Let Your #Cre8time Take Flight! Wire and Resin Dragonfly Pendant by Tanya Ruffin

I wanted to make something completely handmade without any store bought bezels or molds. Using some leftover resin paper from a previous project and some 18 copper gauge aluminum craft wire I created a dainty dragonfly. The directions to make the resin paper can be found here.

I started by bending the wire in the shape or dragonfly wings. I make sure the wire lies flat against the resin paper. Any gaps would cause the Amazing Clear Cast Resin to leak out. There is going to be some leaking, but you want to keep it to a minimum.

Because I still wanted to make the dragonfly body with the same wire, I bent the remaining wire up so it would held steady the wings when I added the Amazing Clear Cast Resin.

Stand the wire wings on the resin paper and mix the Amazing Clear Cast Resin. I applied the resin to the wire and inside area. I didn't necessarily need to cover the whole inside area because the paper was already coated with resin. Wait for the resin to cure, then using scissors and a craft knife trim the excess paper away.

I planned to add rhinestones for the eyes, but I ended up liking this look!

Snip the ends to make a hoop on the back.

Then I made a long loop of wire between the two sets of wings and then twisted it on itself, this made the tail. I repeated the step to make the body but I also wrapped wire around the section to make it fatter. I added two loops to make the eyes and formed a hoop on the back for a necklace.

"Deep in the sun-searched growths the dragon-fly hangs like a blue thread loosened from the sky: So this winged hour is dropt to us from above. Oh! clasp we to our hearts, for deathless dower, This close-companioned inarticulate hour when twofold silence was the song of love."   ~ Dante Gabriel Rossetti

I think it turned out so delicate!
Now I am thinking of a butterfly!!

Celebrating Dia de los Muertos at #Cre8time! Festive Wreath Tutorial by Aimée Wheaton

Well it's that time of year again, time for spooky things, orange, purple, black and of course sugar skulls! This project came together browsing Michael's for inspiration. I found these card stock Sugar Skull die cuts and wondering if I could mold it, that kind of sparked the rest of the wreath! I've never made a wreath so this is new to me but it was very fun and easy to make!

If you can't find a wreath you want to hang, make one!!! The possibilities are endless and you can do so much with Amazing Crafting Products!!

First I must introduce my helpers, my daughter Lorelei and my crazy tuxie Zooey. We pulled out the fabric to cut and she immediately thought she'd get on all of them and have a nice little nap. It was cute! Loved having Lorelei help me, she cut most of the fabric and tied a lot onto the wreath frame.

Now onto the project!! So we start with the fabric and cut strips of all 4 types of fabric, long enough to go around the wreath and tie in a knot.

We started with a pattern and then filled in the white spots with whatever we had left. There is really no rhyme or reason to it, whatever you like best! I'm sure I could have added a lot more to it to make it fluffy but knew I was going to add embellishments as well. While Lorelei was tying the fabric on I was making the molds with Amazing Mold Putty {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}.

I really wasn't sure how well this card stock would mold and thought I would test it out. I tried to make it on the thinner side so it wouldn't be too heavy for the wreath.

I also thought I wanted to add the word "BOO" but then changed my mind on that because it's usually not associated with sugar skulls but rather with ghosts. I may use them for another project.

Pretty impressive for paper!! The mold turned out great!

This is the stage the wreath is at right now. We've weaved in these sparkly floral embellishments into the fabric and I secured them down with a hot glue gun.

Right now I only have the metallic powders from Alumilite, so I thought I'd try my mineral makeup to color the mold. These are eyeshadows! I painted them into the mold like I would do the powders and then poured the Amazing Casting Resin on the top of it. It worked like a charm!

The painted mold, very pretty!

I sprinkled in silver glitter in the letter molds. Then I mixed up a batch of Amazing Casting Resin and poured into the molds {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. Next time I would paint the letter molds with a powder first, the resin made bald spots in the glitter as you can see in this photo.

Let them cure and then demold.

I love the subtle colors of the skull!! I then took a fine point black Sharpie and highlighted the different areas with it.

You know how I pretty much have wire in every project, well this one is no different! I used purple, orange and black glass beads and strong onto the thin wire for some extra bling.

Next I weaved them into the fabric and wreath
and bent it a bit for some movement.

I decided the project needed some more embellishments and decided to throw in some vintage buttons with a hot glue gun. I then glued down the sugar skull, the glitter embellishments and the rest of the buttons around the wreath.

Beads and button.

Bottom of the wreath.

Blingy side!

Here it is! What do you think? I love the mix of colors in this piece. This was a fun project to make and you can get your kids to help! I will probably make a Christmas wreath as well. I think I'm going to let Lorelei take it to school to decorate her classroom, her teacher wanted some decorations. This is a smaller wreath but could easily be duplicated into a bigger design. I wanted to have more with the Amazing Casting Resin on this piece, but I think the Sugar Skull sets it off nicely. I should probably make a Boo wreath as I have the letters molded as well. Hope you enjoyed this project :)

Oh! An Amazing Light Bulb Moment!!! AMAZING Inspiration from Maria Soto

Hi there, as much as I love to craft with all the amazing products in the market, I love to recycle as much as I can. So the other day we had to replace the light bulbs in my dinning room light fixture, it requires 3 small light bulbs, so my son gave me the used light bulbs and said, "here I know you'll find some use for these". Well they sat in a small glass bowl on my desk at home for a while and I kept looking at them wondering what to do. Suddenly it hit me, use them as decorations for the holidays that are coming up, like Halloween, maybe Christmas.

So here is what I started with, my little light bulbs.

Now here are my new ornaments, I'm thinking I might add some ribbons to the wire when the time comes to use them. for now these are held together with some silver wire and beads, all ready to hang!!!.

Can't wait to get some more bulbs between now and the holidays, just think of all the possibilities you have to decorate these light bulbs, so next time you have to replace some at your home, don't discard them, keep them and find a way to recycle them, go try some Amazing Crafting Products and give them a new purpose.

For all three light bulbs I used the Amazing Casting Resin and Alumilite Dyes in Red, Brown, Violet and Black.

You need to make sure to pour equal amounts of part "A" and part "B" of the Amazing Casting Resin;  otherwise your resin will not cure and you will have a failed project. When using these amazing Alumilite Dyes, you don't need to use a lot, a little goes a long way, I added a little bit of black dye to the violet.

Now for the red light bulb, I brushed the colored resin on the entire bulb making sure to cover it completely, for the violet bulbs I decided to just poured it over the light bulb making sure to leave some areas free of the resin to give it a different look, I wanted all three to look different.

I had worked on something else after I finished these light bulbs and had used the clear resin with the brown dye, since I had a little left over I decided to pour it over the red light bulb to see if it would give it a bit of dimension to the color, and it sure did.

Please be careful when you handle any light bulb, they are fragile and you don't want to hold too tight, for they might brake, also this is not a project I would recommend for a child, please be careful when you work with glass items, be safe.

Now, I don't like to waste so I had some left over resin and I poured a bit into a heart mold I had on hand and made it into a ring, below you can see the mold I used ( previously made by using Amazing Mold Putty and a Swarovsky crystal heart ), also the side and top view of the finished ring.

I find it amazing when ideas come to you as you work on a project, creativity is always there, so go on and create something amazing.

I hope to have inspired you to do
some AMAZING green crafting!!!

A Paintbrush is not just for Painting Anymore!!!
AMAZING Inspiration by Maria Soto

Hi there, my name is Maria - and I'm so excited to one of the Guest Designers on the Amazing Crafting Products Creative Team! I have watched all the beautiful and amazing projects created by everyone that I was very intimidated to create my own molds and to work with Amazing Crafting Products. Well now that I've started making molds, I can't stop!

I want to share a project I created, an altered paint brush. It is my very first altered project and decided to use the Amazing Casting Resin on the brush itself, and created a couple of flowers by using the Amazing Clear Cast Resin and made the flower molds by using the Amazing Mold Putty.

This project allowed me to use the Amazing Casting Resin in a different way so after mixing it - I just pored it over the paint handle in front and back and on the bristles in the front, waited for it to set, and the next day I used some of my Viva Decor Inka Gold in red and their 3D stamp paint in two colors. Here are some photos of the before and after.

This is the original paint brush - the Amazing Casting Resin
was added on the handle front and back.

This is the back of the handle, after the cast resin set, I painted over the entire handle by using my fingers to add Viva Decor Inka Gold in Red - I loved the way the resin looks after the paint was added.

Now this is the front of the handle - the Amazing Casting Resin
gave the handle the look of wood, which I love.

This is the front of the brush - here you can see the Amazing Casting Resin, I did not want to cover it all up, so I left some white exposed to add more color, here you can see the two blue flowers I made using the Amazing Mold Putty to make the molds and then used the Amazing Clear Cast Resin to make them.

Here is the entire altered paint brush - it's so beautiful! I love how a simple, ordinary paint brush was used to create a decorative item to show off or to give as a gift.

What ordinary household item would you love
to alter into something new and unexpected?

Blooms can Dangle, too... AMAZING Inspiration by Marilyn Weyman Kegg

Last summer, I attended an art retreat and took a class with Deryn Mentock, making Bloom Bangles to be added to a bracelet made in another class of hers. Each dangle we made was one loop or square of wire, hammered flat, then backed with a pretty paper, and coated with resin.

I kept thinking, "What if the dangles really looked like blooms?"

When I came home, I started experimenting with shapes in wire. I used my painted dictionary papers to back the shapes I made and Amazing Clear Cast Resin from Alumilite Corporation to coat the papers. The resin makes the entire structure of the dangle stiffer, waterproof, and shiny. It is so easy to do!

Make your shape out of one piece of wire, ending with the loop on the top from which it will be hung on earrings as shown here, or on a bracelet, chain, or cord. Hammer the shape flat, being careful not to flatten your loop and wrap which would weaken the metal. Use a clear glue on the back of the flattened shape to attach the paper, then quickly paint the back with some Amazing Clear Cast Resin with a small disposable brush. **A TIP** Don't use a brush you like because you cannot clean the resin out of it. I use cheap brushes I buy at the craft store in the model-making department. Lay the shape on a teflon crafting sheet on a tray, then generously add Amazing Clear Cast Resin inside the wire shape until it is nearly overflowing. Set it aside and allow it to dry for 24 hours.

Once dry, any drips or overflow may be trimmed off with a pair of scissors or even a small file.

What shape would you make?
