Prima --- eat your heart out!!

Hey everybody!! DeeDee here for Amazing Mold Putty and I'm SUPER PSYCHED to be part of this team!! I have tons of ideas when it comes to molding and replicating - and I love to share what's runnin' through my head!

Have you seen those resin cast pieces that Prima is selling? there are some birdhouses, an old wheel, a bicycle... well they're kind of priced high.. and you only get ONE --- but if you were to... MAKE YOUR OWN piece.. and them CAST it in a silicone mold.. you could reuse and reuse!

So that's what I have for you today =) A neat little "trinket" style piece to use on any altered art piece or card or scrapbook page you want!

I made my built my own original piece (Remember copy writes and such, folks!) out of a white sculpy.. I shaped a crescent moon with all it's detail and then heated it to the appropriate directions:

I then experimented molding it... I molded it once shallow and once deep:

I mixed equal parts A and B of the white casting resin and poured into both molds... I demold about a minute before it suggests.. so that I have time to remove any plastic pieces that have overflowed:

And here is my final piece after covering with white acrylic and distressing with Distress Stain (I think Prima stops at the white acrylic step):

and I can make as MANY as I want.. color them how I want.. and use them on everything =D

see you next month! -DeeDee

Halloween Hot Glue Embellishments

Good morning crafters! I am so excited to share another project using the Amazing Molding Putty. If you missed my first tutorial using this stuff, click here. I've been searching the house for all kinds of things to make molds out of and this time I think I came up with a fabulous idea for a friend, so here we go:

First this is what you need:

Here are my containers

I found these cutesie Halloween erasers that I had from last year.
This particular one is of a pumpkin.

So I created my mold.

Here it is and it takes less than 5 minutes to set up.

Then I added hot glue to the mold...

and I used alcohol ink to color it

I attached some google eyes, mouth and nose;
and some paper leaves with hot glue.

I also used a glitter hot glue stick. One small stick made 2 perfect pumpkins!

And again I attached google eyes, nose, mouth and some paper leaves.

I made a gift baggie for a friend who uses ALOT of hot glue on her projects. Now she just needs to pop off the eyes, noses, mouths and leaves and she can stick her pumpkins into her melting pot and she has hot glue again.

So what do you think of my idea?

Breast Cancer Awareness Resin Pin

Hi! My name is Leslie-Rahye and I'm a new member on the Amazing Mold Putty Design Team! I am so honored to be among such talented artists and to be working with such a fun and exciting product! There are literally endless possibilities with this product line and I can wait to share more ideas with you soon!
The inception of this project came a few weeks ago while talking with my Best Friend Holly over what I could cast with the putty...we had named off a number of items and were just becoming silly. Finally the thought popped into the conversation to cast a dolls torso and make a pin. Since October is breast cancer awareness month, it only seemed reasonable to make the pin's theme be that. So I present to you...the Breast Cancer Awareness Resin Pin.

For this project you will need:
Amazing Mold Putty
Fashion Doll Torso
acrylic paint
ribbon and pearls
chipboard
flowers
Take out equal amounts of the yellow and white putty. [note: Initially when taking photos I was going to do a full torso cast...however I soon realized that a full torso resin pin would be TOO heavy!] You mix the two colors of putty until you have an even color--no streaks of white showing. Gently roll the putty over the torso to insure the details are captured in the putty.
The putty will set up quickly providing you with a sturdy flexible mold for casting. I chose to cast my pin in resin because it sets up very quickly and it takes acrylic paint beautifully.

I poured the resin components together into a paper cup and quickly stirred with a craft stick until it is a clear liquid. I then poured into the mold. It's fun to watch this next process because all of a sudden the resin starts bursting into white! In about 3-10 minutes your resin is ready to un-mold.

As my project is for Breast Cancer Awareness, I chose to paint my torso in shades of pink...I painted my chipboard base and chipboard vines pink as well, accenting with dots! To assemble my pin, I used red tape and Beacon 3-in-1 glue. I dry-brushed hot-pink on the tips of the paper flowers, added a velvet pink ribbon and hot-pink pearls for accent. A pin-back was added to make the piece able to be worn. Thank you for looking! I hope you enjoyed my project!
