Dingle Dangle!

For my DT project this month, I thought it would be fun to make something for gift giving. Something easy, quick and inexpensive, cause WE ALL want to save time & money.....but still give a GREAT GIFT! I think this will help you out this holiday season.
Here's what you will need
- Amazing Mold Putty
- 5 minute Casting Resin
- exacto knife
- pen
- rub-ons
- earring loops & some wire.

Here's what we're making - these earrings and let me tell you they look stunning on!

1. First you want to mix equal parts of The Amazing Mold Putty

2. Form the mold putty around the shaft of a pen. Make your mold putty go about 1/2 of the way up the pen as shown below. Let the mold putty set up (about 5-10 minutes)

3. Remove the pen. Mix equal parts of the 5 minute Casting Resin and pour into the pen mold.

4. Let the resin set-up for about 5-8 minutes in the mold
remove from the mold (it should be slightly warm)

5. Cut the resin into the desired earring size.

6. Place earring ends into the resin (again, while still warm)
Let this all harden.
7. Place rub-ons ON in desired style, add metal if desired.
 8. Dip the finished earrings into 3D Crystal Lacquer for a smooth finished, shiney look.

The beginning (for me at least)- Mini Mickey Head Notebook 2 of 2

Mini Mickey Head Notebook

Yesterday I explained just how quick and easy the Amazing Mold Putty really is and today I'm back to show you a small piece I made from it.
First I wanted to give you a few tips I learned from/since yesterday!
1. Make sure that you make your molding deep enough and not just shallow-like covering of your piece.

2. And when mixing the putting colors for 3 minutes don't let yourself get caught up in a 15 minute conversation because it will harden in that amount of time and you can forget trying to roll it into a ball!
(Learned this today when trying to make more molds and not paying attention to time or what I was doing.)

3. Read more to see what I learned today while using the Amazing Casting Resin.

 Supply List:
Molds (already made from mold putty)
Mini Notebook Decorated
Paper Cup

Directions:

1. First heat up your mold according to the instructions in the box of Amazing Casting Resin.

2. Mix your Resin as well according to the directions and then pour into the molds.

NOTE: Make sure you are actually paying attention to what you are doing and have enough lighting to see how much is in the cup. (Not that I would admit to these errors) :)
I had resin EVERYWHERE because I overfilled every one of the molds I was using until it was running over the edges, something that could've easily have been avoided and messed up all but two of my projects.
But I admit it's my fault not the products.

3. It says to let sit around 15 minutes, mine set while I finished dinner for about 30 minutes to be sure and this is where I realized one of my molds was way too shallow when I made it AFTER already ruining some putty from talking too much while mixing it.

4. Afterwards you can easily pop them out and either leave them white, or if you want you can paint them.

Here are two of the ones I have that I've left white.
Again if I wouldn't have overfilled and paid attention to what I was doing the fleur de lis would have the spaces open where you make a charm out of it rather than thin white pieces. I plan on doing this one over though and the right way. And then painting it silver.

(you can see where it is running over the sides some and the crown one was the one I made too shallow and uneven, a defect of me.)

5. If painting it is recommended that you paint right away while they are still warm so the paint will adhere better and tells you in the directions an alternative of what to do if not painting right away.

6. The mickey mouse head is left white to offset the mini notebook I adhered it on with glue dots.
But the next time I plan on painting them silver, black, yellow, and even red so that I can embellish my scrapbook pages with them.

I will try to get a bigger and even better project posted to the blog related to Halloween before the month is over!

Thanks for bearing with me in the learning process and hope you've learned some do's and don'ts as well and my next project should be much more successful!

Thanks for visiting,
Jamie

The beginning.....Wow it's easy! (Part 1 of 2)

The title should say it all.
I realize some of you may have seen time and time again how to start off making a mold.
I'm a new team member on the newly picked design team and figured even if it's been done before I would do it again just in case because I'm hoping to send my facebook friends and blogging friends this way to see just how AMAZING the Amazing Crafting Products really are and show everyone this isn't as intimidating as I thought it was when I left it for weeks just sitting there on my desk afraid to even open.

I've always looked for a way to make molds and everything looked like such work. I do enough "work" having a job and don't want to do more while having fun scrapbooking, cardmaking and doing altered work.

This post is very simple, shows just how easy and simple Amazing Mold Putting really is and hope it eases the minds of all those that for the past few weeks have continuously asked me to tell them how I liked the product once I used it and for those that are seeing it for the first time ever.
My three words for it: I LOVE IT! And recommend it highly!
This makes me wish I never bought a pack of molds a month before trying out this awesome product!

Here are the first molds I made:

Those molds are now ready to fill and I will do that and have it posted tomorrow for part 2 of the beginning.

Supplies:
Metal Embellishments

Directions:
It comes in two Parts as shown in this picture.

1. You take out equal parts of each color and the directions are on the front as well so it is super easy.
These are the two colors: one in each jar.
2. Mix together for approximately 3 minutes or at least until it is one uniform color. Should be completely yellow without any streaking.

3.Then roll into a ball and put around whatever you are trying to mold and let it set 30 minutes then pop it out and you have the perfect mold.

Thank you for visiting and come back tomorrow to see what I do with at least one of the molds if not more.

Thanks again,
Jamie
