A #Cre8time Game of Horseshoe... AMAZING Inspiration from Brenda Burfeind

Good day Crafties! Brenda here from Creativity is a State of Mind and today I want to share some inspiration... another project I've made using a mold I created a while back!

As you may remember... this "lucky" sign that I created
from molding/casting a real horseshoe.

Or my first horseshoe make – this red, white and blue star?
If you missed them, you can view these projects HERE.

There is a little history as to why I molded this particular horseshoe. When we bought our house we found this horseshoe among some flowers in a flower bed. My husband said, "this was going to be our LUCKY horseshoe and it needed to stay in the yard". It's very old and rusty, but it's been with us ever since (now 16 years).

I've used the same horseshoe mold filled with Amazing Casting Resin and a bit of Alumilite Dye. I rubbed the resin cast horseshoe with some paint to age and distress, then wrapped with some colored twine to create a faux twine-wrapped horseshoe to hang in my home. Now I can enjoy this "lucky" charm every day.

What I love best about Amazing Casting Resin is that once it's cured it is almost weightless. Imagine if you hung a real horseshoe on a wall in your home and it wasn't hung properly. If it would fall it could hurt someone or break something... but made with Amazing Casting Resin it is featherlight!

You can also paint plain white resin castings to create very different variations! Wouldn't this make a wonderful rustic gift topper?!

Oh and by the way, my horseshoe sign made it on the new packaging for Amazing Casting Resin! I love seeing my creations on their product. You can find it at Michael's, Hobby Lobby and of course online at MoldPutty.com!

I hope I've inspired you to use the Amazing Casting Products to create your own custom home decor that is very lightweight and so easy to recreate! I've used this mold a several times now and it is still as strong and detailed as the original!

What items would you mold
to accent your home decor?

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will come back often to see what the other designers have created!

Until next time, Happy Crafting! ~ Brenda

#Cre8time Arting from Nature... Flowers with Rocks or Resin by Brenda Burfeind

Good day friends! Brenda here from Creativity is a State of Mind with a fun Pinterest redux. Now I love searching Pinterest and finding things to make. My only thing is that I don't make it exactly the way I see it – I love putting a twist on things. SO let's get started!

This was my inspiration for this project. I absolutely love these,
but I love to add my own take on the things I make.

Side 1 of my rock that I found.

Side 2 – I loved all the texture it had!

I created a mold using my Amazing Mold Putty and you can see how to prepare your putty for molding HERE. I mixed the Amazing Casting Resin with Alumilite Violet Dye for both rocks. You can view mixing instructions for resin HERE. Each resin piece took about 10 minutes to set up.

Another great thing is that my new resin rocks are light as can be!

I needed a center, so I dug through my box of odds and ends of resin pieces and found this that I had molded awhile back {CLICK HERE to see that project}.

I just cut the necklace part off with my craft knife – I also love that it has texture.

Then I painted it with some green and purple acrylic paint.

While I was making my resin rocks, I worked on my board. This is 100 year old barnwood and it's so gorgeous! I stained and varnished it.

I went into my back yard and found some twigs to use for floral stems.

When all my faux rocks were made I laid
everything out on my board for placement.

I did use some Rub 'n Buff® to bring out the texture of my purple flower, and used the same green acrylic paint to highlight my "stem". Then I glued everything down with E6000®. I also glued some acrylic beads to the center.

So, what do you think? I'm so thrilled with how this turned out.
I cannot wait to hang it on my deck!

What would you mold to create
your very own flower plaque?

Thank you for stopping by and make sure
to check out all the other designers' projects.

Until next time, Brenda!

Candles are Lit... the Halloween Dinner Table is SET! AMAZING Chicken Feet by Rachel Whetzel

Happy Halloween everyone! Rachel here today with a special Amazing Mold Rubber project... and the finishing touch to my Witch's Apothecary mantle and will be great for the Halloween feast too.

A while ago, I was mindlessly skimming images researching awesome artsy inspiration on Pinterest, and I came across a listing for a vintage set of candle sticks with a VERY interesting twist. They where bronzed CHICKEN'S FEET.

The candlesticks were sold, already, and I haven't been able to locate any others, so I decided to do what ANY creative woman would do. I decided to MAKE my own. I started out with an interesting candle stick that I found at the thrift store.

What you'll need:

I knew from my last piece using Amazing Mold Rubber, that I needed to make my mold with as little extra space around my piece as possible, so I decided to use a Solo Cup for the sides again.

I cut the cup's bottom and rim off, so that I could create a funnel easily, and made the funnel with just enough room for the top of the candlestick to fit through.

I put the larger end of the funnel at the bottom of the mold, and taped up the sides to keep the rubber from seeping out. I used Amazing Mold Putty to create the bottom of the mold, and to help with the seal of the bottom of the piece. Then I laid my candle stick in, and got it secured by using wire to hold it in place at the top of the mold. There was a hole all the way up the center of the candle stick (I removed the bottom. It unscrewed easily and made it easier to pour the Amazing Mold Rubber into the mold.) so I was able to settle the cup part of the stick into the mold rubber without worrying about air pockets. Once I got the cup settled, I mixed a second small batch of Amazing Mold Rubber and poured it into the mold.

To make taking my molds out easier, I cut a slit down the side of my mold once it was set, and when I poured my Amazing Casting Resin, I held it closed with some rubber bands around the outside.

Here are the finished resin pours! As you can see, I didn't mold the whole candle stick. I didn't need to, because I planned to make the rest of the piece with Creative Paperclay®

I hand sculpted the chicken's feet using the Etsy listing as my reference. When the feet were done, I connected them to the resin tops using more clay. Once they were dry, I painted them black, and added some metal patina to them. I think they turned out pretty awesome!! Because Creative Paperclay® and Amazing Casting Resin are not flame retardant, I don't plan to actually USE these, but they will make a really cool addition to my Witch's Apothecary mantle.

What One of Kinds are YOU turning into
TWO of a kind using Amazing Crafting Products?

Please share your projects in the comments below! If you create something inspired by my idea, please leave a comment with a link here, so I can come and visit to see! I would love for you to visit me at my "house" too!! Thank you so much for reading!! ~ rachel
