#Cre8time Fashion Forward... #DIY Floral Hat Pin by Aimée Wheaton

Create these painterly flowers to add flair to your hats or scarves.

Hello, creatives! Aimée here today sharing a new project that was a test for me. I wanted to see if I could create a larger mold out of smaller molded objects glued together and I'm happy to say that my Amazing Casting Products didn't fail the test!!

I really had a lot of fun with this project – it is so versatile. My original thought was to drill holes on both sides and create a cuff necklace. I may still experiment with that. I've never combined molded/cast items to create a larger molded piece so I was really excited when it worked for me.

So here we go!

The first thing I did was to create a mold of this metal leaf I had cut off of a home decor piece. I mixed two equal parts of Part "A" and Part "B" of Amazing Mold Putty and formed it around the leaf. CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation.

You can see the impression here. :) It's a reusable mold now.

Next, I mixed equal parts of Amazing Casting Resin and poured into the different flowers molds I had (from previous projects) to create different flowers. CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation.

I love molding flowers apparently! When the resin cured I arranged them in a resin bouquet and hot glued them together to arrange one solid piece. I could have stopped here – but I wanted to take it one step further...

So I used Amazing Mold Putty again to create a larger mold of these united all together as one piece. You can see the glued piece, the solid piece, and the mold together here!

I filled this new mold with Amazing Casting Resin.

This results in a beautiful opaque white resin piece... a blank canvas for embellishing! I painted the solid piece with acrylic paint and added some blingy glitter. I sealed it with a varnish and then glued on a pin back so it can be used on a hat.

Here it is!!

I like how Frida Kahlo-esque it looks!

What do you think?

Let's see what you can
create by combining molds!

#Cre8time Stash Busting... AMAZING Resin Paper Jewelry by Tracy Alden

Hello! Tracy with another Amazing Casting Products tutorial! The idea of coating and sealing paper with resin is an old one and I love the look. In the process of cleaning up I found a stash of paper scraps that I just couldn't throw away but wasn't too sure what to do with. Looking at the pieces I got to thinking of how pretty they would be as jewelry, with the help of Amazing Clear Cast Resin.

Supplies:

I first started off with the paper I wanted to use, sorted it by size and type.

Since I wanted the colors on the decorative paper to be enhanced by the resin, by coating and not soaking it in resin, I sealed the pieces with Liquitex Gloss Varnish, coating the front and back of each piece. I let each piece fully dry.

I cut the paper pieces into smaller sizes to create focal shapes. I mixed up some Amazing Clear Cast Resin, and applied it to the back of the paper pieces with a cosmetic sponge and let it fully cure, laying it on baking parchment paper {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. Once cured, I flipped over the resin coated papers and applied Amazing Clear Cast Resin to the front of the paper, again using a cosmetic sponge. I added just a bit more resin to the front of the paper and smoothed it with a stir stick to get a nice high gloss coating of resin. Any drips I cleaned up with baby wipes.

**TIP** I use reusable dish gloves whenever applying resin with a sponge, for easier clean up and to prevent resin from getting under my nails.

I let the Amazing Clear Cast Resin cure to the point it was dry to the touch but still slightly flexible, I peeled the pieces off the parchment paper and trimmed any resin drips with a sharp pair of craft scissors. I placed the resin pieces back onto the parchment paper to fully dry.

Using a jewelry punch I punched holes through the now cured
resin paper on the top corners of each piece.

I opened up a jumpring with the flat nose pliers, put the jumpring through one of the resin pieces and attached it to the next larger resin piece.

Each piece made a link creating the focal element of the necklace.

After threading several beads on to a jewelry eyepin, I used a Beadsmith 1 Step Looper Tool to cut and finish each beaded link.

Using the flat head pliers I connected all of the links
together with jumprings and chain.

The finished necklace is light weight but gives
the illusion of embossed metal!

With the addition of flat backed gems, crystals and paper embellishments there is any number of amazing paper jewelry pieces you can create!

Mardi Gras Hangover?? Mask it with #Cre8time Leftovers by Tanya Ruffin

On a recent trip to the Dollar Store I saw some foil masks in a package of six. Well, of course my mind went to what I could make with them... so I picked them up and pondered what magnificent things could be made... instead I made this! (a little self deprecating humor is supposed to make me charming, right?) Just kidding, I love it!

I started out with a lot of left over resin pieces made with Amazing Casting Resin. I had a gazillion little boxes with pieces/parts, so I picked out ones that looked Mardi Gras-ish with a little steampunk attitude.

You could recreate this using odds and ends from around your house or craft room... Think keys, screws, small light bulbs, coins, items from gumball machines... the ideas are endless!

With some E-6000, I glued everything to the mask.

Dollar Store masks!

Arrange and glue cast pieces onto mask base.

Just look at some of the treasures on this piece!

Doesn't matter what color the pieces are – we will paint it all!

I took it outside and spray painted it all black.

I then pulled out some Pearl Ex Powdered Pigments colors that worked for Mardi Gras: Spring Green, Misty Lavender and Metallic Gold. I used a matte gel medium to mix with the powders and a q-tip to apply the color lightly to the surface, apply same as you would a rub-n-buff.

I alternated the colors to give a Mardi Gras effect.

I think it came out rather nicely!

What can you make with your resin left overs?

Turning Valentine's Day Candy into AMAZING Wearable Fun! A Tutorial by Tracy Alden

Hello! Tracy here with another Amazing Crafting Products tutorial! This week's tutorial I was inspired by some little goodies Susan M. Brown {sbartist}, our Amazing Crafting Products Creative Team Leader, gave me when we met at the Craft and Hobby Association show last week! She had found some fun things while in California, perfect to try molding and turning into art. One of the items was a little box of Valentine's Day candy hearts. I knew they could be turned into something fun with the help of Amazing Mold Putty!

Supplies:

While I love the look of the candy hearts, coating them with sealer or resin would still not last for long if used as jewelry. So the next best thing was to mold their shape and texture to cast in Amazing Casting Resin. I started by picking the best looking candies from the box.

I mixed up some Amazing Mold Putty and squished the putty around the candies. Making sure to not leave any gaps or air bubbles. With just a few of the candies I was able to make several molds with Amazing Mold Putty.

Once the molds were fully cured I poured Amazing Casting Resin. At first I poured the resin without any dye, creating the white candies. Then by adding very tiny drops of Alumilite Dyes in Red and Violet to Amazing Casting Resin I was able to create the look of the other candy colors.

Once the Amazing Casting Resin candy hearts were fully cured, I very carefully drilled a hole through the top of each heart, going all the way through, to make them into beads.

* I left a few resin hearts undrilled, these I will turn into earrings later.

Then using a sanding drill bit I sanded the back and odd edges to make all the sides of each bead appear matte, like the candy. Dust was easily rinsed off and the pieces dried.

Using the Glu6 Glue intended for non-porous surfaces I glued on sticker gems to the front of each heart. While not necessary I felt the sticker gems added a nice touch of sparkle to the beads.

Using the Glu6 Glue once again I attached earring posts to the backs of Amazing Casting Resin hearts without holes drilled into them. I let the glue dry overnight to ensure a good bond with the resin.

I threaded on a heart bead onto a jewelry eyepin. Carefully I snipped off the excess wire, and using round nose pliers I rolled the end of the wire into a loop. I repeated this with all of the drilled resin beads.

Threading 4 glass beads onto a eyepin again I carefully I snipped off the excess wire, and using round nose pliers I rolled the end of the wire into a loop. I repeated this with a second eyepin. These pieces became the ends of the bracelet.

I opened up a 5mm jumpring with the flat nose pliers and put the jumpring through two of the resin links. When I closed the jumpring with the pliers I created a two part link. I repeated this for the rest of the bead links and added a jewelry clasp at the end to finish off the bracelet.

With the glue dry and the bracelet finished –
I now have a festive Valentine's Day earring and bracelet set.

I found out these little resin hearts looked so nice I even made a fabric bracelet by gluing the resin hearts to a ribbon and once again attaching resin hearts to earring posts. With so many candies to mold, the possibilities of resin candy art or jewelry is endless!

are you inspired to create???
