#Cre8time Treasures... Handmade Heart Keepsake by Bridget Cordero

One of the saddest days in our lives happened when my daughters father died. We were expecting it for some time but are never really prepared for loosing a loved one. We received his ashes in a black box they give you at the funeral parlor. We could not decide on an urn so we brought him home in that box. 

My daughter decided to create a shrine in her room of her dad, it is filled with memories and pictures and just beautiful. After seeing this I wanted to give her something small that she could display anywhere and that's when I came up with this heart keepsake.

I had this little heart box made of plastic and decided this would work perfectly. I mixed up some Amazing Mold Rubber and made a mold of the heart {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}.

Once cured I removed it from the plastic container and popped out the heart. My mold was ready for some Amazing Clear Cast Resin and the embellishments I had chosen to put in it.

Figuring the best way to go about this was by using layers, I mixed up the a small amount of the Amazing Clear Cast Resin and poured it into the mold {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. I found a shamrock and placed that with a metal "love" charm into the resin. Once this cured for 12 hours, I carefully took some of Abbey's Dads ashes and laid them on that layer. I mixed up more Clear Cast and poured another layer in. I decided some blue glitter was needed and at this point added it. Once this cured I added one more layer of Clear Cast. I gave this two full days to cure before I popped it out of the mold.

I'm so happy with the way this came out and thankful that my daughter will have this beautiful keepsake for the rest of her life because of these amazing products.

A Little #Cre8time for Teachers... by Aimée Wheaton

"The best teachers teach from the heart and not from the book."

This is the quote that inspired this little piece that I will be bringing to the classroom. I found these two adorable pencils at school on the ground and I just had to do something with them. I plan on making more items with them because they're so much fun!

I used our Amazing Mold Rubber to cast these babies because I wanted to get all the details in them. It did an amazing job and I have 2 perfect pencils!! I cast them with our Amazing Casting Resin because I wanted them white.

This is what I ended up with, of course I had to glitter them up! This would make such a cute teacher gift. It's on a wooden coaster and it was quick and easy to make. I love the little details!

It's hard to see but there is the word 'teacher' in silver stickers down the side :)

Take a #Cre8time Trip to Castaway Island... Easy and Inspired Gifts by Aimée Wheaton

Well this simple idea came about because I'm now working with kids at a school and my brain is frazzled... but it's also now thinking more like a kid. This was a super easy project and would be awesome for stocking stuffers or just a sweet little gift for someone special. I will be giving this to my daughter Lily at Christmas.

I started with browsing through my box of cast offs to see if I had anything I wanted to use. What is a cast off? Well it's the extra resin you end up with if you mix too much for your project, that's what it is to me. I have a box of goodies I dig out for projects and sometimes use them. I found this heart that I had made around the time of my Disney Cruise in February. I had painted this one teal. It was a plain smooth magnet I bought, altered and molded. The raised areas were hot glue designs added on it and then I molded it using Amazing Mold Putty, mixed up some Amazing Casting Resin and had this awesome new heart design. It's perfect for a necklace and I have a ton of these hearts in that box. 

I started digging around in my jewelry findings box and had this bail that fit perfectly. I glued it on with Tacky Glue and let it dry. I then glued on the sweet little pink bow which was in my mom's old button stash, added more glue and then some glitter on the raised areas. Oh and I sanded the back so it was smooth against her skin. Easy peasy!! I know my girl will love it! Super simple project!!

Don't throw out those cast offs!!!! Use them in other projects! There are so many ways to use them. First idea that comes to mind a is a Louise Nevelson inspired shadow box!

#Cre8time Glitzy Glammy for MOLD RUBBER MONDAY with DeeDee Catron

Jingle Bells... Jingle Bells... JINGLE ALL THE WAY >>>> Merry Christmas beautiful people :) The holiday is just a few short days away and I (DeeDee, here! HI!) want to share a fun DIY with you.

I know as the years go by and the holidays are days gone past, we try to find new ideas and/or work out beautiful handmade bits to deliver to our friends and family. Well the project I'm sharing today can surely be that! I've turned mine into a home decor piece for the beautiful season, but the jar portion can easily be filled with candies, yummies, baked goods, or ingredients to be baked! I suppose I ought to show you the bit first, eh? Check it out:

It's a DIY Jar Topper! So very cool :)

I used the 2 part Amazing Mold Rubber (1:10 ratio) and a resin bird statue to create my mold {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. The bird was secured inside a leak-proof container. If you don't glue down your piece it will likely float to the top of the rubber before it cures, so just give it a quick secure with some hot glue :) For this mold (I neglected to get a photo, sorry!) I had an acrylic block for the base and a plastic cup for the walls of the mold.

In this top view you can see the base where the bird had been glued down. You can also see that I slit my mold. It goes about half way down and just makes it easier to extract my poured piece after it's fully cured. The bird has a steep undercut for the tail and it was proving difficult to remove. As a second precaution, to help fill the mold as I pour the thick resin in, I poked holes with a pin from the outside edge into the tail cavity. It helps air escape as the resin pours in. Secure the split mold with a rubber band before and during the resin pour.

 

Following the instructions for the Amazing Casting Resin, mix and fill your mold. 

This is the finished cast piece -- see all the beautiful details!

The next step is prepping your lid! I painted the little tin insert with gesso then applied a beautiful Christmas napkin with mod podge. After it was dry and cured, I adhered my resin bird to the insert with E6000.  I gave everything a big dose of spray adhesive and then sprinkled on Prima Marketing Inc / Finnabair chunky Glass Glitter in gold. DELISH!

Now just fill your jar with whatever bits n bobs; could be Christmas gifts, home decor pieces, might even be a fun way to deliver some cash or a gift card! Then screw on the lid with the topper. As a final HURRAH I made a bow out of some Michaels and May Arts ribbons. The bow was adhered with handy dandy hot glue :)

Charm your friends this Valentine's Day

I really enjoy making small gifts for my loved ones and Valentine's Day provides the perfect occasion for gift giving. These charms look great hanging from a necklace, a key chain or even your zipper pull. Hang them from a ribbon and use them to decorate a gift box.

The fact that they are made form recycled materials just makes them all the better! Harry Potter INSPIRATION... AMAZING Fan Jewelry with Rachel Whetzel

If you are a true Potterhead (That's the word, you know. For a nutso Harry Potter geek like myself.) then there are two things you already know.

1. The Deathly Hallows symbol.

2. Always.

So this Christmas, I had a fellow Potterhead in my soon to be Daughter In Law... and I knew that I could make the perfect gift for her.

I used my favorite, the ever easy to use Scrabble tile, and because I am a sucker for details, I used a 'W' tile... and let the W show on the back. Then I glued some scrapbook paper on the front, after I had used one of my vintage typewriters to type 'Always' on it, and drawn the deathly hallows symbol too. Then I covered the whole thing in Amazing Clear Cast Resin, and used the resin to attach a bezel to the back for hanging. I loved the way it came out, and it had very special meaning for me and my new daughter to be.

Making her necklace a custom box to nest in was fun too! I knew I'd find a use for the wooden french cheese box I found at the thrift store!!

Follow the Treasure Map to Success! AMAZING Nautical Theme Container Tutorial by Lonnie Sexton

 

Parts/Tools:

• Amazing Mold Putty
• Amazing Clear Cast Resin
• Amazing Casting Resin
• Alumilite Metallic Copper Powder
• Alumilite Metallic Silver Powder
• Mixing Cup (a few are included with the clear cast and casting resins)
• Mixing Stick (a few are included with the clear cast and casting resins)
• Rubber to Rubber Mold Release

• Plain Metal Packaging Container w/ lid.
• 100lb Letterhead paper
• Wax Paper
• Accent Medallions – Lock, Key and Compass
• Spray Adhesive
• Xacto Knife
• Ruler
• Sharpie
• Scale

Steps:

1. Create Primary Object - Decorations
2. Prepare the Part for Clear Coating
3. Make the Putty Ring
4. Clear Coating and Lid Fill
5. Mold extra parts
6. Prepare inside for clear casting
7. Clear Cast fill
8. Final

This kind of project is not really my style, but I was asked by a VIP to assist so I couldn’t say no to a challenge. I’ve also wanted to use Amazing Clear Cast Resin as a hard coating and this was a good project to experiment. The VIP had a two-sided metal compass and key medallion to start with. The compass came with a journey poem. Perfect for a nautical theme!

First, I made a one-sided Amazing Casting Resin version of the compass. Using Alumilite Metallic Copper and Alumilite Silver Metallic Powders coating inside the mold. While it was still a little soft, I curved the casting to fit the metal container.

I also needed a lock to go with the key for the inside. I made a mold of a toy lock with Amazing Mold Putty. I coated the inside of the mold with Alumilite Silver Metallic Powder and used Amazing Casting Resin to make a one-sided version.

Next, using graphics software I imported a Treasure Map back ground and placed the text over it. The layout was created to wrap around the outside of the container. I also made a circular text layout of the poem to fit the inside of the lid. The VIP experimented with burn treatments until they got the right effect for both pieces.   

Using spray adhesive, attached the graphics wrap to the outside.

Glue the deco pieces to the lid and container wall with crystal clear all purpose glue. Let dry. I like the results I get from Loctite G02 Crystal Clear. It becomes invisible in Amazing Clear Cast Resin.

Mix equal parts of Amazing Mold Putty and create a ring, press the container lip into the ring and let cure. This putty ring is to protect the edge of the container where the lid attaches. Nothing can be interfere this area or the lid will not connect.

Mix equal parts of Amazing Clear Cast Resin and coat the container. Let run off and onto the wax paper. Let Cure 10+ hours, before applying a 2nd, and/or 3rd coat (if needed).

Fill the Back of the lid. Let Cure 24+ hours.
Be careful not to overfill or the lid will not fit on the container.



Fill the front of the lid. Let Cure 24+ hours.

Glue the accent parts inside on bottom of the container.



Mix Amazing Clear Cast Resin and fill the bottom just enough to cover all the parts.

Cover the casting to avoid any dust particles curing on the surface.



Let cure for 24+ hours.

It's always a little nerve racking to experiment with a permanent product, but I like the results of hard-coating and encasing with Amazing Clear Cast Resin.
