It's #Cre8time... TAG - You're It! AMAZING Resin Present Tags with Tanya Ruffin

Christmas is a busy time, lots of presents under the tree, people tearing through packages to get to the goodies... that Christmas morning call, "hey, did you get my present?"

Wouldn't it be nice if they remembered your presents just by the wrapping, ribbon or the TAG?!

Well I have your solution!

My hubby and I have four cairn terriers. Yes, you read that right, FOUR! A few years ago I can across some cute cairn terrier pins. I bought two knowing one day I would do something with them. At the time I thought I would give one to my mom and one for myself. The other day I came across them and thought about using them to craft a tag. When I bought the pins I only had one terrier...

So I found the best arrangement of the pins so all four dogs could be seen.

Then I taped a craft stick through the back so they
wouldn't move while I was making the mold.

I then slid the craft stick out after I placed the grouping into
the Amazing Mold Putty {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}.

I then used the Alumilite Pick Set to press the pins farther down into the Amazing Mold Putty

You really need to press it down so the Amazing Mold Putty raises up between the dogs.

Fill your mold with Amazing Casting Resin {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. I even mixed some Alumilite Black Dye for resin in this mix.

My first cast I attempted to make it the same color as my dogs. I also used some copper Rub 'n Buff®, but it didn't have enough contrast. I ended up painting the whole thing with black acrylic paint.

Craft fail!

I used a Marvy tag paper punch for my package tag.

I used gold Rub 'n Buff® on the black resin dogs and glued them to the tag.

Some of my resin dog sets came out a darker black than others, but that is ok.

Now I just need to make about 30 more tags for Christmas presents so everyone will know which packages came from me!

"Don't you forget about me..."
(Sorry, I had an 80's moment)!

The real deal!

Left to right: Lily, Sassy, Sweet Pea, and Duncan.

Instead of just making resin pendants
and charms - turn them into a tag!

AMAZING Casting Resin Lion Head... HOWTO by DeeDee Catron

hi hi HI!! :)

I'm excited to be back on the Amazing Crafting Products blog. Though my small break was needed, I'm ready to be back and start inspiring again.

You may have seen this tag around recently by me. It was made for a blog hop a week or so ago, and the lion head is Amazing Casting Resin! WELL >>> there happened to be a little bit of buzz about him, and I took the opportunity to share a how-to with everyone :) .

For the tutorial and a new tag, I opted to make my lion a bit of a grungy metal dude and am super excited to share my video with you, BUT first let me show you the tag:

Now onto the video and then some details :) :

If you have trouble viewing the video please CLICK HERE to view.

The top is made of some UmWowStudio gears distressed with ink, moss, Prima Marketing flowers, goggles, nest, leaves and wings, and my Lion Casting. It's all been layered up and adhered down with a heavy thick glue.

The tag base is paper from 7 Dots Studio cut with a Sizzix #8 die. It's been colored with Lindy's Stamp Gang magicals and stamped with a VLVS! rubber stamp. Two final pieces of embellishment consist of a miniature door handle and my message which reads "We All Stem From Nature." It's sort of a stab at the Steampunk genre and reminding ourselves that regardless of how many gears, how much metal, how many rivets... we're all just animals :)

Thanks for visiting me here today.

A #Cre8time Gathering for an AMAZING Fall Harvest {How To by DeeDee Catron}

Hi hi hi friends! DeeDee here today, it's been a while but I'm excited to be back on the Amazing Crafting Products blog sharing some of my works with you.

Today I'm doing a start to finish photo tutorial in a super FALL HARVEST theme. I'm so pumped for September right around the corner, and can't wait for the weather here in Vegas to relax just a little bit more. Let's get started shall we?

1) Start with a tag base. My tag is a sheet of 7 Dots Studio paper by
Finnabair cut using a Sizzix / Tim Holtz die.

 2) Distress edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and water.

3) Mix equal parts of Amazing Mold Putty parts "A" and "B".

4) Form Amazing Mold Putty around acorns.

TIP: I like to have a nice flat back of my resin pieces to secure to the paper
or project that I'm working on. SO I only mold half way around the piece.

5) Mix equal parts of Amazing Casting Resin and pour acorns.
Allow to cure, demold.

6) Build up base of tag with stamps, ribbons,
flowers, and embellishments.

7) I felt like my acorns needed some texture and color, so I embossed
them with some WOW copper embossing powder.

I love altering the Amazing Casting Resin AFTER it's cured (as opposed to before),
because I don't need to worry about altering my mold or changing the original piece.

8) Distress with black acrylic paint.

9) Finish by layering the acorns up and adhering a sentiment.

There really are .. a TON of ways to finish your resin pieces;
glass beads, adhesives, powders, flocking, inks, mists, paints, more resin!
What have you always wanted to try?

It's a Tag! It's a Tangle! It's an AMAZING Mold Putty Piece by Sandra Strait

Hi, this is Sandra. I was invited to be a the guest designer at the Anything But a Card Challenges blog for their upcoming August challenge {which officially launches Sunday, August 3rd at 9am EST}, and I'm here to share the project I created. This is a little sneak peek!

It's a Tag! It's a Tangle! It's an Amazing Mold Putty Piece!
Yes! It's all those things and more!

The theme for the Anything But a Card Challenges August Challenge will be "REPEATING Motifs" a.k.a. PATTERNS.

For my challenge piece, I glued string to a manila tag, using the Zentangle® pattern Hibred. Of course, this is also a pattern of great antiquity that you may have seen decorating walls or used in quilting or gourd painting. But the Zentangle pattern breaks it down into nice, easy steps so anyone can draw it. The steps worked well for my tag. Instead of drawing a line, I just glued down a piece of string.

Once I had my tag complete, I created a mold with Amazing Mold Putty {please CLICK HERE for mixing/preparation}.

The casting was a bit of an experiment. I poured Amazing Casting Resin into the deepest parts first {please CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}.

Then I laid down three kinds of paper scraps
(repeating each type, so they became a pattern as well).

Then I poured a second batch of Amazing Casting Resin, and used a popsicle stick to keep the paper as flat as possible. Of course, some of the resin leaked around the paper, but that means every time I do this, I'll get a unique piece of art.

I pulled my piece from the mold as soon as the Amazing Casting Resin was solid so I could trim off bits that stuck out. I could also easily add a few more holes to increase the 'lace' look.

At this point, the tag made me think of Christmas Trees. I thought of painting it that way, but the theme for this challenge is "Repeating Motifs" and I wanted to bring the pattern out a little more.

So I tinted the lines of the Hibred pattern, and called it a day.

The piece is kinda neat. When it's lying on a desk or paper, it looks frosty and lacy. When you hold it up to the light, it turns luminescent, and the embedded paper casts interesting shadows and colors. I still have the original tag, which I had glued to foam core, so I can use it as stamp and for gelli plate printing. What AMAZING possibilities!

I urge you to visit the Anything But a Card Challenges blog. The August challenge will be up soon... and since you already know the theme – you can start your project now. Please do not share it before the new challenge starts {challenge officially begins this upcoming Sunday, August 3rd at 9am EST}! Remember, it can be ANYTHING -- but a card!
