From the Witch's #Cre8time Cupboard... by Lyn Gill

Happy Halloween everyone! Lyn here again bringing you a fun Halloween charm just in time for your big event!

I crafted the original skull from Super Sculpey and baked it until cured (according to package directions). To prepare for molding I glued it down to the bottom of a disposable plastic cup with my hot glue gun. Then I mixed a small amount of Amazing Mold Rubber according to package directions (CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation), and then slowly poured it into the cup – covering up the skull by about a 1/2''. I set aside to let cure overnight.

After de-molding my original it is ready to fill mold with some Amazing Casting Resin. After mixing equal amounts of Parts "A" and "B", stir until swirls and cloudiness are gone, then pour into the mold. Let this cure for 10 to 20 minutes before de-molding. CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation.

While the molded resin piece is still "soft", I screwed in a screw eye to make a charm out of the skull. Then using some Black acrylic paint, I painted the whole skull and quickly (while it was still wet), wiped it back off – leaving it with an antiqued finish.

I think it looks kinda creepy sitting on my handmade
ATC card (Artist Trading Card) and my Art Journal...

What will you create to go
with your Halloween costume?

Well that's all for now... Till Next Time! Lyn

SPOOKtacular #Cre8time Jewels... by Lyn Gill

Hi Lyn from LynzCraftz here today sharing a DIY project combining resin and polymer clay to create a skull ring for the Amazing Casting Products and Designer Crafts Connection "SPOOKtacular Jewels" bloghop.

I first started with some Super Sculpey Polymer Clay and handformed a few "jewel" crystal shapes; baked them per instructions, and when cooled molded them using Amazing Mold Putty.

I prepared some Amazing Clear Cast Resin combined with Alumilite Violet Dye, and some glitter flakes, then poured the "Jewels". CLICK HERE to view mixing and preparation. I set this aside to let them cure overnight.

I made a ring base and some little skulls out of more Super Sculpey, but before baking, I added one of the resin crystals to my design – don't worry items cast in Amazing Clear Cast Resin are heat tolerant at polymer clay baking temps of 275º F.

When done shaping clay around the resin crystal, I baked the piece to cure/harden polymer. Then I painted the ring with acrylic paints, taking care not to get paint on the faux crystal.

I added some antiquing with acrylic paint to the little skulls.

Look at how the crystal looks with light shining from behind... pretty HUH?!

A true "SPOOKtacular" Jewel for your Halloween costume!

What handmade jewels will accent
your Halloween costume this year?

#Cre8time Skull Candy... by Kristie Taylor

Hello everyone! Kristie Taylor here today... and I just love Halloween! It is by far my favorite holiday! Why you ask... well its because I have always been a little weird in the fact that I like skulls, and spiders and all things just a little bit creepy – you may have noticed that in my art?!

For today's project, we will take two molds from my stash and use them together to create a fun necklace that is just a little bit creepy and perfect to wear for the all hallows eve or all year long.

Lets start by mixing some Amazing Clear Cast Resin (CLICK HERE to view mixing and preparation). It's pretty easy... just measure out equal portions of parts "A" and "B".

Then combine and mix together, stirring slowly until there are no streaks or cloudiness. Set this aside for five minutes so that any bubbles created while mixing can rise and escape.

Divide clear resin into two cups: to one cup I add a very small dot of Alumilite Violet Dye; and to the other add a very small amount of Interference Purple Alumidust. I pour these into my two molds, and set aside to cure (this usually takes about 24 hours).

Once cured, I de-mold the beautifully detailed castings and apply some metallic rubs with my fingertips to highlight all that yummy texture!

Then use a strong glue – I like Beacon Powertac to adhere the two resin pieces together and also to adhere a heat embossed chipboard shape to the back. To complete I add findings, a chain and beads.

Just like that, we have a uniquely cool piece that is just a little bit spooky!

What Halloween Jewels will you create
with Amazing Casting Products??!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Kristie

Mirror, Mirror on the #Cre8time Wall... SpOoky Frame REDUX by Lara Hjorthoy

Hello Artists! Lara here and its my personal favorite time of the year... changing leaves, fall storms, rainy sweater weather, my birthday and of course – HALLOWEEN!!!

So, what have I got in store?
How about this!!!

I wanted to make a different sort of decoration for this Halloween, since my "living room" is largely my studio these days, I wanted something I could sit on my desk to get me in the Halloween spirit!

My steps for this project began with finding a worthy skull! I scoured the thrift shops around town and eventually found a small plastic skull that I thought would be a delicious mold, using the Amazing Mold Putty!

I wanted this skull to glow for this project and have a spooky vibe to it, so I used the Alumilite dye in violet for some colour, but mixed in some Alumilite Phosphorescent powder as well. I mixed a small amount of Amazing Clear Cast Resin and added both of those products to it and mixed well!

I waited a little bit to allow the bubbles to pop a bit and then poured it into my mold – with a very thin stream to make sure any additional bubbles popped along the way!

While I waited, I prepped my found frame! This is also a great find from the same Thrift Store! I wanted something that was a bit ornate and sprayed the frame a matte black! It looked so cool all painted up! This particular frame has a backing attached to it and was perfect as there is quite the depth between the back and the front, so it has lots of room to pour more resin!

I glued the backing using Gorilla glue and let that dry, making sure that there was no holes along the seam. I want my resin to pool in the center!

Once the skull had cured, and the frame had sealed I added the skull into the centre of the frame, and mixed up another batch of Amazing Clear Cast Resin and added more Violet dye. I made it a bit darker this time as I wanted to it to look dark and spooky and poured the resin into the frame! Here it is wet and starting to cure {sorry for the reflection}!

After the proper drying time... THIS is what happened!

My spooky skull desk picture! That glows in the dark!

I have more Halloween Inspired projects coming up and I know my fellow Creatives have some great projects in store as well! Make sure you follow the Amazing Casting Products Blog to see all the cool projects that come to life!

What will you make for your Halloween!?

Until next time, have a spooooooooooky day!!!!!

Creeperific #Cre8time Jewels... Amazing DIY Coffin Pendants by Tracy Alden

Hello! Tracy here with another Amazing Casting Products tutorial! Spooky crafting and decorating is in full swing at my house, with new ghosts and goblins appearing around every corner daily! Looking for a new way to show some Halloween cheer I brewed up a fun project with a little help from Amazing Mold Putty and Amazing Clear Cast Resin!

Supplies:

Many years back I saved a small coffin shaped package the once held plastic vampire fangs, I knew the shape would be perfect to mold! I cleaned the packaging, careful to remove all stickers and dust.

I placed the small coffin on an clear acrylic block, mixed up Amazing Mold Putty {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}, and molded it around the coffin. Being that it was on an acrylic block I could flip it over to see if I had the Mold Putty pushed up tight along the edges.

I needed the mold to have a flat bottom, so I used the lid from one of the Amazing Mold Putty jars to press carefully against the yet uncured mold putty. I made sure to let the Mold Putty fully cure before removing the acrylic block, lid and the original plastic coffin.

I carefully sliced halfway down the mold with a craft knife to create a tiny groove to be able to place and hold tight a jewelry eye pin. I wasn't worried about too much future resin seepage since the slice was paper thin.

I slid into the newly created groove a jewelry eye pin. When I poured resin into the mold it would catch the metal pin firmly in place to later wire wrap into a bail for the pendant.

I mixed up a small portion of Amazing Clear Cast Resin, making sure to slowly stir to reduce air bubbles and let it sit for 5 minutes. Using toothpicks, I put a tiny drop of Black Alumilite Dye into a small mixing cup. I filled the mold 1/4 with the tinted resin.

I carefully placed the 3 skull shaped beads covered in Lt. Green Alumidust in the still liquid tinted resin. While the resin cured I sprinkled a little micro crystal glitter to add some shimmer. If at any point the skull beads shifted out of place, a nudge back in place with a toothpick, helped resolve any wayward beads. I let the resin cure until a tacky set.

My second layer of resin I poured until it coated the top and sides of the skull beads with the beads just ever so slightly raised out of the resin. It gave the spooky look of skulls rising out of the murky depths of a darkened coffin! I let this layer cure completely, removed the pendant from the mold and then carefully trimmed the edges with craft scissors.

Using the 1500, 1800 sanding pads from the Alumilite Polishing Kit, I sanded the sides and back of the resin coffin pendant to a smooth matte finish.

Using a cosmetic sponge I applied black chalk paint to the sides and back of the coffin pendant. *This step is optional* – but I wanted to complete the look of old dark coffin.

Using needle nose pliers I wrapped the wire into a tight loop, added some jumprings and strung it on a chain. I loved the look so much I even tried a second pendant in gold and black tones! By changing the tint of the resin, the style of beads, inclusions and embellishments any wild assortment of ghoulish glam can be created!

What AMAZING arts and crafts can you create?
