#Cre8time Valentine's for One... by Maria Soto

Hi there! This is Maria and today I want to share a special project. I got a new paint kit and had been waiting for a project I could create using my favorite resin and these new paints. I previously shared how I took a frame mold I made in Amazing Mold Rubber and used the back to either create sheets of resin or to use as a resin work area instead of non-stick mat. 

For this project I used Amazing Clear Cast Resin and the Mixed Media Discovery Set by Pébéo. I received these paints in a Charity Wings Live in 4D Ultimate Sample Box for winter CHA. 

Though I have the Alumilite Dyes and Metallic Powders – it is wonderful how versatile Amazing Clear Cast Resin is in accepting a wide variety of media for coloring... as long as it's not water-based. These paints are solvent-based, so I knew they would be OK to try with the resin.

First step was pouring into a plastic cup 1 oz. of each parts "A" & part "B" of Amazing Clear Cast Resin, making sure to mix well – then let the resin rest for a few minutes before adding into my mold slab {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. 

   

I added drops of paint onto the resin using a wood stick. I think I added a bit too much, it was fun to see how this paint reacts in the resin... but even more fun when you add other colors, into the mixture – so I added some gold too.

I loved how the paints were mixing together all on their own, but I decided to just mix them up using the wood stick. The results were very pretty, however, one thing I learned in this process is that until the resin is totally set, the paints continued to mix. I ended up with a very overpowering red, yet the gold came through very pretty.

I let the resin cure over night. I did get up very early the next day, to make sure the resin was not completely hardened, because I wanted to cut up some resin hearts to use in this Valentine project. Lucky me, it was still flexible, so I was able to cut the resin sheets using my Westcott scissors. 

Since the resin was still flexible and not fully cured, when I applied the resin sheets onto the glass, the resin served as glue. I pressed them into place and left it alone then went to work. When I got back home after work, the resin hearts were completely cured and glued onto the glass. I had cut a very thin resin strip that I wrapped on the stem of the glass – I thought it looked pretty so I left it alone.

I have to be honest it needed something else... so I figured why not do some etching on the glass. I cut up some hearts making sure these were big enough so that the resin heart would sit in the center and I would be able to etch around the resin hearts. 

   

I used masking tape to protect the rest of the glass from getting any of the etching cream, as I only wanted the etching to be done around the resin hearts.

I decided to use the little hearts on the bottom of the glass as you can see below, I added some etchall resist gel around the hearts and I added etching cream around the strip of resin on the stem... figured why not, so I did.

   

After the 15 minutes were up, I removed and rinsed off the etching cream under running water in my bathroom sink, then removed all the tape and the hearts. I was left with a pretty etched glass, but I didn't like the hearts on the bottom of the glass – they looked very distorted. I was also not happy with the resin strip on the stem... I didn't like how it felt when I held the stem so I removed it. Since it was never glued onto the glass, it was loosely wrapped which made it easy to remove.

I painted over the hearts at the bottom of the glass with the red Pebeo paint and I also added a few red dots over the etched hearts.

I decided to mix a little bit more Amazing Clear Cast Resin. I took a few drops of the resin and added this to the painted hearts on the bottom of the glass. I really liked the red hearts at the bottom, the addition of resin was enough to bring out the painted hearts. I love it!

This is my Valentine glass for one... I had my chocolate hearts, a few candies and a little bit of wine after I got home from taking my kids out for pizza on Valentine's day. A perfect way to end my day with my very own one-of-a-kind Valentine's glass.

A #Cre8time Toast to Love... #DIY Champagne Glasses by Bridget Cordero

Hello friends! With the season of love fast approaching, I decided to decorate a couple of champagne glasses that we could use on Valentine’s Day – using a few things from my papercrafting stash and Amazing Casting Products.

First I decided I wanted hearts and polka-dots on these glasses. After considering this for a while, I took masking tape and laid it on the sheet that is left over from printer labels and then punched out the hearts to create a stencil.

Figuring I need to layer the heart stencils to make a kind of wall so the resin stays inside of the heart. Once created, I placed them in various places on the glasses.

Then I mixed up some Amazing Casting Resin and Alumilite Red Dye, and waited a little bit until the resin started to thicken... then used the stir stick to put the resin into the heart stencils. CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation for Amazing Casting Resin.

After a few minutes while the resin was not fully cured, I removed the stencils. While the hearts were setting, I mixed up a little more Amazing Casting Resin with some Cotton Candy Alumidust to make polka dots on the glasses. Before applying with my stir stick, I waited for the resin to thicken a bit.

I cleaned up the glasses with a wet paper towel and now we have two cute champagne glasses to enjoy on Valentine’s Day.

Toasting a #Cre8time New Year... Easy DIY Wine Earrings by Brenda Burfeind

Good day friends! Brenda here with Creativity is a State of Mind and I'm going to show you how to create a festive pair of earrings just in time for the New Year!

As some of you know I work in a wine store and I get asked over and over if we have any jewelry with a Wine motif. My boss just isn't into stuff like that – so I decided I wanted a pair of earrings to wear for New Years Eve and I wanted them to have a wine motif. 

 

So off we go...

I started out by cutting a wine bottle and glass shape {welded with my Cricut} out of some cereal boxes! I love to upcycle. I cut the pieces 14 times because I wasn't sure how thick I wanted the glued together pieces to be.

Here are my Cricut cuts and I used 5 of them to get the desired thickness.

Then I mixed up a batch of the Amazing Mold Putty – you can view mixing preparations HERE. I sprayed some UMR Mold Release onto the mold putty before pressing the chipboard into it because I did not want the chipboard to stick to it.

The mold came out beautifully!

Next I brushed some Lt. Green Alumidust where the bottle would be and left an area open where I think the glasses would be. I then mixed up some Amazing Clear Cast Resin {and you can watch a video tutorial HERE} because I wanted the "glasses" to be see through.

So far so good... I then took a silver paint pen and highlighted around the bottle, put a stopper on the top and edged around the wine glass area.

I added some seed beads with E6000® and used

a red paint pen to add some color to the bottle.

Attached some jewelry findings with E6000® 

and I am ready for New Years Eve!

I absolutely love my new earrings created just in time for the holiday!

#Cre8time meets Vacation Memories... DIY Souvenir Wine Glass Candle by Tanya Ruffin

Save yourself a little money by making your own souvenirs! Take all those shells your kids have collected and make a lasting souvenir of your vacation.

Materials:

• Sand
• Shells
• Amazing Clear Cast Resin
• Alumilite Blue Resin Dye
• Wine glass
• smaller glass votive
• Decoart Glass Marker

Directions...

Pour sand in the wine glass. This is going to replicate the ocean. This is the sand on the bottom of the sea, so fill it about 1/6th up.

Drop some shells on top of the sand, stick close to the outside edge of the glass (you won't be able to see the shells in the middle very well, so don't waste them). Mix up some Amazing Clear Cast Resin (clear) and slowly pour in wine glass. Avoid the side of the glass, you don't want clear drips down your glass. The resin will slowly soak into all the sand. You may see air bubbles. Let cure. It took about 3 hours for my clear resin to cure enough to move to the next step.

Using the Alumilite Blue Dye, mix a small amount into part "A" of your Amazing Clear Cast Resin. You want just a small amount!!! I made the mistake of thinking it would cure more transparent the first time and it did not! Start light – you can always make it darker. Let this cure over night.

Add a layer of Amazing Clear Cast Resin on top of the blue layer. You can throw in a shell or two if you like. I dropped a little sand on the top after it had cured a little while. I decided to do this clear layer before I added more sand because on a test glass, the sand actually fell all the way through the blue in a few spots. The clear layer will seal the blue water layer and keep it separate from the sand.

What Will You SAVE now?

Now add some more sand and position your glass votive in the center. You can start arranging more shells. After you have the shells arranged you can add more Amazing Clear Cast Resin. I let the resin cure for a few hours then added more shells and more resin.

I love how it looks! You may see air bubbles coming up from the sand and need to add more Amazing Clear Cast Resin as it starts to soak into the sand. 

Measure the bottom of your glass so you can use a computer to layout text. 

I used CorelDRAW – but you can use any software that lets your curve text. Print it out and place glass under the print out and trace with a glass marker.

 Now light your candle and reflect on your vacation. 

With all the money you saved on souvenirs you have a jump start paying for the next trip! Think about how much grandma would love a gift like this made from shells her grand kids collected. This is much better than a "I went to the Caymans and all i got was this lousy t-shirt" shirt!!!
