#Cre8time Transformations... DIY Easter Gift by Brenda Burfeind

Good day and Happy Easter everyone! Brenda here and today I want to share a project I made for my Mom for Easter. I received this cross awhile back and I love it dearly, but it's a bit heavy. Of course, since the Amazing Casting Resin is so lightweight, I decided to use it to make a lighter version of the cross to use as an embellishment.

I started with my Amazing Mold Putty and making a mold for my cross. Since the cross is a bit larger I had to mold it in chunks. You don't want to try to mold something bigger all at once since the mold putty sets up rather quickly {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. I started with the top half and let it set up; then mixed up another batch and pressed it onto the started portion and formed around to complete the bottom half.

After I mixed up a batch of Amazing Casting Resin colored with a little bit of Bubblegum Alumidust. CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation. I poured the resin into my mold and it sets up within 10-15 minutes. I can't wait to pull it out of the mold!

The cross has so much detail, but it's hard to see like this!

For Christmas I received some Art-C products that I have been dying to try out. They are similar to rub and buff and I knew these would bring out the beauty and detail of this cross.

The gold and silver combination is stunning!

Now here you can see how "thick" the original cross is – and I can control how "thick" or "skinny" I want to make my resin duplicate within the mold by how much or how little resin I pour into my mold.

Because the resin piece is so lightweight I was able to attach it to my paper flower heart with just some hot glue without "smashing" the roses. I put a hanger on the back and its ready for gifting!

#Cre8time Jewels for all the Little Ghouls... by Brenda Burfeind

Good day all! Brenda here from Creativity is a State of Mind and today we are hopping along with the artists from the Designer Crafts Connection who have taken on the challenge of creating with Amazing Casting Products.

You won't believe I came up with for our bloghop...

Now of course you may want to start with your mold (you can create your own molds quick and easy using the Amazing Mold Putty), but if by chance you don't have a mold you can find things that you could use as such.

For today's project I used these pill packets that I got at a flea market. They have perfect little cavities for creating bezels.

First I sprayed some mold release into each cavity and let that dry (this is a VERY IMPORTANT STEP). If I don't use a mold release, the resin may become fused to the plastic packaging and not able to be removed.

I added my fabulous array of colors of the Alumidust with a paintbrush and just sorta scattered the color in. Then I added a little bit of glitter here and there in some of the cavities.

I mixed up some of the Amazing Clear Cast Resin (you can see mixing instructions HERE) and stirred in some Alumilite Phosphorescent Powder (this additive glows in the dark).

I let this mixture set for about 3-5 minutes to get rid of any air bubbles, then I gently poured the resin mixture straight from my cup – and by letting it drip out so as to not overfill the cavities.

You will want to put this in a level place and let them cure for about 12 to 24 hours depending on your climate. Mine actually cured in about 8 hours, but it varies at times.

After they cured, I popped them out of the cavities and viola...
perfect resin bezels.

And they GLOW!!!

Now, I know you are thinking... "but what did she do with them"? Well, I used my Silhouette and cut out some little pumpkin faces from vinyl and adhered them to the bezels.

Then I added some jewelry findings to make THESE...

Using my Dremel, I drilled a tiny hole through the top at an angle through the resin – just large enough to add a jump rings to attach earring findings... and just like that I now have some awesome halloween earrings!

LOVE THEM!

They look sooooo creepy in the dark. The glitter really helps with that.

#Cre8time Skull Candy... by Kristie Taylor

Hello everyone! Kristie Taylor here today... and I just love Halloween! It is by far my favorite holiday! Why you ask... well its because I have always been a little weird in the fact that I like skulls, and spiders and all things just a little bit creepy – you may have noticed that in my art?!

For today's project, we will take two molds from my stash and use them together to create a fun necklace that is just a little bit creepy and perfect to wear for the all hallows eve or all year long.

Lets start by mixing some Amazing Clear Cast Resin (CLICK HERE to view mixing and preparation). It's pretty easy... just measure out equal portions of parts "A" and "B".

Then combine and mix together, stirring slowly until there are no streaks or cloudiness. Set this aside for five minutes so that any bubbles created while mixing can rise and escape.

Divide clear resin into two cups: to one cup I add a very small dot of Alumilite Violet Dye; and to the other add a very small amount of Interference Purple Alumidust. I pour these into my two molds, and set aside to cure (this usually takes about 24 hours).

Once cured, I de-mold the beautifully detailed castings and apply some metallic rubs with my fingertips to highlight all that yummy texture!

Then use a strong glue – I like Beacon Powertac to adhere the two resin pieces together and also to adhere a heat embossed chipboard shape to the back. To complete I add findings, a chain and beads.

Just like that, we have a uniquely cool piece that is just a little bit spooky!

Resin Painting with Dried Orchids... #Cre8time Explorations by Tracy Alden

Hello! Tracy here with another Amazing Casting Products inspiration post! I will let you in on a secret: sometimes I have no clue what direction some of my art projects will end up going. I can collect supplies, start working on something, maybe even get a basic idea of what I would like to do... then end up making something completely different – this project was one of those.

I have a small collection of orchid blooms that I had dried and wanted to try to preserve in Amazing Clear Cast Resin. I had never worked with dried orchid blooms as they are very delicate, and can easily crumble if mishandled. I decided a frame was the best choice to display the dried orchids and also be able to hold the resin in place... so I got to work.

I found that with the first layer of Amazing Clear Cast Resin the orchid blooms had a tendency to shift in the resin. So the first layer of resin had to be a thin pour and I let that cure to a tacky set. I added a second clear layer of resin to cover and protect the orchids. After this cured, I followed with two more layers of resin mixed with Alumidust or Alumilite Dye in different spots, using a toothpick to drag the colors through each other. This created a lovely ebb and flow of color to the resin.

I honestly lost track of time doing this and found it rather relaxing and meditative in nature. I let this layer of resin cure. The frame looks complicated but it is just four layers of resin poured. No waste of resin – just a few stir sticks, toothpicks and clean up with babywipes.

Singing a Whale Song of Summer... by Lyn Gill

Hi everyone! Lyn here with you today from LynzCraftz. It's no secret that I love Summer... the Ocean... the Beach... the sound of the waves and the salty sea air – so before Summer ends, I thought I would get in one last Summer project. I've named it "Whale Song" for obvious reasons...

I first started with a couple polymer clay whales that I sculpted from Super Sculpey (baked according to package directions). I left each whale flat on the back so I could glue them down. I glued each down into my mold box, then I poured over a batch of Amazing Mold Rubber to create the mold. CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation.

In a few hours, the mold is cured! I removed the originals and it was time to pour some clear blue resin. For the whales I've mixed up Amazing Clear Cast Resin and Ocean Blue Alumilite Dye... aren't they cute?

Then using a wooden canvas I had purchased, I painted it with some acrylic paints. Just a basic underwater type background which will get mostly covered up.

Here comes the fun part... I mixed up some Amazing Clear Cast Resin and divided it into 5 small cups; adding Alumidust to each cup in similar colors to my painted background in 4 of them. In the fifth one, I added a bit of White Alumilite Dye.

Carefully pouring each of the four colors on their corresponding color area (kinda like a paint by number... LOL), I used a stir stick to help move the colors around. I placed the two original polymer whales along with the blue cast whales into the wet resin on the background and left it to cure for 3-4 hours before continuing.

The final step was to mix just a touch (the tip of my pallet knife) of the Alumilite Pearlescent Metallic Powder into another batch of Amazing Clear Cast Resin, then pour this mixture over the entire piece – whales and all.

After letting this cure overnight,

the results are well... AMAZING!

You can see the sparkle from the tiny bit of Pearlescent powder that I added to the final layer of Amazing Clear Cast Resin – it's so pretty! A little bit of work but well worth it in the end.

Dress up your #Cre8time... Bejeweled Hair Clip by Aimée Wheaton

Hi all! Aimée here today to share this little sweet piece created from broken costume jewelry. I thought I'd mold it to see how the Amazing Mold Putty would do and it didn't fail!! Check out the details below!

I was bummed when this broke, but I kept it to use for molds. I'm sure I'll use the pieces for other projects.

I mixed two equal parts of Amazing Mold Putty and formed it around the gem {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. The photo on right shows the awesome detail it picked up. I love how it caught all the facets of the gems.

Next, I took some cotton swabs and colored in each individual gem with some Alumidust. I chose copper, bright blue and deep purple.

I mixed equal parts of the quick curing Amazing Casting Resin {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. It cures in no time!! I demolded and below is what you see :)

Add some hot glue and add it to an alligator clip and it's done!
