Last Minute #Halloween Costumes... a Wendigo Creepy #Cre8time Transformation by Maria Soto

Hi there! It's Maria and today I want to share a fun project I made just last night. See my son decided to dress up for his Halloween party at school. He is currently attending the American Academy of Art in Chicago. When he heard they were having a costume contest, he completely changed the costume idea he had in mind and decided he wanted to go as a "Wendigo" from a video game he loves to play called "Until Dawn".

He asked his sister if she could do the make up and asked me if I could make the special teeth... of course I told him "no"... I needed more than two days to make it happen. So I sent him to the store to buy some teeth. He understood and he came home with these vampire teeth, and he asked me if there was a way I could make them look creepy. Of course I said "YES"!

http://chuy-creativity.blogspot.com/2015/10/resin-transformation-vampire-to-creepy.html#.VjKCeKKYVhY

I just sat there for a while trying to think on what I could do – I thought why not try and make a mold with Amazing Mold Putty, then use Amazing Casting Resin to make new teeth and use the resin to adhere them onto the vampire teeth he purchased.

I have to say, it was a bit of challenge for me. Once I got the idea in my head, I figured I had to give it a try and hope that it would work. Well... these products didn't fail me – they did exactly what I hoped they would do! I loved how these products never let me down... its like all I have to do is imagine what can I do next with them, and then go for it.

Dia de Muertos and the Many Faces of AMAZING Mold Rubber... by Tanya Ruffin

My hand-painted mask, resin embellished fan and necklace.

This Halloween season we attended a ball called the Ghostly Gala and the theme was Dia de Muertos. I thought...WAHOO!!! Today's post will show the multiple uses for the same resin piece using Amazing Crafting Products.

I used a dollar store skull mold to make a resin skull piece with Amazing Casting Resin.

Then I painted it and embellished it with some cast resin roses. Then after seeing the outcome I decided to cast a mold of that skull in Amazing Mold Rubber and I loved the results!!!

I have a plethora of molds in the works.
CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation of Amazing Mold Rubber.

The Sugar skull is on the left... the Amazing Mold Rubber
really shows the detail of the roses.

I added some Alumilite Black Dye in the Amazing Casting Resin. If you do not have black dye or your pieces don't match, you can paint the piece with black acrylic paint after. Using the mold above, I made some embellishments to add to my costume.

I, of course, had to use some Rub 'n Buff® to my pieces. You could also brush some Alumilite Metallic Powders into the mold before you pour the resin.

I purchased a plain black fan and added the sugar skull
resin piece to the edge and also a cast skeleton cameo.

I also found a spider web necklace at Dirt Cheap (for less than two bucks) and adorned it with another sugar skull resin piece.

Me and my niece at the Halloween Ball wearing my resin enhanced necklace.

What will you bedazzle with
handmade resin embellishments?

Sweet Baby Dolls... to Creepy Jewelry! An AMAZING Jewelry Tutorial by Maria Soto

Hi there, this is Maria and today I want to share something new for me... my daughter called them "creepy babies". A year ago, I went to a sidewalk sale at an antique store near my home in Indiana. I noticed a little plastic bag that had two tiny dolls – they were all taken apart and thought about getting it; but then I said what for, so I left. Well later on that day I realized I could have made molds out of the doll parts and make something creepy... something to used in my mixed media or jewelry.

This year I went to the sidewalk sale again, and started to look for the bag... and well, there it was on the shelf – one year later as if it was waiting for me! With Halloween almost here, I find myself in the mood for creepy crafting. Sadly I just ran out of Amazing Mold Putty – but I had enough left to make one last mold; and brought back a mold I made last Halloween to finish my project.

First I thought it would be fun to make a creepy baby face necklace – so I got my doll, and prepared some Amazing Mold Putty (CLICK HERE for mixing instructions) to create my mold. I also need a few other materials to create this fun set, including Alumilite Metallic Powders and Amazing Casting Resin to color and cast the resin pieces for this jewelry set.

Here you can see the face mold in process and that I had to use something to support the body of the doll to keep it level. You can also see the arm mold I made last year. The photo on right shows the completed molds all ready for the Alumilite Metallic Powders and the Amazing Casting Resin to create some fun, new resin pieces.

Since I only made one face mold, I used the Amazing Casting Resin – this product sets fast and it allows me to make several castings in a short amount of time. For the first castings I made, I brushed some Bronze and Copper Alumilite Metallic Powder directly into the molds. I also added the powders into the resin part "A" (CLICK HERE for mixing instructions) – this way the back of the mold would be colored as well. I applied the prepared Amazing Casting Resin to the molds using the stir stick, since the mold is small and I didn't want to overfill by pouring straight from the mixing cup.

Once I poured the resin into my Amazing Mold Putty molds, I cut small pieces of wire and placed into the resin right away. These wires will be used to make my pendent heads and the arm earrings; making sure they are long enough to hold one skull bead and be able to wire wrap to secure them to the necklace and the earring wires.

At first the Amazing Casting Resin is clear, then as it is curing it changes to an opaque white as you can see in the photo above. Once the resin starts to cure, it turns completely white in about 10 minutes. This all depends on the temperature/climate of where you are. Since we are in the 60's right now – it took 10 minutes to cure. Where it's hot and humid it takes less time, regardless of the size of the mold.

I ended up making six castings of the face and the arms, to make sure I had enough for my project. It's always best to have more than needed.

Once all my resin molds were set, note most of them had the metallic powders added to the resin, but despite the metallic colors I felt these needed something else, since I had some black Jacquard air brush color, I thought adding some with a brush and wiping it off right away, would add the finishing touch I was looking for, since they are meant to be used for Halloween, I felt they needed to look creepy and adding the black did the trick.

I did make a few molds with no color added to the resin. You can see the face on left I only added the black air brush color; in the center is the plain white Amazing Casting Resin face; and the face on the right was made using resin colored with Alumilite Metallic Powder and then some black was added – this is what I was looking for, it adds a bit of creepiness to the piece.

The doll arms I used to mold/cast the bronzed resin arms.

I had some yellow skull beads and thought they were perfect for this project – so I added the bead to the wire, then wire wrapped them as I added them to a chord necklace I had on hand. I felt that I needed to add something else. As I looked around, I found some round wooden beads {and of course, the necklace was already assembled – that's how I purchased it}, so I had to figure out how to string the beads between the resin faces. I strung them on a piece of black organza ribbon and then just tied them in between the resin faces, and my necklace was done.

The earrings were easy, I added one of the yellow skull beads on the wire, then wire wrapped and added an ear ring wire, and I'm done. I am wearing the earrings right now, and I totally forgot I had them on – they are as light as feathers. This set is going to be part of my Halloween costume.

Now here is my finished set, all ready for Halloween! I can't wait to use my new mold for other fun projects. I've come to notice that from all the holidays – I enjoy creating for Halloween the most. This is surprising to me, but it must be these Amazing Crafting Products, that let me imagine and get creative in ways I never thought I would.

I hope that I have inspired you to find some creative time and start crafting for the upcoming Holidays over the next couple of months.  Please make sure to share what you make on the user GALLERY on the Amazing Mold Putty Website!

A #Cre8time Fortune tells of a Haunting Necklace... by Maria Soto

Hi there - Maria here to share a project I made for my daughter! As my kids get ready to go to the Bristol Renaissance Fair up in Wisconsin in the next couple of weeks – my daughter came to me and asked me if I could make her a necklace for her outfit. They love getting all dressed up when they go this event. This year she's going as a fortune teller Gypsy and asked me to make her a necklace with a skull.

I decided to go ahead and make the skull out of resin and the necklace as rustic and old as possible. I used the Amazing Mold Putty to make the mold and the skull cast in Amazing Casting Resin. For more detailed instructions on how to use these two products, please CLICK HERE to visit the Amazing Crafting Products instructions page.

The Amazing Mold Putty is so easy to use, just make sure to take two equal amounts of Parts "A" and "B", mix well and then press over the object you are molding, wait about ten minutes and your mold is ready to use. CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation.

When using the Amazing Casting Resin, make sure to follow the instructions found in the box {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. Using equal amounts and adding part "A" to your mixing cup first is important. You have to remember that you have only a few minutes to work with; since this resin begins to set right away. So plan ahead to make the right amount and have extra molds on hand just in case you have leftover resin. Since this was going to be used as the focal piece on my necklace, I cut a piece of wire and inserted into the resin before it cured – this way there will be no need to drill a hole and glue the wire. I like to make things easy for me... but you can always drill afterwards.

The mold, the plastic skull and the new resin skull.

Once the resin piece was done, it was time to add some color. I used my red and black sharpies to add color – wiping off excess color for a distressed look. Now that the color is added, is time to create the necklace.

I got busy looking around for stuff I could use and I found an old piece of beads already strung together; an old wood button and chord that looks just like rope but is not itchy; and as I was walking into the house, I noticed a lot of tiny tree branches on the front yard {I figured I might be able to used them somehow}. I thought about molding them, but I had already done that before... so I just used the real branch pieces.

Putting together this necklace was very easy and fast. I was really surprised that I had no problems. All the materials just seemed to work together... I really like it this way. I thought it would be smart to get an approval from my daughter before moving forwards – she can be really easy to please, but sometimes she gives me a hard time. Since I have no idea what her outfit is going to be like, I figure it would be safe at this point to get an OK from her.

This is the necklace, all put together,
just waiting for the skull to be added.

On the base, a wood button is used to hold the tree branches held together with wire in a triangular shape. I used a little bit of the Alumilite Red Dye on the branches just to tint the broken ends.

Well since she loved the necklace, I decided to add a couple of charms, she loves owls and thought it would be nice to add this tiny one along with the feather. I thought about adding the pink flat back crystals as eyes to the skull, but last minute I decided it didn't go well together so I left them out.

She loves owls. I thought that making a couple of charms would be great – and to also use the black bead to connect the skull to the necklace would make it longer.

Owl and feather charms attached to the necklace.

Here is the finished necklace, she loved it and can't wait to get all dressed up for the Fair! Since she's also dressing this way for Halloween... she'll be using it again in October.

Here you can see the plastic skull used to make the mold and the new resin skull.
