#Cre8time for Ocean Magic... by Kristie Taylor

Hello everyone! Do you ever create something and find it leads to an avalanche of ideas?! It happens to me all the time. Kristie here to share another under-the-sea creation... and how you can make some "Ocean Magic" in your Cre8time.

This all started when I was working on another mixed-media piece featuring a lovely handmade resin casting of a starfish which was an old refrigerator magnet I retired to my crafty stash {CLICK HERE if you missed it}.

Let me show you how easy it is!

First, we need a LOT of molds... a LOT! Let's start by molding some seashells with Amazing Mold Putty {CLICK HERE to view how to quick and easy it is to make a mold}.

Remember, when making molds for mixed media, all sides of the object can be used!

Just look at all that yummy texture – and beautiful details!

I especially love this one!

Now we need castings of the seashells.

Begin with pouring equal amounts of Part "A" and Part "B" of Amazing Casting Resin {CLICK HERE to view mixing and preparation}.

In a larger cup, combine both parts and stir for two minutes... then pour in to molds!

Wait until it resin cures and turns an opaque white –
now you have amazing castings to use in your art!

I paint all the castings with gesso.

While that dries, we need to prep our substrate {for this project I've used the back of a small canvas}. Use modeling paste through a stencil. This is one of my stencil designs called "30 Point Mandala" on the outside edge.

In the center of the canvas, I used another one
of my stencil designs called "Symmetrical Waves".

Once modeling paste is dry, paint the entire surface with gesso.

Once the gesso is dry, I painted the canvas with a variety of Art Anthology paints.

I start to add the primed resin casts and painting them as I go.

On the starfish, I used a combination: first some alcohol ink,
then when dry, adding sparking minx by Art Anthology.

Then I used some metallic rubs to highlight the details.

I added some small seashells, sea glass and
some mesh to further enhance that ocean feel...

and more metallic rubs to highlight all the great texture on the seashells!

How's that for some "Ocean Magic"! Another undersea creation featuring my seahorse! The wonder of Amazing Mold Putty and Amazing Casting Resin – you can create a mold, and use an object more than once, in so many ways!

What will you create using these

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Kristie

#Cre8time Underwater Treasures... AMAZING Inspiration from Lyn Gill

Hi everyone! Lyn here again... this time with some Underwater Inspiration. I'm so ready for warmer weather and I KNOW you are too – so I created this fun piece to inspire you.

Can you believe this is created from a recycle processed cheese box?! LOL... I just love to recycle cardboard boxes! The first thing I did was to cover the box completely with brown craft paper {which I also recycled from other packaging}. I glued it down with some matte medium and then let it dry for about an hour.

With some texture paste and a couple of stencils, I added some texture to the background. I'm kind of crazy for texture... LOL! I set aside to dry again for about an hour.

I took one of those dollar bin frames from the craft store and a bunch of Amazing Casting Resin cast pieces from over pours (I have a lot of these in my stash), and glued them down with matte medium. When dried I covered the whole thing with black gesso... and again set aside to let dry.

Now comes the fun part... I painted the entire piece with some metallic acrylic paints in blues and greens, and then dry brushed on a bit of silver to bring up some of the details.

Underwater Treasure (back)

I am so in love with this piece {the photos really don't do it justice}! The colors and textures are so rich and positively dreamy. OK, well maybe I'm just dreaming of Summer... LOL!

What are you dreaming of using

Well that's all for now... Till Next Time! Lyn

Swimming with #Cre8time Inspiration... by Kristie Taylor

Hello everyone! Kristie Taylor here to share some under-the-sea inspiration. Do you ever see something and just know that it has started an avalanche of ideas? It literally happens to me all the time!

Sometimes, I will be working on a project and one thing leads to another and another until my work surface is covered in several different projects all in various stages of drying... LOL!

Many years ago, I bought a refrigerator magnet of a seahorse. I love sea horses – I find them beautiful and mysterious. Anyways, the magnet lost its stickiness and luster a long time ago, so I put it in a box of mixed media supplies to be used again one day. I ran across him recently, and started a project using him as the center of attention, then halfway into the project, I had another idea... of course to create a mold! Now he could be the center of attention in several different projects.

That is part of the wonder of Amazing Mold Putty and Amazing Casting Resin – you can create a mold, and use an object more than once, in so many ways!

But in creating this one... it fired up my imagination to create something else. Stay tuned for an upcoming tutorial of another AMAZING creation featuring this lovely resin casting of my retired starfish magnet.

What altered things will you create
using Amazing Casting Products??!

Singing a Whale Song of Summer... by Lyn Gill

Hi everyone! Lyn here with you today from LynzCraftz. It's no secret that I love Summer... the Ocean... the Beach... the sound of the waves and the salty sea air – so before Summer ends, I thought I would get in one last Summer project. I've named it "Whale Song" for obvious reasons...

I first started with a couple polymer clay whales that I sculpted from Super Sculpey (baked according to package directions). I left each whale flat on the back so I could glue them down. I glued each down into my mold box, then I poured over a batch of Amazing Mold Rubber to create the mold. CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation.

In a few hours, the mold is cured! I removed the originals and it was time to pour some clear blue resin. For the whales I've mixed up Amazing Clear Cast Resin and Ocean Blue Alumilite Dye... aren't they cute?

Then using a wooden canvas I had purchased, I painted it with some acrylic paints. Just a basic underwater type background which will get mostly covered up.

Here comes the fun part... I mixed up some Amazing Clear Cast Resin and divided it into 5 small cups; adding Alumidust to each cup in similar colors to my painted background in 4 of them. In the fifth one, I added a bit of White Alumilite Dye.

Carefully pouring each of the four colors on their corresponding color area (kinda like a paint by number... LOL), I used a stir stick to help move the colors around. I placed the two original polymer whales along with the blue cast whales into the wet resin on the background and left it to cure for 3-4 hours before continuing.

The final step was to mix just a touch (the tip of my pallet knife) of the Alumilite Pearlescent Metallic Powder into another batch of Amazing Clear Cast Resin, then pour this mixture over the entire piece – whales and all.

After letting this cure overnight,
the results are well... AMAZING!

You can see the sparkle from the tiny bit of Pearlescent powder that I added to the final layer of Amazing Clear Cast Resin – it's so pretty! A little bit of work but well worth it in the end.

What end of Summer projects
do you have planned?

Well that's the end for now – thank you so much for stopping by...
Till Next Time! Lyn
