which are both traditionally made through fermentation, so I began to look into the process. That started my newest adventure into lacto fermentation. To ferment, you need to have a Fermenting Crock, and most of them come with TWO PART WEIGHTS that weigh your ferment product down, and hold it under the brine surface to keep molds and bad bacteria from growing. I ordered some ceramic weights from a small etsy seller, but I wanted to get started on my fermenting NOW!! It was killing me to weight. (heh heh... see what I did there?) As I was talking to my mom about wishing I could get started now, I remembered that Amazing Mold Putty is FOOD SAFE!! I could use it to create my own weights!

So I created the weights in the image above, and placed it in the top of my jar, as you can see. Then I placed my lids with their air locks on top, and all the items to be fermented are below the brine surface! I also used some Amazing Mold Putty to create seal rings for my lids just inside the top, but I don't have a picture of that. Basically, I used Amazing Mold Putty to duplicate a ring like THIS

Here are my ferments happily making probiotics for me.
I can't wait to see how the weights work for my ferments!

My inspiration for you this month is to remember just HOW versatile Amazing Mold Putty really IS!! Being food safe, and easy to cut with scissors once it's cured makes it so simple to create things like seal rings, and even fermentation weights!! You are really truly only limited by your imagination.

Thanks for reading! If you'd like to keep up with me, and see more of what I'm up to, I'd also love it if you'd visit MY BLOG and Subscribe! I'm still working on other media pieces to put on the necklace, so subscribing will help you ensure you get updates when I share the rest! You can also find me on FACEBOOK! ~ rachel

Moving Inspired #Cre8time... Casted Furniture Pendant by Featured Artist Melony Miller Bradley

Hello Amazing Creatives! I'm Melony, Featured Artist for Amazing Crafting Products for March. I have a fun pendant project to share using Amazing Clear Cast Resin and an ordinary household item... furniture casters.

While moving the couch the other day from one room in my home to another, I noticed these wood furniture casters I had been using under the legs to keep the couch from moving. They are made from wood and seemed to be the perfect size for a large pendant. I decided to use them with my Amazing Clear Cast Resin. These casters can be purchased at home improvement stores in packages of four.

I wanted to change the finish of the wood and use these tiny laser cut wood birds in my design as well. I painted all the pieces dark brown and then dry brushed them with white paint.

To design the pendant, I traced a circle from an old book page cut it out. I used the bottom of a large paint bottle, since that was the approximate size of the circle. I used decoupage medium to adhere paper into the disc and also as a sealer to protect the resin from soaking through the paper. I let this completely dry before proceeding.

I then arranged components inside the circle, including some stones and some rhinestone trim, and then glued the pieces down.

When dry, I then mixed the Amazing Clear Cast Resin using equal parts of "A" and "B" (3 units each) and poured it into the circle. Please CLICK HERE to view preparation/mixing of Amazing Clear Cast Resin.

I love making these pendants because the process is fast and fun!

Thank you for joining me today. I hope you enjoyed my project!

Melony Miller Bradley... an AMAZING Featured Artist Spotlight

Good Morning! Today we bring you a fun Q&A with our Featured Artist for March Melony Miller Bradley - and we'll get to know her a little better! Enjoy :) Sb

Some fun questions for the inquiring minds...

• • • • •

What did you want to be when you grew up?
"I distinctly remember not being able to decide between an artist, performer or a veterinarian. I always loved doing anything creative but had a really hard time imagining being able to make a "career" of being in art. I performed extensively in high school and college so I also dreamed of going to Broadway! I was never very good but the confidence and communication skills I took away from it have proved invaluable. I am an avid animal lover but hate the sight of blood."

Coke or Pepsi???
"Not even a question needed when talking to a Georgian. We didn't even refer to soda by their brand names. When we ask for a coke, people know what we mean even though they may only serve Pepsi products, which is rare where I grew up."

What inspires you?

"A beautiful sunny day with a gentle breeze, a night of really good rest and exercise."

What is the TOP thing to do on your "Bucket LIST"?

"That's a hard one since I have so many. I studied the Spanish language and culture in college and was immediately intrigued to learn about the Galapagos Islands. It is where Darwin derived his theory of evolution from. A place on earth virtually untouched fascinates me."

Topographical map of Galápagos Islands via Wikipedia

If you could print any phrase
on a T-shirt, what would it say?

"You cant use up creativity, the more you use the more you have."
... by Maya Angelou. I guess we are taking a really small font here.

If you could mold ANYTHING with
Amazing Mold Putty, what would it be?

"I would love to try and mold some of my Grandmother's vintage jewelry!"

What style of music gets your creative juices going?

"I became a licensed Zumba instructor in 2008 and have loved
Latino music, namely Reggeaton, ever since."

Spring has Sprung with Fancy Flowers... AMAZING Inspiration from Melony Miller Bradley our Featured Artist for March

Hello Amazing Creatives! Today we have some "SPRINGTIME" inspiration from our Featured Artist Melony Miller Bradley using Amazing Crafting Products. Melony has created a set of fanciful napking rings - ready for the new season ahead.

Fancy Flowers Napkin Rings

I love creating custom tableware such as linens, tablecloths and napkin rings. Spring has been a long time coming this year so I was inspired to create these napkin rings using Amazing Mold Putty, Amazing Casting/Clear Cast Resins and Alumilite Metallic Powders.

I used a mold provided by a friend, dusted with Alumilite Metallic Powders, then filled with Amazing Casting Resin to create the flower used in this design. Then I used Amazing Clear Cast Resin to create a clear coating for the front. I mounted it on a wood napkin ring and used a rub on sentiment on the resin.

A perfect set ready to serve
Sunday Brunch in the garden!

Thanks so much for dropping by! Check back Friday for another project by our Featured Artist Melony Miller Bradley... you don't want to miss it! CLICK HERE to head on over to Melony's site Mel Designs and check out more of her amazing work.

Have a fantastic day! :) Sb

#Cre8time for FURbabies! Cheap and Easy Springy Dog Collar by Tanya Ruffin

Spring has sprung, but in Louisiana we usually have 2 seasons, Winter and Summer... So Spring to me means Summer is on it's way. I just returned from a cruise and beautiful tropical flowers were everywhere. This collar reminds of Jamaica and summer (and another cruise). The project was very cheap and easy to make. I think I will start on a Halloween collar too!

I used Amazing Crafting Products and dollar store items!

Materials:

Cheap project. Cost $2.00 cash and supplies on hand!

Steps:

The first thing I did was take my collar out of the package and decide where I wanted the flowers to go. I marked the collar with a pen and punched holes using a  Crop-A-Dile.

I then put E6000® on a Q-tip and ran it through
and around each hole so the collar wouldn't fray.

The collar was woven and would start to unravel if I skipped this step.

The next step is to pour your resin. I mixed some Alumilite Violet Dye with the Amazing Casting Resin to get a light purple {CLICK HERE to view how to prepare/mix resin}. Then pour the resin into the ice cube tray. As it is just about to set up I place my brads in, letting them sink in a little – but not so much that they fall to the bottom of the tray.

After the resin sets up, I mixed up some more Amazing Casting Resin – this time leaving it white, then pour another layer of resin into each mold. I only pour enough to cover the bottom of the brads, so they are sealed in.

You can see the second layer curing.

When completely cured (about 20 minutes),
pop out your pieces and attach to the collar.

How Stinking Adorable is This?

Quick and easy project. The hardest part was trying to get one of my dogs to sit still long enough to get a photo! Two dogs (daddy and daughter) were used to get these photos. :)

What can you make with brads?

Until next time! ~ Tanya
