#Cre8time Eyes are Slimy... SpOoKy Altered Jar by Susan M. Brown {sbartist}

Hello AMAZING Makers!! Halloween is right around the corner and my Cre8time broom is charged up and racing about! Today I'm thrilled to share this brand new SpOoKtacular Halloween project created with stuff I have around the house {crafty stuff included}.

Tuesday is my favorite day of the week! For me it's recycling day and I am always inspired as to what I may find in my recycling bin to use in my Cre8time adventures. Today I am altering a jar using Amazing Casting ProductsEtchall® Etching Creme and a few things from my crafty stash...

...transforming this salsa jar into a spooky jar containing "Eyes of Newt"!

I begin by soaking the label off of the bottle and using some rubbing alcohol to clear off any residual glue and stamped information on the glass and I am ready to get to work CREEPin' it up!

But before I move ahead with etching glass – I mix up some Amazing Clear Cast Resin with some Fluorescent Green Dye and Phosphorescent Powder {the same batch from my poison apples}, then pour a little in the bottom of the jar and set aside overnight to cure.

Next I create the words on my computer to cut vinyl on my Cricut Expression Air. I have created a mask to etch "eye of newt" onto the glass Etchall® Etching Créme. The process is easy, though there is more prep work involved to make the etched magic... please CLICK HERE to pop over and see tutorial on just the etching.

The combination of the etched letters and the Green Glowing Resin look so SpOoKy... but I'm going to CREEP it up MORE!

Using Amazing Mold Putty I quickly created a mold of a piece of bleached bone that has a bit of a curve to it and an old broken faucet handle. I then cast 4 pieces of bone and one handle with Amazing Casting Resin to give me some pieces to embellish the lid of my recycled jar. This resin cures a lovely opaque white and in about 10-15 minutes I have resin pieces ready to alter.

With my resin pieces ready... I add a patina finish to the jar lid and resin pieces with Ranger Adirondack alcohol inks {gold and pitch black}, then rubbing the high points with a gold paste wax. In less than 10 minutes all of my white resin castings and metal recycled bits are all wearing the same grungy patina! FINGERS TOO – LOL!!

Now for the super SLIMY finishing touch...

**BEWARE** The following is how I made my slimy "eyes of newt". I used a food product BUT THE WAY I HAVE DONE THIS makes it NOT SAFE TO EAT -- FOR DISPLAY ONLY. You are going to want to only prepare/use this when you're going to have this on display for a party {because it will mold... it gets real gross, pretty fast}. I soaked some Chia seeds in water. When Chia seeds are soaked in liquid they swell up sort of like a tapioca, but not so large and they have little black thingy in the middle that looks like an eye. I happened to have some in my pantry for use in smoothies! PERFECT! I added a bit of my fluorescent Green Alumilite resin die and Alumilite Phosphorescent powder with some rubbing alcohol to this to add additional spooky glow. I will say the combination of the water soaked seeds made it hard for the dye and powder to dissolve and sort of negated the glowy-ness. Next time I will just add some green food coloring. I may go back and add more glowing resin to the jar for next time.

To complete the top of the lid... I have combined the handmade cast resin pieces from some found objects, some wire, bead findings and a recycled mini perfume bottle {which also has a bit of glowing resin inside}. I used some wire to wrap the ends of each resin bone together with a wire wrapped bead between, then twisted wire snugly to secure around edge of jar lid. The top of the jar is layered with the recycled perfume bottle atop of the resin cast faucet handle.

The completed jar is just so SpOoKy cool!!

The jar looks so amazing by itself, though I have a few other oddities to cluster with this gruesome collection of eyes. The faux slimy eyes will only last a day or two, so I will discard the "eyes" and rise out the jar... and the FOOD SAFE glowing green resin goodness in the bottom will remain – ready and waiting for next Halloween.

What items would you mold and cast
to embellish your Altered Art?

Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree... AMAZING #Handmade Garland by Isabel Villarreal

I'm pretty sure at this point every one of you has already finished decorating your tree but because I was busy and because I'm a sometimes procrastinator and mostly because I like to get in my own way as often as possible I decided to wait until this past weekend to go out and buy one. The bad news is that at this point all the cool ornaments and decorations have been bought and the choices on the shelves are slim and slightly sad from being pushed around and rearranged.

The good news is that since I'm a crafter, I get to play around with Amazing Casting Products' resins and dyes while making fun stuff for my tree. I already had lights, ornaments and various other things I love to throw on the tree just to make it slightly weird... but really, what my tree wanted this year was a banner. Yes. It needed a message.

On the off chance that I would need them sometime and also because I know you can always use letters when crafting – I created an alphabet mold using dollar store plastic letters and Amazing Mold Rubber

Aha!! Letters... Message... I knew these letter molds would come in handy!

I brushed the letters I would be using with Alumilite Gunmetal Metallic Powder. A little Alumilite Black Dye mixed in some Amazing Casting Resin goes into the mold and 15 minutes later I had perfect metallic letters. I removed the letters from the mold while they were still soft so that I could scissor away any rough edges or over spill.

Amazing Mold Putty makes my life so easy! I just mixed up a batch of putty to make a quick mold with a nice flat surface that could be used as a canvas. Using Alumilite Fluorescent Dyes, I drew a pattern in my mold and filled it with Amazing Casting Resin.

Amazing Casting Resin dries a solid white color and my hope was that the pattern would be picked up and cured into the resin as it was setting. Yup... it worked! The swirled dye was still a little wet when I removed it from the mold, but that was all part of my plan...

Next step – add a layer of Amazing Clear Cast Resin with a bit of Alumilite Pearlescent Powder, then drop the letter in the middle of the circle. The Clear Cast softens the dye pattern even more and the colors swirl together as the resin is setting. I'm loving these neon colors! I made 2 banners: one with swirled color and the other with neon polka dots.

Drill a hole on each side and at the top center. A couple of brass fasteners on each side hold each individual letter plate onto the gold glitter ribbon. I added some small skulls and ribbons between each letter to satisfy little bit of my dark side. And look at how awesome this looks when lit from behind with Christmas lights! Love. It. My tree has a banner and everyone is merry.

What will you do with Amazing Mold Rubber
and Amazing Mold Putty this season?

I'd love to see what you create! Please upload and share your creations to the

"Tie a Purple Ribbon 'Round..." AMAZING Resin Ribbon Bracelet by Brenda Burfeind

Hi there, it's Brenda again to show you an amazing fall bracelet. About a week ago I showed you how to resin your mulberry paper and if you missed it, you can go HERE to check out the post. Since it worked so well I decided to try adding resin to some ribbon...and I LOVE the outcome!

First start by mixing your Alumilite Violet Dye to part "A" of the Amazing Clear Cast Resin. Make sure to mix it up well and then mix that with your part "B" of the Amazing Clear Cast Resin again, stirring well to get it all mixed together well.

Then I used a piece of packing foam (recycled) as my sponge and "painted" it onto the ribbon coating both sides on top of a garbage bag. Leave your ribbon on the garbage bag to dry and it will just lift right off when it has dried. Once it's dry it becomes hard but yet still pliable.

I made a leaf using the Amazing Clear Cast Resin with Alumilite (Flo) Green Dye. Doesn't it look like glass? I used a brown sharpie to add the veins on the leaf and then "painted" another coat of Amazing Clear Cast Resin over the top of that to shine up the "sharpie".

I attached the leaf with some E6000® and there I have an amazing fall bracelet.

I also used my Crop-A-Dile™ to attach some eyelets to the "ribbon" and added a clasp.

How would you use ribbon covered

Thank you for stopping by and I will see you in a couple of weeks with another Inspiration Post. Until then, I would love it if you came over to Creativity is a State of Mind. ~ Brenda

They're Watching!!! Owls... I See Owls Everywhere. AMAZING Inspiration from Maria Soto

Hi, this is Maria Soto bringing you an inspiration post. I love the colors of fall, I love owls too and well recently I joined a swap group for which we had to make owl charms, any type of materials were acceptable. I know I could have gone to the store and purchase some cute charms, but I thought it would be much nicer to make some using the Amazing Casting Resin along with some of the pretty Alumilite Metallic Powders and Alumilite Dyes.

This was my first swap, and well I really didn't know all charms had to be the same, so here I made all 20 charms different, guess I like to craft a lot. I had three different types of charms and all made from the same resin, some I added red dye into the resin and others I added copper metallic powder.

I have some extra charms that are ready to use and wear, it was fun adding wire, beads, bottle caps, fibers, etc. to each charm to make them all unique.

One of the owl molds I made using the two part Amazing Mold Putty (use as directed).

An Amazing Casting Resin owl charm made using a bottle cap, Beadalon's Artistic wire mesh, colored wire and beads.

Another Amazing Casting Resin Owl charm made using Beadalon's Artistic wire mesh and beads strung on colored wire.

Resin Owls added to previously made polymer clay and metal charms.

These resin owls were made into charms by using fibers, wire and beads.

I used a gold owl used as an embellishment on this
paper treat box I made for my office desk.

I hope I have inspired you to get creative, to try Amazing Casting Resin to create items that you can transform into something unique just by adding different materials, different types of paints, one item can look so different just by what you chose to embellish with once it's made out of resin.

Put Your Finger on Some AMAZING Upcycled Art!!! Spooky Apothecary Jar Tutorial by Tracy Alden

Hello! Tracy here with another Amazing Crafting Products tutorial! I just love altered art bottles and jars. It is so much fun to start with something simple and make a wonderful decor item. With Halloween just a short time away, I thought any self-respecting spooky apothecary, mad scientist or enchanter wouldn't do without a creepy jars of zombie fingers!

Supplies:
  • Amazing Mold Putty
  • Amazing Casting Resin
  • Amazing Clear Cast Resin
  • Alumilite Dyes in Black, Brown, Blue and Flo Green {Flo = Fluorescent}
  • Martha Stewart Crafts Multi-Surface Craft Paint in Beetle Black, Summer Linen, Chestnut Brown, and Habanero
  • Old jam or olive jars, cleaned and dry
  • Denim scrap fabric
  • Raffia
  • Small canvas scraps
  • Black ink pen
  • Black permanent ink pad, Tea leaves, used and dried Cosmetic sponges
  • Paint brush

I started off molding my own thumb and first finger using Amazing Mold Putty. I made up a small amount first to cover the front of my fingers snug and then squished on a second piece to mold the pad of my fingers. While the mold was setting I couldn't move my fingers but it set up rather quick and came off easy. I also made molds of my husbands thumbs so I would have a variety of fingers to cast.

Because these were odd shaped molds I put 3 at a time in plastic cups to keep them upright while I poured the Amazing Casting Resin into the molds and let them cure.

Because of the odd shape of the molds, I had to carefully squeeze the casted resin out of the molds. I found out doing this when the resin had set up but was still warm was the best time to try to remove them. Once out of the mold I removed any sharp edges with a emery board and a craft knife.

I was able to make 3 to 4 castings out of each mold before I noticed some tearing and stress on the molds because of how I was removing the castings. In the future I think I will place a small dowel or bone shape in the middle of the resin while it sets up in each finger mold to make it easier to pull them out. I used the Alumilite Dyes; Fluorescent (Flo) Green for the green, and a mix of Black, Blue and Green for the gray fingers.

Using a cosmetic I applied the Habanero Multi-Surface Craft Paint to the fingers in light smudges, making sure to get the ends of the nails and the end joints. By applying the red paint now it will come off old and more rotted with the other paint layered over it.

Again using a cosmetic sponge, I applied the Chestnut Brown
Multi-Surface Craft Paint to the fingers in light smudges.

I mixed the Beetle Black Multi-Surface Craft Paint with some water to make a color wash and applied it with a paint brush, being careful to get the nails, creases and cracks in the fingers. I used a paper towel to remove the excess. I then used a sealer on all of the painted fingers.

I then poured Amazing Clear Cast Resin into the jars (filling the jars 1/8), tinting the resin with Alumilite Fluorescent (Flo) Green and Brown Dyes. I then sprinkled some dry tea leaves into the resin, giving the illusion of dirt. I carefully stirred the leaves in and rolled the resin around the insides of the jar to make it look like it was covered in muck.

Carefully I added the resin zombie fingers to the jars,
positioning them with a long coffee stirrer.

I then poured more Amazing Clear Cast Resin (not tinted with dyes),
on top of the fingers to make sure they didn't move around. I then let this cure.

Once the resin was cured I put the lids of the jars back on
and tied on scraps of denim with raffia to give it an old time look.

I then trimmed the denim close to the jar and rubbed permanent ink
on the fabric to age it. I made tags for each jar and tied them on with the raffia.

There you have it!
Some spine tingling decor with a with an upcycled twist! :)
