Some Amazing News...

Hello Amazing Makers! It's a new month and we have some Amazing news to announce! Please give a warm welcome to some new additions to the Amazing Casting Products Creative Team. Each of these ladies are wonderful mixed media artists in their own rights and share our love for mold-making and casting.

Our Creative Team Leader Susan had the pleasure of spending meeting these ladies at an art retreat in Pennsylvania over the Labor Day weekend. It was a lot of fun to see what was found to mold/cast while antiquing – followed with a good old fashioned mold making marathon.

Please take some time to get to know these fabulous artists and show them some love. You can CLICK each of their names to visit their blogs/websites. We look forward to seeing what they create... prepare to be AMAZED and INSPIRED!!!

Born and raised in south east Michigan, I lived in Los Angeles for 15+ years but am back home for the last 10+ years.  I LOVE creating!  With paper, paint, resin...all of it! I am happiest when I am being creative! I am inspired by many things: architecture, nature, other artists and especially my nieces.  I look forward to inspiring others!!!

Although creating is a passion of Tracy's, her full-time job is working in Merchandising for the Direct Selling company Thirty-One Gifts in their corporate office (in Merchandising for a National Direct Selling Company in their corporate office).

She is a lifetime resident of Columbus, Ohio with her husband, two adult daughters, four dogs and two cats. She started with scrapbooking about 20 years ago which has morphed into mixed media, fabric, collage, painting and some assemblage. She is always up for learning new art processes and techniques. In her spare time when she isn't working or creating, she loves to go antiquing and go to the movies.

Aimée Wheaton... An AMAZING Artist Spotlight

Good Afternoon! Today we bring you a fun Q&A with one of our AMAZING Creatives... Aimée Wheaton - and we'll get to know her a little better! Aimée is a fabulous painter and mixed media artist who has wowed us with her artistic and creative twist on moldmaking and casting. Enjoy :) Sb

"I love to travel, spend time with family and dabble in photography when I'm not creating or playing with makeup. I've been doing mixed media art for about 10 years now and have learned and built on so many different skills as a result. I love how they all flow together seamlessly and can be interchanged to create something amazing. As a mom 2 two daughters I transformed our playroom into a studio for all three of us, it isn't used a whole lot but it's nice to know we can create together when we have time. My girls keep me on my toes as both just got into new hobbies, acting and dancing. I need to clone myself daily. I'm super happy to be on this fun design team, it's keeping me grounded in my foundations of creativity."

Some fun questions for the inquiring minds...

• • • • •

What did you want to be when you grew up?
"When I was young I wanted to be an artist living in NYC in a nice apartment with the option to travel the world, not sure where I thought the money would come from. As I got older I wanted to be a traveling photojournalist."

Coke or Pepsi???
"Neither - hate soda. Too sweet. Give me half sweet / half unsweet tea any day and not from a mix!"

What inspires you?
"I am inspired by nature, history, antique stores, and travel."

What is the TOP thing to do on your "Bucket LIST"?

The State Hermitage Museum (Winter Palace) - photo from Saint-Petersburg.com
"Go to St. Petersburg, Russia and visit the Winter Palace. Home of the last Romanov Tsar. I'm a Russian History Buff. Next would be to go to Greece."

If you could print any phrase
on a T-shirt, what would it say?

"Life is too short, LIVE each day to your best!"

If you could mold ANYTHING with
Amazing Mold Putty, what would it be?
"Water."

What style of music gets your creative juices going?
"For me it's usually music from the 1920's - 1940's or Cirque du Soleil soundtracks... sometimes classical. I can't do rock or anything super heavy it gets too distracting."
We hope you enjoyed this peek inside Aimée's world.

Thanks so much for dropping by! Check back later today for some AMAZING Inspiration from Aimée Wheaton... you don't want to miss it! CLICK HERE to head on over to Aimée's website "Aimée Wheaton Mixed Media Art and Design" and check out more of her fabulous work.

Welcome to some NEW Additions to Our Team AMAZING Creatives!!!

Good Afternoon! It's a new month and we have some Amazing news to announce! Please give a warm welcome to some new additions to the Amazing Crafting Products Creative Team. Each of these ladies are wonderful mixed media artists in their own rights and share our love for mold-making and casting.

Please take some time to get to know these fantasic artists and show them some love. You can CLICK each of their names to visit their blogs/websites. We look forward to seeing what they create... prepare to be AMAZED and INSPIRED!!!

** I'm so excited that Lynne is joining us - I was introduced to her work in the latest issue of Just Steampunk IV Magazine... and thanks to the graces of social media and shared love for Amazing Mold Putty and Amazing Casting Resin that we have been brought together.

Lynne Suprock currently designs, writes and conducts workshops in the art community. She began her career as a mixed media artist, after many years as a leader in nursing education. Since 2007, Lynne traded her skills in clinical nursing instruction for those tools of the trade used to teach art and design, as she continues to make a difference helping others.

She has been both vendor and instructor at Art & Soul Retreat, in Virginia Beach, VA, and The Art Is You Retreat in Stamford, CT,  CREATE, Somerset, NJ, and  Beadfest, Philadelphia, PA. She teaches locally at the Adams County Arts Council of PA and at The Charmed I’m Sure Studio in Mechanicsburg, PA.  As well, Lynne has published several articles in Belle Armoire Jewelry,  Jewelry Affaire Magazine,  PAGES, and Just Steampunk Magazine.  She also had two necklaces featured in 2013 Lark’s 500 Showcase Necklaces.

Visit her blog "Simply Pretty Stuffhere and get more information on her upcoming workshop at Art Is You Retreats in Stamford, CT by clicking here.

** I was introduced to the wonderful paintings by Aimée a year or two ago in doing volunteer work with Bernie Berlin's 'Revolution For Life' team for A Place to Bark. I had the great pleasure of spending the afternoon with Aimée {pronounced Ah-may} this past weekend, enjoying lunch, talking all about art, Amazing Crafting Products and becoming fast friends. We took a little excursion to do some artful junque-ing for some vintage treasures perfect for molding. We had an amazing time and since she too is a fellow Floridian – can't wait until our next ART-venture!

Aimée Wheaton has been a creative and professional graphic designer and visual artist for more than 20 years. Her love of art began when she was a young girl where she explored the use of bright colors and painted rocks and bottles. She earned her BA degree at SUNY Plattsburgh in Fine Arts and a minor in Graphic Design. She pursued her career in graphic arts and worked as a designer for 15+ years. Some of her designs were published in industry standard magazines.

She got tired of the corporate life and discovered mixed media art. Soon after came family life. Now she juggles being a wife, mother to her 2 young daughters and her art career. Residing in Florida she participates in local art/gallery events as well as sells her art online and in local boutiques. She also has begun teaching online classes in 2014.

You can visit Aimée's website www.aimeewheaton.com and her latest class "Painting from Your Soul" is available here http://gracefulartist.com/paintingfromyoursoul/.

My Anchor - 12x12 Layout by DeeDee Catron

Hiii ACP Fans!! How are you today??

DeeDee here bringing you a bit of inspiration on using our favorite molding and casting supplies. If you've been following the ACP blog long, you'll know that I adore layouts, cards and tags, and my favorite embellishments tend to be vintage found bits. Well today I'm using a super vintage styled anchor from my stash o' goodness.

Anytime I'm in the thrift store, or at a garage sale or even just walking down the street and see something (old jewelry, buttons, frames) for a $1, 25 cents or for FREE if it's on the street, I pick it up! If I really love it, I clean it up a bit and mold it with my Amazing Mold Putty, like this anchor! The original is always great to use in projects, but when I'm just head over heels for something and will want to use it a million times, I can thanks to Amazing Mold Putty. It's just a quick equal part mixture worked together in your hands. Cover your piece in it and allow it to cure. Then it's ready to be cast in any material you want; sculpy, paper clay, wax, soap ... or ... like in this piece the Amazing Casting Resin.

Amazing Casting Resin cures in under 10 minutes (closer to 5) and cures a super brilliant stark white color. Which  makes it great for alteration, either afterwards with paints and inks, or during cure time with dyes and powders. I achieved the finish on my anchor simply by mixing equal parts of the Amazing Casting Resin with a little drop of African American Alumilite Dye. Before I poured the resin into my mold, I dusted the mold with a little bit of Silver Alumilite Metallic Powder. By dusting the mold instead of mixing the powder into the resin I got a more old/rustic feel.

Other Products:

  • Viva Las VegaStamps! Rubber Stamps (Directional Circle, Whimsical Cloud)
  • UmWowStudio (Star Confetti, Chevron Confetti)
  • Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (Charcoal)
  • Glitz Design paper
  • Ranger Archival Ink (Black)
  • Prima Bark Stars
  • Tim Holtz Tissue Tape
  • black pen, spray adhesive, adhesive, thread

Have you found any junk objects that
would look great on a layout?

Join me on my own blog to read more
about the process of the entire layout! - DeeDee

Feed Your Soul {AMAZING Blank Canvasses}
by DeeDee Catron

Hi everyone, DeeDee here today to INSPIRE you with my favorite... THING about Amazing Casting Resin

I will never ever, without a doubt, be over the the fact that once cured, it's this beautiful, stark white, super clean blank canvas. It just IS. It's there, all crisp and clean and gorgeous, BEGGING me to color it, mist, ink it, stamp it, paint it... WHATEVER! Basically... It says "Do with me what you will." And who doesn't like hearing that, eh?

To start, I sculpted an acorn from sculpy clay. I cut it in half and beefed it up a little then baked it. After it was cooled off it was ready to be molded using Amazing Mold Putty.

After the putty was cured I could pull out the clay original
and fill it with Amazing Casting Resin. I gave it 15 minutes...

...then pulled out these superbly beautiful acorns!

I used them on a card! To alter them I've doused them in Glimmer Glaze, covered them in glitter and seed beads, then doused the caps in more glaze for a darker more realistic look.

Other supplies: UmWowStudio Sunflower Chipboard, May Arts Burlap String, Viva Las VegaStamps! rubber stamps, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze, Distress ink, Archival ink, kraft and white cardstock, a vintage button, seed beads and ebeads.

I LOVE Sugared Resin Acorns!
What ways might you alter your white resin?
Markers? Paint? Nail Polish?
