Cooking up Some #Cre8time Holiday Fun! AMAZING Cajun Tree Ornaments by Tanya Ruffin

I have an awesome crawfish cookie cutter that I wanted to use to make some Christmas ornaments. Start off with Amazing RemeltSculpey, cookie cutter, Amazing Clear Cast Resin, and a decorative tissue or napkin.

I conditioned and then rolled out some Sculpey clay and pressed the cookie cutter in the clay. I then punched a hole in the top of the clay crawfish with a straw. Then baked following the Sculpey directions.

I cut the Amazing Remelt into small pieces and melted in the microwave in 30 second intervals. I have discovered that if you stir the remelt, the heat from the melted pieces will help melt some of the unmelted pieces. Just like when melting chocolate.

A plastic sandwich storage container was the perfect size for my clay ornament. I used double stick taped the ornament to the bottom of the container and started to pour the remelt over the ornament. There was an unmelted chunk of the Amazing Remelt when pouring – I dragged it over to the corner. I left overnight to harden.

After the Amazing Remelt cured I could easily take out the ornament and the pop the remelt out of the container. The mold looks perfect – look how smooth the inside of the mold is!

I mixed a batch of Amazing Clear Cast Resin and pour a thin layer in the bottom of the remelt mold. I know you are supposed to spray the mold release in first but I forgot, but amazingly I had no issues. After about 6 hours I poured another thin layer of Amazing Clear Cast Resin. I repeated layering resin about 4 times.

After all the layers were made, I easily pulled the cast out of the mold with no damage to the mold. The top of the crawfish looks frosted but in the end it will look great.

Not only that, there was no pitting from the melting of the mold by the resin curing {thick/deep pours of resin generate heat during the curing process}. The secret is mixing small batches and pouring thin layers. While this is time consuming, Rome wasn't built in a day.

I had some chili pepper napkins that I thought would look great on the crawfish. So I separated the layers of napkin until I had just the printed layer.

I attached the napkin design side down to the back side of the resin crawfish. I want to paper to be attached to the back side and you look through the clear resin to see the design. I mixed a little Amazing Clear Cast Resin and used a Q-tip to glue the paper to the back of the crawfish.

After the backside cured, I used a Q-tip to apply a layer of resin to the front of the crawfish to bring the frosty look to shiny.

You can even layer the napkins for a cool effect.
How awesomely cool is this?

I had one little corner that I didn't get the resin even and didn't realize until I had taken the cast out of the mold. Regardless, the crawfish came out amazing!

What kind of ornaments will you
cook up in your Cre8time?

From Junking Find to #Cre8time Christmas Ornament... by Brenda Burfeind

Good day friends. Brenda with Creativity is a State of Mind with a unusual Christmas Ornament. If you follow me over at my blog at all, you know I love to go junking. I recently discovered a new "junk shop" in town and couldn't wait to get over there. Let me tell you, I was in heaven! I found this gentleman on Facebook and am totally amazed in the things he does. If you are at all a junker, go check out his Facebook page here. I explained what I do to Jon, and he is willing to let me come in an make molds of unique pieces as long as I continue to support him on Facebook and on my blog. Oh yeah!!!

Anyhow, I came across a few things that I purchased and I will share these over at my blog within the next couple of weeks. Today though I am sharing this AMAZING project with you here!

This piece totally intrigued me. I'm really not quite sure what it is and why, but I had to have it. It is very heavy and therefore I knew I for sure would be making a mold of it with the Amazing Mold Putty. That's one of the great things about using the Amazing Casting Products. You can take a very heavy object and turn it into a lightweight ornament and that is exactly what I did...

I mixed up my Amazing Mold Putty – you can view mixing instructions here.  Then I added some Alumilite Gun Metal Metallic Powder to my Amazing Casting Resin Part "A" and mixed thoroughly. You can view those mixing instructions here. Once that was mixed together well, I added my Part "B" and mixed again and poured into my mold. My original item is on the left of my mold, and cast resin piece on the right.

Then I gently rubbed some of the Alumilite Gold Metallic Powder over my piece.

Then added color with all the other fun Alumidusts. So many possibilities...

and now I have a new and very unique Christmas Ornament that won't weigh down my branches! Remember what I said earlier about lightweight...

Thanks for stopping by and I would love it if you told me
what unique item you would mold for a Christmas Ornament.

Until next time, happy crafting ~ Brenda

Christmas Cookie Ornaments Sparkling with Surprise by Isabel Villarreal

Hi there crafters! This is Isabel with another fun holiday idea for you. I know Thanksgiving isn't over yet but I get so excited about Christmas decorating that I just couldn't wait to get started on making tree ornaments. These sparkly stars are easy to make and they even pack their own small surprise.

These ornaments are made using a cookie cutter so they can be made in any shape you want. I chose a star for these but I'll be using other shapes to make more. The plan is to make these ornaments look like sugar cookies so I started by softening a chunk of Sculpey polymer clay. Once it was ready I flattened it with a rolling pin and pressed a plastic cookie cutter into the clay. Peel away the extra clay and after removing the cookie cutter, use an exacto or small utility knife to cut away anything hanging over or any irregular edges.

I made some small resin stars for a previous project and I have a few stashed away in my box o' crafty stuff so I used one to emboss the surface of my clay star. You can use buttons or any interesting shape to create a pattern on the surface of your ornament. About 7 minutes in a toaster oven ( I use a separate toaster oven for food prep) did the trick and my clay star was ready to mold.

To make the mold I used Amazing Mold Putty {please CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. After mixing the 2 parts together until they were an even yellow color, I quickly flattened it out and pressed the baked clay face down into the putty and left it there to cure for about 10 minutes. I got a nice impression from my clay star so I was happy. When I'm working on this type of project I like to make several molds to save myself time. I made two of these molds so I could make a couple ornaments at once.

With a small soft brush I coated the star with Alumidust powder, making sure to avoid the small pressed stars inside the shape. Alumidust comes in lots of great colors, so I picked out a few to try out. For the small star impressions I used a little of the Alumilite Phosphorescent Powder.

After dusting my star mold I mixed up some Amazing Casting Resin {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. The Amazing Casting Resin starts out clear and turns a solid opaque white when it's cured, and cures in about 10 minutes depending on temperature.

When removed from the mold my new resin ornaments have a nice even color and are ready to be decorated. I made sure to remove them while they were still a little soft and leave them to finish curing on a teflon sheet. When the resin is till soft it's much easier to trim away any over pour that may have occurred. I used my handy dandy Crop-A-Dile to punch a hole at the top of each star. I threaded some string  through a small jingle bell and then through the hole at the top.

Metallic markers accent the small inner stars and I added a bow made from glitter ribbon with a  strip of iridescent thin white ribbon to hold it on place.

And here's the little added surprise – the Alumilite Phosphorescent Powder makes the ornaments glow so you have a show stopping detail after the lights are out. How cool is that!

How will you use Amazing Mold Putty and
Amazing Casting Resin to decorate this holiday season?
