Frosty in a #Cre8time Winter Wonderland... by Michele Kosciolek

Holiday crafting is my FAVORITE! And in Michigan winter is a holiday! Michele here today to share some wintery molding fun!

I used Amazing Mold Rubber and Amazing Casting Resin for the snowman in this festive lantern. I started with a ceramic ornament and molded it in Amazing Mold Rubber. First, I need to build a moldbox...

I hot glued him to the lid of the rubber container.

Next, I used some cardboard from a box I received some crafty goodness in to create my mold box. I created a cylinder shape and secured with tape – leaving at least 1/4" around all sides of the snowman original.

Make sure you seal completely around the bottom.
I used hot glue to seal the box to the lid.

Mix container of Amazing Mold Rubber according to the directions {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}.

And pour until whatever you are casting is completely covered. Set aside to cure.

After the rubber is cured, gently peel away the mold box.

Pull item from mold. If needed, carefully slit down the side of the mold with a blade so you can remove what you molded.

To prepare mold for resin casting, I used rubber bands
around the mold to make sure I had a good seal.

Then filled with Amazing Casting Resin

In about 15 minutes the snowman is cured and ready to remove from mold! Can you see all that texture??!

I used my Copic markers to do some coloring.

Add a little snow and a tree with lights...
and a cute little deer to complete the scene.

And viola! A cute wintery scene!

A perfect little place for Frosty to spend the winter!!!

How do you decorate for the holidays?

Thanks for joining us today. Until next time...
Happy Holidays!! ~ Michele

#Cre8time Critters in the Flower Garden... by Lara Hjorthoy #FlowerPower

Hello Fellow Creatives! Lara here and I'm so thrilled to start my time here at Amazing Casting Products, as part of their Creative Team!

Today, I'm going to share a little flower inspired Monster today, FLORA! After all April showers bring May Flowers! And on Monsters no less!!! Watch those hands while gardening my friends, she's sure to give you a tickle!

I first created Flora using Super Sculpey and cooked
her in the oven as per instructions.

Then created a mold box using corroplast {plastic foam core} and hot glue. I find this makes for a really strong box. You'll notice the tin foil flashing around the top of this box. I realized after adding Flora to the box, that she was a bit too tall for the box, so adding the flashing, makes sure I can pour the Amazing Mold Rubber completely over the top of her head.

Before I added the Mold Rubber, I chopped up an older mold that I wasn't using anymore and added the bits as a filler to portions of the box. This allows me to use less of the Mold Rubber in the end – a neat trick I learned on one of the many available videos on YouTube!

Then I prepared a batch of Amazing Mold Rubber, then filled up her mold and waited the 2-4 hours for it to set up. I live in a humid environment and it sets pretty quickly here! CLICK HERE to view mixing and preparation.

I love that I can wait such a short period of time, and then begin the casting process! It's a one day job and I can wind up with an army of creatures! When the mold has cured and I've removed it from the box, I snipped a tiny bit along the bottom edge, where her head is (the mold locked her into place and she was very hard to remove, I clamped the sides down with some foamcore and clamp tape, to keep it strong).

I then mixed and poured the resin. I love this stuff. Amazing Casting Resin sets up in an incredibly short time! You can watch it even as it starts to cure! CLICK HERE to view mixing and preparation.

Within 10-20 minutes, I have a Flora! All ready to go to be painted up!!!

And then... in no time, an entire army of Flora's!
My cat went insane!

For the painting process, I always have a reference, and let me tell you, the world has some beautiful lizards out there! There is sooooo much inspiration for colors it's hard to choose!

I decided this time, to keep her in spring mode, and chose this little guy as her paint scheme.

Airbrush, brushes, toothbrushes and more are used to get the texture's she needs, but in no time! She's completed!!! Welcome to Spring little monster Friend! I hope you enjoyed the process of FLORA! And that she inspired your own Monster Creations!

See you soon, Lara!

#Cre8time for an Arabian Night Adventure...
by Melissa Johnson

Hello everyone! Today I am sharing a project I made with an "Arabian Nights" inspiration using some of my favorite Amazing Casting Products

Me and a group of my artist friends are collaborating on a paper mache animal project (more on this on my blog next week). After I finished altering my camel with color, I painted the whole thing with the Amazing Clear Cast to add a really high gloss, almost glass-like appearance.

I knew I wanted to build a sort of shadow box to put my animal in, and I was just about to leave to go buy a box when I discovered this leftover Christmas box in a closet. Perfect! (I love recycling!)

I went to work on altering the box. I covered it in gesso, paint, and added some wrapping paper I bought at World Market to the inside. For the back, I used scrunched up tissue paper and Mod Podge. When that was dry I added Alumilite Pearlescent Powder to some Golden Clear Tar Gel and brushed it into the tissue, giving it a beautiful luster and texture.

I finished the box by adding details like vintage sari pieces for curtains, beads, a fun little rug I made from patterned paper and a piece of trim, and a piece that I molded and painted using Amazing Mold Putty and Amazing Casting Resin

And my finished project...
