#Cre8time Bathroom Renovations... DIY Faucet Decor by Brenda Burfeind

Good day friends and welcome to amother Amazing Mold Rubber Monday. I'm pretty excited to share this project I made with this AMAZING product so let's get started!

My faucet in the bathroom has this plastic insert. I really wasn't sure what it was for or why it's like this, but it sometimes pops out. It even went missing once for awhile. (I'm thinking the grandbabies played with it). Anyway, it's kinda annoying so I wanted to glue it down. When I suggested that to hubby he stopped me immediately...  "It's the cap to HIDE the screw in case you wanted to take your faucet off". Ha, who knew? Well, instead of taking it off, I decided to "decorate" it.

So I started with popping it out and hot gluing
it into the bottom of a condiment container.

See the hot glue? Works marvelous.

Amazing Mold Rubber takes a bit longer to set up -vs- Amazing Mold Putty, but for this project it was the better of the choice – as I wanted to capture the shape and detail perfectly.

I mixed up the 2 part Amazing Mold Rubber mixture and poured my mold. You can go HERE and check out a YouTube video showing exactly how to prepare your mixture. My mold set up in about 8 hours. Depending on the temperature and humidity, the curing time can be anywhere from an hour to 24 hours. I usually let my mold set up overnight to make sure it cured completely.

I then used my Amazing Casting Resin mixed with some Alumilite Blue Dye to create my base. You can check out a YouTube video HERE with mixing instructions.

Here you can see the blue duplicate piece -vs- the original piece. You can get a nice clean mold using Amazing Mold Rubber... especially for those ridges to hold the cap into place on the faucet.

My bathroom is blue and has a ocean theme to it, so what better way to embellish this piece? Shells of course. I glued them to the cap with my favorite glue, E6000®. Now to pop the new cap in place.

I love how this turned out!

I'm thinking I will make a few different caps for the seasons also. I do decorate my bathroom for some seasons {ie: christmas, halloween, etc.} and it would be fun to change it to match. I hope you will follow me over at Creativity is a State of Mind and keep a lookout for my next seasonal Faucet Cap!

Did you like my tutorial?
Is this something you would do?

Thanks for stopping by and hope you will leave me a comment telling me what you would embellish your faucet cap with if at all. Until next time ~ Brenda

Handmade Chocolate Molds Top Off a Tasty Cake... AMAZING Inspiration by Featured Artist Niki Meiners

Hello everyone! Niki here today sharing a fun way to use Amazing Mold Putty. One of the little known uses for Amazing Mold Putty is a mold for food. It is completely food grade and can even be baked in. I like to bake and decorate cakes. Handmade molds are great for chocolate and to use for fondant too.

This handmade chocolate mold was made from a small hand carved stamp from India that I purchased. I have crafty plans for the stamp and wanted to be able to use it in baking too. That is when I decided to make a mold of it with Amazing Mold Putty and use it for chocolates.

The cake it is featured on is a chocolate peanut butter layer cake. I cheat and use a chocolate cake mix from the box and amend the recipe by adding chocolate pudding and a little extra chocolate. I would normally make the topper out of dark chocolate and not white chocolate.

The dark chocolate did not show up well for photographs and I really wanted to show you the detail possible in a mold. I hope you try the recipe. If you are a chocolate lover then this is the cake for you!

Chocolate Fudge Cake

2 pkg. (4 oz. each) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, divided
1 pkg. (2-layer size) chocolate cake mix
1 pkg. (3.9 oz.) JELL-O Chocolate Instant Pudding
4 eggs
1 cup Sour Cream
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup water

Peanut Butter Frosting
Makes about 5 cups

10 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
1 stick (4 ounces) unsalted butter, softened
5 cups confectioners’ sugar
2/3 cup smooth peanut butter

1. With an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese and butter until light and fluffy. Gradually add the confectioners’ sugar 1 cup at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition. Continue to beat on medium speed until light and fluffy, 3 to 4 minutes.

2. Add the peanut butter and beat until thoroughly blended.

Drizzle chocolaté or peanut butter ice-cream topping over the cake. Sprinkle on some nuts and viola.

What sweet treats would you create

Fondant and Gumpaste Tips with Amazing Mold Putty Molds... AMAZING Inspiration from Michelle Galpern

Good afternoon! Michelle here with a few tips and tricks to working with Amazing Mold Putty to get the best results within the edible medium of Fondant and Gumpaste.

Fondant and gumpaste usually release from Amazing Mold Putty without any powder or shortening. On very hot and humid days you may need to lightly dust with cornstarch or grease with shortening. The humidity makes the fondant and gumpaste sticky so a little releasing agent is helpful. On non-humid days they usually release without any problem and without a releasing agent.

The best way to take your fondant or gumpaste out of the mold is to roll it out. Turn your mold over and flex it so it rolls right out. This way you do not distort your design. Sometimes you do need to take a small toothpick or pallet knife to start the process by picking at one side especially with a lace mold. It should release quickly at that point.

If it still won’t release from your mold, try popping it in the freezer for 5 minutes and unmold right away before it has a chance to warm up. This is especially helpful for small and intricate details.

Try edible paints, markers, petal, and luster dusts to bring out all the highlights and details of your fondant and gumpaste molded pieces. Create beautiful edible metallic colors that really stand out by mixing silver or gold luster dust with vodka or clear vanilla extract and paint on.

What objects would you mold to create
embellishments in gumpaste???

From Molten Sugar to Full Bloom – Molding a Gumpaste Water Lily with Michelle Galpern

Happy Friday – Michelle here with my first official post! I am so honored and excited to be a part of the new Amazing Crafting Products Creative Team. I have so many ideas and I can’t wait to get started. For today's project, I am sharing how to make this beautiful Gumpaste Water Lily.

My daughter, Sidney, started a cake decorating business and she asked me to help her with a few designs. I was thrilled to take my jewelry mold making ideas and apply them to the cake decorating world. Today I am excited to give you a peek into the world of Simi Cakes and Confections.

Amazing Mold Putty is a food grade silicone, which means I can use it to make chocolate, fondant, sugar, butter, ice, gelatin, gummy or any food in the mold. My daughter designed a beautiful water lily as a cake topper and asked if we could mold it to make one when we needed one. The mold creates petals, stamens, and support structures all made out of the sugar of your choice.

Using Amazing Mold Putty, I have created a two-part mold for the sphere, and a mold with two petals, a disc and two stamens.

Here’s how to make the water lily in gumpaste:

1. Press gumpaste into the petal forms on the Water Lily mold. You will need 15 petals-3 rows of 5, 20 stamens, 1 sphere and 1 disc.

2. To curve the petals remove them from the mold and place them in a curved apple crate.

3. Wrap the stamens and bend around the sphere center facing upwards. Cover the center sphere completely in stamens (approx 20).

4. To assemble the first row of petals glue the petals using royal icing. Place the petal under the support disc and hold to secure. It will only take a few seconds to dry. Repeat with 4 more petals.

5. For the second row cut 3/4" off of the bottom of 5 more petals (otherwise they will be to long).

6. Attach the second row just like the first, but at intervals in between the first row's petals. This row will attach to the side of the disc.

7. Attach the center of the water lily to the middle of the disc before attaching the third row.

8. Repeat the process of cutting and attaching 5 petals for the third row. Attach the third row to the top of the disk. Paint with an airbrush or petal/ luster dusts.

Here is a video of how to make this amazing water lily
in sugar, isomalt, gumpaste or fondant:

Spring Wedding Trinket Box

Our family is so excited in the planning of our middle daughter's wedding this April. There will many goodies to distribute, so I made this little trinket box for "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue."

I pulled out my faithful jars of Amazing Mold Putty A and B.
Be sure to grab equal parts of each so that the mix is correct.
Knead the 2 parts together til uniform in color.

As you can see I made 2 perfect replicas of an egg half and antique button.
I added tan paint to the egg and ivory to the button.
I also applied 3D Crystal lacquer to give the button some shine.

This is the bottom half of the box. I lightly stenciled a hexagonal
motif in warm brown ink to add interest to the box.

Although small, I think it is just the right size for presenting a tiny treasure.
The eggs are in keeping will the wedding theme birds, eggs and nests.

Amazing Mold Putty is always a constant in my craft corner. Have a Happy Easter!!!!!!!!!!!

Resin Sun Catchers

Here is a pretty craft you can make to personalize a gift or fill your windows with color!

To make Resin Sun Catchers like these, you will need the following:
Amazing  Mold Putty
Amazing Clear Cast Resin
Decorative tissue paper napkins
Precision scissors
A pencil
Clean and dry prism crystal (real or plastic)
Wax paper, mixing cup for resin, mixing stick, tooth pick, foam brush, wire, clear thread and a paper piercer.

First begin by mixing your putty according to package directions, equal amounts of white and yellow until one solid color of yellow. Press your prism face down into the putty and let set 15 minutes. Pop prism out. Make a few more of the same. Mix equal amounts of the clear cast resin into the measuring cups provided. Stir well, scraping the sides and bottom as you work. Pour carefully into your molds. Don't worry if you cover up the part where the prism hole is. We will fix that later.

Select your tissue paper napkin of choice. I collect mine from discount shops and store them in a decorative box. Separate the top tissue layer from the plain tissues. Place your prism onto your desired pattern and trace with a pencil. Then cut out the traced design inside the pencil lines. Place design face down into the resin filled mold. No need to press down, it will absorb right away. Fill in any gaps with little bits of decorative tissue. Use the toothpick to put things in their place.

When you have covered all your areas with tissue, make up a small batch of the clear cast resin. Pour this on top of each prism, covering the tissue just so. use your toothpick to corral any stray pieces. Leave to set in a dry, low traffic spot in your house.

These will take about 24 hours to fully cure, but half way through, you should be able to work them out of the mold. Use the paper piercer as shown to open up the holes.  If I were to place the piece on my work surface, the not fully cured resin would stick. Once I get the piercer through the hole, I can pick it up and wiggle the piercer to enlarge the hole. Do this to each one. Then place back into the mold as found to continue curing.

Now when you removed your pieces from the mold, you may have noticed that they were cloudy. This is normal. Here is what you can do to achieve the same glass like finish all around, place your pieces flat side down onto some duck tape. Really smooth the tape onto the piece so there is no air pockets.

Make up a very small batch of clear cast resin and proceed to paint your pieces with the foam brush and resin. You only need one coat for the top and sides.

Here you can see instant results!

Let your pieces set until the top coat is no longer sticky to touch.

Now slowly peel off the tape. Trim off any rough edges with your scissors.

Work at the hole again with your paper piercer if needed.

Add some wire through the holes to make a loop, add the thread, hang and enjoy!

I hope you have enjoyed my idea and are inspired to try some of your own!

This Wedding is Going to be a Ball

Vintage Blue Glass Ball JAR that is...

Hello again! It's Rachel Whetzel here... My little sister is getting married in a week!! Her wedding is an outdoor wedding, and she is using inspiration from images like THIS and THIS... The only problem with hanging candles in a tree for us, is that it's fire season, and a safety hazard. So as much as my sister liked the idea, it was looking like the candle jars in the trees might not be a reality. Then my idea hit me. I was going to make "glass" disks that LOOKED like they were Vintage Blue Glass Ball Jars with my Amazing Mold Putty and Amazing Clear Cast Resin

I started out with my Vintage Blue Glass Ball Jar. This one in particular had really raised writing, which made it perfect for creating the mold.

First, I used two equal parts Amazing Mold Putty and mixed them together until they were uniform in color. Then I rolled out the piece over the writing on my Ball Jar. I actually used the jar itself on the flat side first, to shape the piece and then once in one final roll over the writing for my mold impression.

Before the mold set, I used a round glass to trim the piece into a nice circle. Once the circle was firm, I added a rim to the edge of my circle so I could pour into the mold once I was ready.

Because Amazing Clear Cast Resin takes about 24 hours to cure, I decided to make more molds. I also decided that I wanted some smaller circles, so I used my smaller vintage Ball Jar and created smaller rounds using the same technique above.

I wanted to add a tint to the clear cast, to imitate the blue coloring of my vintage jars, so I used just a drop of Alcohol Inks in my Amazing Clear Cast Resin.

Using equal parts of "A" and "B" of Amazing Clear Cast Resin, and then a drop of ink for dye, I mixed well, and poured into my molds.

Once my 24 hours were up, I popped the resin out of the mold, and I had round pieces of what look to be Vintage Blue Glass Ball Jars!!

I drilled holes in the tops of them, and added a few beads with fishing line... I'm hoping my sister will like them to hang in place of the candle jars in a tree or two. It's certainly a nice alternative to fire in the trees. My other thought is that the disks would look neat scattered on a table in the center piece. Especially on a buffet table.

Here's what they look like in the trees...

Be sure to share any projects you make using ideas
