A Case of Inspiration by Rachel Whetzel

Hello, Creatives!! Rachel Whetzel, here, with a little inspiration for you this month!! Recently, hubby and I got NEW PHONES.

They came with really great sturdy cases from Otterbox, but they were BLACK. Black is great for the hubby, but I wanted something PRETTIER... There weren't any other color choices at Costco when we got the phones, and when I priced a prettier comparable case, I got a bit of sticker shock. Too much money for me to justify buying a new one, when the one I had was perfectly good, just not nice to look at. Then it hit me. I could decorate the hard shell of the Otterbox, and MAKE it pretty!!

I took a case that looked like this one:

Then I spray painted the plastic with some plastic friendly red spray paint, and got to work covering the rest with cool vintage ephemera papers, bits, paints and a vintage pin that I hammered flat. Once I was done, I coated it with Amazing Clear Cast Resin, and let it cure. The result is a super cool, ONE OF A KIND, totally ME cell phone case that is also waterproof!! You could do this with ANY cell phone case. Just make sure that the piece you apply your art to is made of hard plastic!!

Make a Smart Phone STAND on its HEAD!!!
AMAZING Inspiration by Michelle Frae Cummings

I have had my iPhone 4S for less than a year. And in this short time I have searched high and low for a suitable holder/stand on line and in retail stores.

They do exist, but unfortunately, they only work for phones with out their protective case.

So I have suffered as I am unwilling to leave my phone un-protectcted.

I wanted something so I could snap-photos and video with ease on a steady surface.

I wanted something that would allow me to listen to music effortlessly or watch instructional videos while I worked on a project.

I tried to cut a slit in the lid of a Tupperware container to hold the phone. Fail.

I tried to make a wire stand out of large paper clips. Fail.

I tried to make a (awkward) holder of wire, chunky beads and duct tape to shoot video... Epic fail!

Then recently I searched for tips on how to take better selfies with the iPhone. In reading the article, the writer suggested placing the phone in play dough to hold it up. At first I was horrified that anyone would use play dough, that can't be good for the phone, right?

Then BAM!

A light bulb went off and I thought of Amazing Mold Putty!

I simply covered the bottom portion of my phone with press and seal. Then I mixed equal amounts of Amazing Mold Putty parts "A" and "B", using half of each container. I made a nice solid round ball, pressed lightly onto a hard surface, then pressed in the bottom of the phone to about half way into the ball. I pressed the putty around the phone and held in place with my fingers until the putty began to harden.

After it was set, I trimmed out a small piece on each side of the base so the holder could accommodate the phone upright and side ways.

Now I have a perfectly stable holder that will not leave a mark or a scratch on my phone and will work anywhere, any time.... Thanks to Amazing Mold Putty and Amazing Crafting Products!

Who'd Have Thought... Revisiting Molds??
AMAZING inspiration by Isabel Villarreal

I'm sure you've heard it before:
"Save that because you might be able to use it for something else later."

Well, when it comes to casting with Amazing Mold Putty, you'll find that this is true again and again. Like any creative, I like to hold on to things so that at some future time I can dust off the cobwebs and reuse, reuse, reuse. A few months ago I made some altered paperclips and I had these super cute dessert molds that I wanted to revive with an all new purpose, but what to do?

Solution: Suction Cups!

This time around, when I cast my tiny little desserts using Amazing Casting Resin, I added some equally small suction cups to the backs just as the resin was at the "bubbling" stage of the curing process. As the resin cured, the suction cups were set permanently onto the surface. Once the resin was set I painted them and coated them with Amazing Clear Cast Resin.

I don't like to put a case on my cell phone since it makes it much too bulky, so I find myself constantly leaning my phone on things or holding it while I watch videos or movies...not anymore!! These babies are cute and functional – my favorite combo.

What new life and purpose will you give your molds?

I'd love to see what you create! Please upload and share your creations to the NEW
user GALLERY on the Amazing Mold Putty Website for all the world to see.
