Take a #Cre8time BITE... by Susan M. Brown {sbartist}

"Dip the apple in the brew,
let the Sleeping Death seep through..."

Hello everyone! Susan here to share my latest handmade creations... some very Witch-worthy jewels! This queen of mold putty would normally break out the magic yellow stuff but I wanted to make multiples so I decided on using Amazing Remelt and it certainly did the trick!

Amazing Remelt is a Non Toxic, one-part reusable mold making material for room temperature or low exotherm materials. Amazing Remelt softens at 120˚F and becomes liquid at 135˚-140˚F. It can be remelted and reused to make new molds time and time again. This is ideal for making molds for smaller items such as jewelry, embellishments, and chocolate molds. YES, this stuff is FOOD-SAFE and it works great with chocolate and fondant!!

I have loads of items in a "TO MOLD" box – a collection of found objects, junque and things that I have collected or purchased at thrift stores. One of these items is an old apple pin that is a nice size that would make a nice pendant for a necklace made in resin... and with Halloween just around the corner, how about a POISON apple??!

I need to do a little prep work to this piece before making a series of molds. The first thing being adding some tape to the backside so the molding material won't flow through the hole where the stem touches the apple.

I cris-crossed some recycled coffee stir sticks through the pin back so that I can suspend this over a small silicone bowl that I will be using as a mold box.

Now to prepare the Amazing Remelt molding material. This is easy-to-use but you need to be patient and heat to melt in the microwave LOW and SLOW {CLICK HERE to view preparation}. I have melted it in the container it comes in, but for molding small items, I prefer using this cup fashioned with Amazing Mold Putty {molded around the outside of a shot glass}. I like this cup because it can be baked up to 375º F and it helps keep the melted material from cooling too fast.

These photos are showing the mold-making process from the altered "poison" apple. The process is exactly the same for all the molds. I placed the mounted apple over the top of a small silicone bowl then poured the melted Amazing Remelt over the top, completely covering surface of item. I let this set for a minute to cool and begin to harden, then repeated with a second layer. This forms a skin layer and helps prevent air bubbles from getting trapped.

I fill the bowl and flipped the mounted pin over and placed face down into the liquid Amazing Remelt. After leveling it on the bowl, I poured in more remelt to fill up to edge of suspended apple pin. At this point it looks like a mess... but it works! I set this in the refrigerator for about a 1/2 hour to cool and harden.

Now I can pop this AMAZING little apple mold out of the bowl and demold.

Look at the mold... it's fantastic! Amazing Remelt gives you the detail quality of Amazing Mold Rubber – but it's reuseable!!

I can use these molds, then melt them down to mold something else. I don't have the molds cluttering up my shelves and I saved my Mold Rubber for another day. I am going to have to make a few more molds for FOOD ONLY and make some poison apple Halloween treats with chocolate melts.

With all of my molds made I am ready to fill with Amazing Clear Cast Resin. I am coloring the resin with Alumilite Fluorescent Green Dye and Alumilite Phosphorescent Powder {an additive that glows in the dark}. CLICK HERE to view mixing and preparation.

I mix up the resin and set aside to rest so it the resin can cool and the air bubbles can escape. The phosphorescent powder will make magic in the dark.

I spent the most time of making this project on mold preparation. I made 16 molds which took me a a couple hours one morning plus a whole entire day. The time consuming part is melting the Amazing Remelt slowly and then waiting for it to reharden to demold the original. I sort of felt like Willy Wonka with my assembly line of candy apples in progress LOL!

Before I pour resin, I gently cut a slice in each mold where I suspend a headpin with two glass beads which will be embedded in the resin. I will use this to form a loop at the top to affix beads and a jump ring for hanging on a chain. With a tiny brush, I added a bit of color to the leaf and stem using Alumidust.

I gently poured the resin with a stir stick, and filled each mold just so. Then I covered the tray and set aside to cure overnight. **A TIP** get two metal cookie sheets from the dollar store – use one to place the items on, use the other to turn over and place on top upside down to protect resin while curing. I clipped the edges with a few binder clips.

In the morning... my Halloween goodies have hatched and are ready to embellish!

I envisioned having them painted with purple drips to look like the poison apples. My first attempt was painting on my favorite purple nail polish in a real drippy fashion. This looked great while it was wet. I set it aside to dry and when I came back hours later was disappointed at how the nail polish flattened out, even though I had painted on several layers. It looked pretty, but screamed dollar store.

After much trial and error of a handful of different products, Ranger Perfect Pearls was the one that helped me get in the direction I desired. I painted this dimensional glaze and traced right over my failed nail polish drips. PROGRESS!!! When this completely dried I smoothed and evened out the surface by pressing on a layer polymer clay and baking to cure and harden the clay. I watched this very closely when baking because I was concerned about the dimensional glaze burning.

When cooled completely I prepped this new "poison" apple as I did with the original and made a new mold with Amazing Remelt {see mold-making photo above}.

Voila! My new mold colored with Alumidust and ready with a beaded headpin awaiting resin. I'm so excited to see the end result this time!

After a bit of fussing about with wirewrapping some beaded danglies and forming a hanger from the embedded headpin, I add my gorgeous poison jeweled apple to a ready made chain.

For the good little ghouls... a pretty glowing green goddess apple!

And for those a little bad and BATTY... the glorious poisoned variety!

I love how these turned out and I have made loads for a charm swap! I'm off making more "POISON" apples in different color combinations... and I'm having such evil Cre8time fun!!

What would you mold and transform
into handmade jeweled treasures?

#Cre8time Traditions... AMAZING Handmade Pins by Lyn Gill

Hi everyone it's Lyn Gill here again. This time to share my Christmas pins for this year. As I did with a similar project last year with my Santa hats – I am continuing a tradition my Grandfather started many years ago... Christmas Pins! Now my Grandfather was a wood carver and made beautiful pins, so I thought I would continue the tradition with my own hand-sculpted trees.

First I started with an original sculpt of a Christmas Tree made of Super Sculpey Polymer Clay. Then I created a mold with Amazing Mold Putty. It is just a simple sculpt but that's part of the tradition.

Then I add various glitters, Alumidust and Alumilite Dyes to small batches of Amazing Clear Cast Resin and pour into the mold. I finish off the resin trees with a touch of glitter glue to add ornaments for the final results... fancy festive tree pins!

I always enjoy creating these little gifts for family and friends at this joyous time of year. I hope you'll give it a try and create a new tradition by making your own little handmade gifts.

Thank you so much for joining me today in sharing one of my families traditions. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas...  Till Next Time! Lyn

What new family traditions will you
add to the holidays this year?

#Cre8time in the #Polymer Pumkin Patch... by Lyn Gill

Hi everyone! Lyn Gill here again, are you ready for a Scavenger Hunt? Today I'll share with you my inspirational project for the month and a revisit a project from last fall.

I created this pumpkin from polymer clay, but I decided I needed more of them... so out came the Amazing Mold Putty to the rescue! I molded the base pumpkin then I used the Amazing Casting Resin tinted with some of the Alumilite dyes for the perfect orange color. This really turned out well. I added some acrylic paint to antique it just a bit, then I added the leaf and stem detail out of clay. Finished off with a glue-on bail and it's ready to go! A beautiful pendant for the season.

Now for a twist! This time using the same mold I used Amazing Clear Cast Resin with some Alumilite Dyes and glitter I created this fun Pumpkin Brooch... with a totally different look and ready to wear to a party!

What new ideas will you find
for molds you already created?

Thanks so much for stopping by today...Till Next Time! Lyn

Myléne Hillam... an AMAZING Featured Artist Spotlight

Greetings AMAZING Crafters! Today we have a fun questionnaire that we posed to our Featured Artist Myléne Hillam of Mill Lane Studio! Have fun getting to know her a little better and enjoy the eye candy, too! :) Sb

A little bit about Myléne...

• • • • • • • • • • • •

As a designer, I have the kind of job that many crafter's dream of: I get to create and play with new craft products. With a job that allows me to craft all day, it’s no wonder that I love what I do.

Like most crafters, I’ve dabbled in many crafts over the years but in recent times, it’s jewelry-making and working with resin that make my heart sing. Of all the crafts I’ve tried, none has captivated me quite like resin has. There is something about mixing the two liquid components together to produce a solid resin that just spellbinds me.

Ever since I can remember, the night sky has held a fascination for me: I love watching the moon as it rises and travels across the sky; I love looking for shooting stars in the heavens; and I remember gazing skywards when Halley's Comet passed by the earth. I'm totally spellbound by astronomical events so I created these Galaxy bangles to celebrate the wonders of the universe.

Some fun questions for the inquiring minds...

• • • • •

What did you want to be when you grew up?
"At school, I enjoyed all the hands-on arts subjects and creative writing. But I didn't set out to be an artist or a writer. In fact, I've worked in an office environment all my working life, but all the while, my love of creating stayed with me and I crafted whenever I had the time. And now I find myself living the creative life as both an artist/designer AND an author. My Art and English teachers would be proud! I guess it shows that no matter where your career path takes you along the way, you can always find your way back to the things you are passionate about and the things you are good at."

Coke or Pepsi???

"Neither. I like to get my caffeine fix from chocolate and tea!"

What inspires you?
"Dreams! My subconscious often conjures up weird and wonderful things and sometimes, the best creative ideas. I mean, how many good ideas come just as you are drifting off to sleep?!! But sometimes it's the materials that I'm working with that provide the inspiration – things will just fall in a particular way on the work bench and an idea is born."

What is the TOP thing to do on your "Bucket LIST"?

Image of a sunrise captured from the International Space Station
by NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman - Oct. 29, 2014.
"My bucket list has just one thing on it… but it's a biggy and it's one I never expect to do. I want to see our beautiful planet with its glowing blue halo from outer space. It always takes my breath away when I see an image of the earth taken from space. It makes me marvel at the size of the universe and how diminutive we are in the scheme of things - it really puts things in perspective!"

If you could print any phrase
on a T-shirt, what would it say?

It's pronounced Millaine!

"Of course that would mean nothing to the average person in the street, but it would be great if people knew how to pronounce my name."

If you could mold ANYTHING with
Amazing Mold Putty, what would it be?

"Kate Middleton's engagement ring. Can you imagine
the fun we could have recreating it in resin?!!"

What style of music gets your creative juices going?
"I like to create in the peace and quiet where I can be alone with my thoughts. That's when my mind wanders and I'm at one with what I'm creating. But when deadlines are tight and the pressure is really on, I listen to my library of tracks featuring the sounds of the rainforest. Hearing the birds sing and the frogs croak whilst a gurgling stream bubbles – now that's music to my ears!"

Ring in the New Year with #Cre8time Recycling... by Maria Soto

Hi there! I decided to make a new bracelet to wear for the New Year's party. I had these empty duck tape rolls and decided to use one to make a quick and easy resin bangle.

Now sometimes when I paint, I keep napkins handy to clean the brushes or spills. I'm very clumsy so it happens a lot. As I was working, I noticed all the pretty colors so I decided to use these decoupage a bangle... but instead of using glue, I used the Amazing Clear Cast Resin to add the napkins I used to clean up my paints.

It was so easy, I cut the empty roll in half. I gathered my supplies and went on to mix a small amount of Amazing Clear Cast Resin

Amazing Clear Cast Resin has easy to follow instructions on the box or CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation. I mixed a small amount of resin and applied it to the outside of the empty roll a little bit at a time using the mixing stick, then applied sections of painted paper towels.

Once I was done covering the outside with the colored paper towel, I added a bit more Amazing Clear Cast Resin over all the tissue and let it dry overnight. I used a mold to hold the resin covered bangle and to make sure it would catch any excess resin.

It's all done and ready to wear! Now you can either do the same process to the inside of the bangle –or just paint it and then seal it with more resin.

I'm so ready to wear this for our New Year's party. Amazing Clear Cast Resin is one of my favorite crafting products... it can be used in so many different ways – not only to be used in mold making.

How do you use resin?
Any fun and creative ways?
Please do share with us by leaving a comment below.

Looking forwards to creating outside the box
in the coming year... Happy New Year to all!

Sneaking a little Holiday #Cre8time... AMAZING #jewelry Inspiration by Melissa Johnson

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday :) Today I am sharing a necklace I made over the Christmas break using goodies in my stash and some Amazing Clear Cast Resin.

I wanted to do something creative, but with all of my kids at home for Christmas break it's hard to get much accomplished. This necklace was very easy to make and I was able to use up some things I had in my stash. Always a bonus in my book!

I used some vintage style buttons and broke the backing off of them so they would lay flat. After some digging I found a bezel I had never used and another resin charm I had made a while back. I hot glued the buttons in the bezel, filled in the space with a few stones, and poured Amazing Clear Cast Resin over the entire piece. I also swirled in a bit of the Gold Alumidust.

Here is the final piece, all completed and put together.

What did you make in your
Cre8time over the holiday break? :)

Make something that makes you happy :) ~ Melissa Johnson
