Celebrating Mardi Gras at #Cre8time... Embellished Resin Shot Glasses by Tanya Ruffin

Embellished shot glass filled with Lemonhead Vodka {see recipe below}.

If you know anything about Mardi Gras, two things come to mind... Beads and drinking. Now I'm not advocating drinking, but if you want to get in the Mardi Gras mood this will definitely help you!

is actually food safe?

Sure is! That means I can put a layer of resin in the bottom of a glass and it still be safe to drink out of!

Start with some tall shot glasses. I found mine in a three pack at the Dollar store.

I took a few beads of green, purple and gold (you know, the colors of Mardi Gras) and placed in the bottom 1/3 of the glass. I wanted to leave enough space in the glass to actually have a shot! Mix a small amount of clear resin according to directions and let resin sit about 15 minutes for the bubbles rise to the top. Then slowly pour over my beads.

Let cure and you are ready to laissez les bon temps rouler!

That is "let the good time roll" for all you non–Louisianians!

Other ideas... charms, dried flowers, candied hearts, shells, etc...

For a variation on this technique, see my tutorial on making Souvenir Glasses.

Show Your COLORS! Make a Faux Stained Glass Sun Catcher by Tanya Ruffin

You can make a faux stain glass sun catcher,
using Amazing Clear Cast Resin as a faux gallery glass!

Supplies:

Print out of the computer an 8" x 10" design.

Take the glass out of the frame and place on top of print out.

Using puff paint, trace over your design. Make the lines thick because these will be a wall to hold the resin. The Amazing Clear Cast Resin is much thinner than gallery glass so your walls much be thick and tall or your resin will bleed over.

Allow your puff paint to dry. Mix up batches of colors of Amazing Clear Cast Resin with Alumilite Violet and Yellow Dyes, let rest to release bubbles for a few minutes and start to fill the inside of the design with resin. Do NOT fill to the top, when the Amazing Clear Cast Resin starts to cure it sometimes expands and will overflow.

You can see in the image above that I had a little spillage.
SO I ended up marbleizing the yellow area.

Finished off and ready to shine!

There ya go. Now go off and be creative!

I'd love to hear what you are inspired to create with Amazing Crafting Products!

Dogs and Wine, Is there Anything Better?
AMAZING Photo Resin Wine Glass by Tanya Ruffin

Hi, this is Tanya to share a wine glass project I made using Amazing Crafting Products, some color copies, and a wine glass from the dollar store.

When you have etched and painted so many wine glasses what else is there to do but to add some photos or original artwork?! Well I have had a successful experiment with laser copies and Amazing Clear Cast Resin using a copy of a Pop Art painting I created of my cairn terrier, Duncan.

Dogs and wine, is there anything better?

1. Make a color copy or a laser print out of an original piece of art or a photo.

2. Working on top of a non-stick surface; use glue to adhere your images to the glass. Be careful to not put the glue all over the wine glass, just under the images. You want clear (unglued) glass where images are not. Also leave about a 1/2 inch image and glue free zone around top of wine glass. We don't want lips touching the area to be resined.

3. Coat the top of the images with a coat of glue.

4. Allow glue to dry for an hour.

5. Using a craft knife clean up any glue.

5. Mix up Amazing Clear Cast Resin and using a disposable brush (I used a foam brush), paint the resin over the images. Make sure to avoid the top 1/2 inch of glass. Paint resin down the stem and the base of the glass. The resin will drip down the stem anyway- so you might as well coat it.

6. Place your glass on a raised surface (I used a small scoop). This way the resin will drip off and not pool under the glass. Allow to dry over night.

7. Clean up any drips from the resin using a craft knife and a emery board.

8. You are done!

Kind of makes your mind think up all kinds of possibilities!

How would you customize your wine glasses

If you are inspired and create something from this tutorial, please leave a comment below with a link here so I can check it out! Please visit my site. Thanks! ~ Tanya
