#Cre8time Celebrations... DIY Patriotic Planter by Brenda Burfeind

Happy 4th of July! Brenda from Creativity is a State of Mind to share what has become my annual 4th of July project. It's not just Independence Day, it's my husband's birthday also – and every year on the 4th, we have a big party and celebrate with lots of games, good food and of course fireworks.

I try to decorate as much as possible, but this year time got a little away from me... but I did manage to make some planters representing my love for the red, white and blue. Last year I created an amazing Patriotic wind chime using Amazing Clear Cast Resin – you can see it by CLICKING HERE

Using the same method as last year's resin paper stars, I created these stars. When cured, I layered one of each color on top of a coordinating piece of ribbon to embellish some simple silver vases.

How do you show your Cre8time colors?

Wishing everyone a happy and safe 4th of July. I hope you enjoy your 4th and thank you for stopping by. I hope you've enjoyed my project for today! I invite you to stop over to my blog, Creativity is a State of Mind to see all that I've been making.

Until next time, Happy Crafting! ~ Brenda

If You Give an Artist Some Sunshine...
AMAZING Inspiration with Rachel Whetzel

Hello, Creatives!! Rachel Whetzel, here, with a little vintage patriotic fun! I'm sure I'm not the only artist whose inspiration sometimes comes in an A.D.D. kind of mind stream. The kind that resembles the book If You Give a Moose a Muffin. For me it goes like this: The sun starts to come out, the fire pits gets it's first fire of the season, and I start thinking about Summer. Thinking about Summer makes me start to think about BBQ's. Thinking about BBQ's gets me thinking about my garden. Thinking about my garden gets me thinking about fresh fruit. Thinking about fresh fruit makes me start planning which one's I'll pick, like blueberries and strawberries. I like to dip them in whipped cream. Thinking about eating strawberries and blueberries dipped in whipped cream gets me all red white and blue, which reminds me of the 4th of July. Thinking about the 4th of July reminds me of BBQ's, and I decide I might make invitations to a BBQ on the 4th this year... and so I begin.

I have a vintage pin that says U.S. on it,
and that's where I jumped off for this project.

After molding the pin, I used Amazing Casting Resin with Bronze and Gold Metallic Powders to create the metal finish of the pin! I also had some vintage red white and blue crepe paper streamer that I used to back the pin.

Here's the finished invitation!! I really love the way these turned out, and how simple and easy it was to create them! I think I might use these pieces to create some patriotic banners too! I especially love that my "I-only-have-one" piece has now turned into an "I-have-as-many-as-I-want!" piece, thanks to Amazing Crafting Products

Now tell the truth... Am I the only

Drippy Drippy... Vlad is a bit messy! DIY Dripping Wine Glass Party Decor by Tanya Ruffin

Time for another Halloween craft. I love crafts that are used for home decor and combined with my favorite season, that would be Halloween decor! At my art studio I teach lots of classes on etching wine glasses, so I thought I would combine home decor with etched wine glasses and this is the Halloween craft i came up with. I can actually see this being used all sorts of ways, but for Halloween I will use red resin to simulate blood!

Supplies:
  • Amazing Clear Cast Resin
  • Alumilite Red Dye
  • Stir stick - $ store
  • Wine Glass - $ store
  • Mini Glass Apothecary Jar Candle, red, 3 oz. - $ store
  • Contact Paper - $ store
  • Etch Cream
  • Painters tape - $ store
  • Non stick surface
  • Plastic cup - $ store
  • Measuring cup - $ store

Before I started my project, I needed to gauge how much Amazing Clear Cast Resin I would need. To do this, I sat the candle in the wine glass and filled the glass with water. Once I liked where the water stopped on the candle I took out the candle and poured the water in a measuring cup. Then I calculated how much half would be (since I will add half the total volume as part "A" and the other half as part "B"). Now I pour the half amount of water in a plastic cup and mark when it is.

Oddly, on a solo cup the half amount was on the "wine" mark. I then poured the remaining half water in the cup and marked where it stopped. So I now know where part "A" will stop and where part "B" will stop (when I add it on top). Now I will use this plastic cup to mix my Amazing Clear Cast Resin when I get to that stage.

My cup was yellow and I could see through it fine.

First thing I did was cut a "Vlad Tepes Dracul" stencil with my Pazzles cutting machine. This can be hand cut using contact paper of you don't have a cutter or can even be free handed with etch cream that comes in a squirt bottle.

Apply the stencil to the glass, burnish (don't forget this step - make sure to get all edges of the design burnished well!) and add etching cream. The etch cream I use has an etching time of 5 minutes.

This is how it looks after it is etched.

Next - test out how the candle will sit.
You can get these tiny candles at the dollar store
and the labels peel off easily.

Now I'm ready to mix the Amazing Clear Cast Resin.

Remember to add the Alumilite Red Dye to part "A" of the Amazing Clear Cast Resin and mix. Make it a little dark since you will be adding part "B" in and it will thin the color a bit. I used about 20 squirts of red dye... and be prepared for that to take awhile, it squirts slow. Which that is a good thing on small projects!

I used a plastic cover sheet from an old Pazzles cutting mat as my non stick surface... you will make a mess (and yes, the Cricut mat works in the Pazzles and no, I didn't mess up my new mat)!

No matter how much you want to, don't put the candle in before you have poured all the resin. If you measured correctly you will have the exact amount of resin.

My candle wanted to tilt a little, so I put some blue painters tape
on the inside of the candle and taped it to the edge of the wine glass.

Now I can begin to drizzle red resin down the glass.

Amazing Clear Cast Resin takes a full 24 hours to completely cure,
but after 12 hours you can handle it.

Drippy drippy... Vlad is a bit messy!

NOTE: Take the price tag off before you start!

It glows beautifully and will bring out the etched name
even more when the candle burns down more!

This does take a lot of Amazing Clear Cast Resin, so you may want to start on a smaller wine glass. Mine was 20 oz because I wanted my small candle to sit all the way down inside. Also be aware that resin heats as it cures, so you don't want just a wax candle inside with no container (use a plastic or glass item as a place holder to create a void -or- form one out of Amazing Mold Putty). My wax melted inside as it was curing, but it hardened back up.

Amazing Mold Rubber Breeds a Ghoulish Glam Necklace... AMAZING Inspiration by Tracy Alden

Hello! Tracy here again with another inspiration post! Some of you might laugh but my inspiration for this project is my allergies and a lack of time. I have a lot of allergies to key ingredients in beauty care products, which makes putting on any makeup for Halloween difficult. Compounding that, on Halloween we set up a haunted house and yard for the kids and a potluck for friends, which means very little time for a costume. I wanted to come up with something ghoulish but easy to add to most costumes quickly. Well... Amazing Mold Rubber came to the rescue for me! I wanted to do a faux blood drip necklace made from resin that was optically clear, had great detail but was super light.

I made a faux liquid drip original in polymer clay. I made a mistake with trying to mold the original without making it super smooth. The Amazing Mold Rubber takes such a super fine detail mold of the original that it was making a slightly matte castings. So I went over my original polymer piece with several gloss coats of sealer; in this case I used Mod Podge after degreasing the polymer clay. Now that it is super smooth and glossy, I let it dry before molding.

Because my original was an odd shape, I made my mold box out of a coated cereal box. I used packing tape and hot glue to seal the edges. I glued my original to the bottom of the mold box and poured the Amazing Mold Rubber. The mold came out super glossy and smooth, perfect for casting a ghoulish necklace for Halloween using Amazing Clear Cast Resin and Alumilite Red Dye! I drilled a hole on each side of the pendant and threaded clear elastic jewelry cord on for easy wear.

From Garage Sale Find to Fall Inspired Jewelry... AMAZING Inspiration from Maria Soto

Hi everyone, this is Maria sharing with you another project inspiration. I love to go garage sale shopping with my sister on Saturday mornings, not just to find some cools stuff but to get some much needed walking, you know having a 9 to 5 job where you get to sit for most of the day is not healthy... so hey, going to garage sales is not just fun but healthy – LOL!

Well I love to look for old, vintage jewelry that I can take apart later on and either use it to make new items or add to some mixed media projects. Well I found this nice necklace - it had pretty fall colors and I bought it. I have this thing about making jewelry, it not only needs to be pretty, but comfortable, this necklace was pretty heavy for me, I tried to wear it as is, but just couldn't enjoy wearing it- so I had to take it apart.

I took it all apart and make a set of jewelry, it had to include a ring, but sadly I did not have enough of the amber like stones so I decided to take out the Amazing Crafting Products and get started on making one more stone to make my RING, a must have for me.

Materials I used to make my stone:

Take equal amounts of parts "A" and "B" of Amazing Mold Putty and mix until thoroughly com (follow directions on box or CLICK HERE to view) pressed the bead onto the putty and waited about 10 minutes for the putty to set, removed and my mold was ready for the Amazing Clear Cast Resin.

Second step – I took the Amazing Clear Cast Resin and poured equal amounts of parts "A" and "B" into separate measuring cups (included with resin). I added a drop of the Alumilite Orange Dye into part "A", mixed until I had a color similar to the stone next to the cup.

Third – I took a paper clip, opened it up as you see on the photo above, I took a little of the Alumilite Red Dye and placed it randomly onto the colored resin already poured into the mold. I did mix it a little too much, and I didn't like the way it looked with the tiny red spots of dye. Next time I will leave the spots alone.

Now it's time to let the resin set! When I make rings this way I don't like adding glue to the resin piece and the ring base, I add the ring base to the resin piece when it's still a bit sticky and not fully set, I forgot to take a photo, but that's what I did. I don't mind using a strong glue, but I find this way is better, I know the ring will not come off and is water proof so it will be set for good.

Here is the "ring" all ready for the final additions;
wire and beads to be glued on top of the resin piece.

Side view of the cured resin ring.

Here is the finished ring, it now matches the earrings and bracelet I made from the old necklace I bought. Perfect colors for fall.

Thank you for stopping by. If you would like to see the full set I created from my necklaces, stop over at my blog "What is Creativity" at http://chuy-creativity.blogspot.com.

Oh! An Amazing Light Bulb Moment!!! AMAZING Inspiration from Maria Soto

Hi there, as much as I love to craft with all the amazing products in the market, I love to recycle as much as I can. So the other day we had to replace the light bulbs in my dinning room light fixture, it requires 3 small light bulbs, so my son gave me the used light bulbs and said, "here I know you'll find some use for these". Well they sat in a small glass bowl on my desk at home for a while and I kept looking at them wondering what to do. Suddenly it hit me, use them as decorations for the holidays that are coming up, like Halloween, maybe Christmas.

So here is what I started with, my little light bulbs.

Now here are my new ornaments, I'm thinking I might add some ribbons to the wire when the time comes to use them. for now these are held together with some silver wire and beads, all ready to hang!!!.

Can't wait to get some more bulbs between now and the holidays, just think of all the possibilities you have to decorate these light bulbs, so next time you have to replace some at your home, don't discard them, keep them and find a way to recycle them, go try some Amazing Crafting Products and give them a new purpose.

For all three light bulbs I used the Amazing Casting Resin and Alumilite Dyes in Red, Brown, Violet and Black.

You need to make sure to pour equal amounts of part "A" and part "B" of the Amazing Casting Resin;  otherwise your resin will not cure and you will have a failed project. When using these amazing Alumilite Dyes, you don't need to use a lot, a little goes a long way, I added a little bit of black dye to the violet.

Now for the red light bulb, I brushed the colored resin on the entire bulb making sure to cover it completely, for the violet bulbs I decided to just poured it over the light bulb making sure to leave some areas free of the resin to give it a different look, I wanted all three to look different.

I had worked on something else after I finished these light bulbs and had used the clear resin with the brown dye, since I had a little left over I decided to pour it over the red light bulb to see if it would give it a bit of dimension to the color, and it sure did.

Please be careful when you handle any light bulb, they are fragile and you don't want to hold too tight, for they might brake, also this is not a project I would recommend for a child, please be careful when you work with glass items, be safe.

Now, I don't like to waste so I had some left over resin and I poured a bit into a heart mold I had on hand and made it into a ring, below you can see the mold I used ( previously made by using Amazing Mold Putty and a Swarovsky crystal heart ), also the side and top view of the finished ring.

I find it amazing when ideas come to you as you work on a project, creativity is always there, so go on and create something amazing.

I hope to have inspired you to do
some AMAZING green crafting!!!

Capture those "Good Times"... Mini Shadow Box
by Guest Designer Jess B.

Hi Everyone! Jessica here to show you another fun way to use Amazing Clear Cast Resin and Alumilite Dye. I wanted to create a gift that I know will put a life-long smile on my husband's face.

As our children are growing so quickly, I want to cherish those Good Times. I am my moms only child... and will never understand what it is like to have a brother or sister. My kids can fight and argue all day but still manage to find comfort together. This picture was not staged or set up - I walked over casually to the living room and said "smile".

I started with a wooden shadow box by conditioning, painting and then let dry over night. I added a piece of scrap paper as my first layer. I prepared a batch of Amazing Clear Cast Resin, following the easy instructions {click here to view} and measured equal amounts of parts "A" and "B"; then stirred gently and thoroughly. I let it rest for a few minutes before pouring over the paper into the tray.

I used a lighter to remove any bubbles leftover from mixing. I set aside to cure for 24 hours.

The next day, I prepared and added another layer of Amazing Clear Cast Resin; then added mini bulbs from Hobby Lobby "Spare Parts" collection, some colorful beads and cello glitter. I repeated the same process for the first layer to remove remaining bubbles and let cure again for another 24 hours.

For a third and final layer - I added the photo and dropped in a few drops of Alumilite Red Dye inside creating swirls with a toothpick. I let this cure for another 24 hours... and it's DONE!

INGREDIENTS: Amazing Clear Cast ResinAlumilite Red Dye; wooden shadow box; scrap paper; photo; Recollections wood embellishments; miscellaneous beads; and Hobby Lobby - Paper Studio Spare Parts.

I am very happy with this project and have started my holiday gift giving.

What would you put inside your Shadow Box?

I would love to hear what your answer is and what you would LOVE to create with Amazing Mold Putty... please leave a comment below! To see more of my work, please CLICK HERE to visit my blog "thatzuneek".
