#Cre8time Celebrations... DIY Patriotic Planter by Brenda Burfeind

Happy 4th of July! Brenda from Creativity is a State of Mind to share what has become my annual 4th of July project. It's not just Independence Day, it's my husband's birthday also – and every year on the 4th, we have a big party and celebrate with lots of games, good food and of course fireworks.

I try to decorate as much as possible, but this year time got a little away from me... but I did manage to make some planters representing my love for the red, white and blue. Last year I created an amazing Patriotic wind chime using Amazing Clear Cast Resin – you can see it by CLICKING HERE

Using the same method as last year's resin paper stars, I created these stars. When cured, I layered one of each color on top of a coordinating piece of ribbon to embellish some simple silver vases.

How do you show your Cre8time colors?

Wishing everyone a happy and safe 4th of July. I hope you enjoy your 4th and thank you for stopping by. I hope you've enjoyed my project for today! I invite you to stop over to my blog, Creativity is a State of Mind to see all that I've been making.

Until next time, Happy Crafting! ~ Brenda

#Cre8time Celebrations... Windchime American Style by Brenda Burfeind

Happy 4th of JULY everyone! Brenda here from Creativity is a State of Mind and I'm so excited for my post today. If you have been following us here at Amazing Casting Products, you will know that I've been crafting with them for many, many years and the 4th of July has always been my day to post projects. Why? Because it's my hubby's birthday and I am super patriotic, especially on this fine day!

So let's dive right in...

I started out with a paper table cloth I bought at Walmart. It's that crepe-paper style that tears the minute you get it out of the package! This is where the creativity comes in!

You will need a plastic bag, baking/freezer paper
or a teflon sheet to lay your paper on.

I mixed up some Amazing Clear Cast Resin to make my resin paper. All you need to do is mix up the resin and you find view the easy mixing instructions HERE! Make sure you wear gloves and coat both sides of your paper evenly and leave it alone for a couple of hours. I think my paper set up in about 4 hours.

Here is a short video on how the resin
"paper" looks and feels after it's dried.

Please CLICK HERE if you are unable to view video.

Now onto step 2 ...

With my Cricut I cut three stars out of chipboard, "recycled cereal box" to be exact. With some left over Amazing Clear Cast Resin from the previous step, I covered the stars and "glued" my crepe-paper table cloth onto it and cut around the excess.

I got this "bottle dryer" at a thrift store and knew I was going to use this for my doming. This has been an amazing find for me. It's made out of a rubbery material and the resin comes right off of it. FABULOUS!!

I laid my stars on top and slowly poured my Amazing Clear Cast Resin over the top. Make sure you spread it to all the edges and tips of the stars. Also make sure you have this placed on a LEVEL table. You do not want your stars to have more resin on one side or the other.

This set up in about 12 hours. It might have been less but I left it alone for that long.

Here the stars as they are drying.
By using the "recycled cereal box" it
gave the stars an aged look. LOVE IT!

So after my resin paper had dried I took an embroidery hoop and cut out a circle. Again mixing up a tiny bit of Amazing Clear Cast Resin, I applied that to the edge of the embroidery hoop. I could have used another glue, but I wanted to make sure it looked even. SURE – use your clear cast as glue!!!

Since the paper was already covered with resin it didn't "bleed" through and I was able to use my homemade clamps (clothespins made with my crepe-paper table cloth) to keep it taught.

This set up in about 20 minutes. GORGEOUS!

I drilled holes into the embroidery hoop and the tips of the stars. Using fishing line I attached the stars with bells to the embroidery hoop and VIOLA, my Patriotic Wind Chime was created.

It was so hard to catch a still photo so here is a very short video on what it looks like swinging in the breeze. AMAZING!!!

Celebrating #Cre8time Freedom with American "Fries"... AMAZING Inspiration by Brenda Burfeind

Happy 4th of July!!! Brenda here today to share what's become a tradition here on the Amazing Casting Products Blog that started back in 2013 with this patriotic pin. Last summer I created these dangling sparkling stars to wear... and today I am adorned with new earrings just in time for the celebration!

Today is my favorite day of the year! It's better than Christmas and my Birthday rolled into one! Today is America's birthday and my husband's birthday also. I've always been very patriotic and today I am here to inspire you with my American "Fries" earrings. You will totally understand in a minute.

My grandkids have recently come to live with us and therefore we have all sorts of toys laying around the house. The crafter in me is always looking at their toys wondering what I could mold or create with using Amazing Casting Products

Today is no exception! Recently we were playing kitchen and I saw these amazing French Fries in their mixture of play food...

Oh how the wheels started to spin!

I just had to make a mold with those cute play fries. I poured them with some Amazing Casting Resin after making a mold with the Amazing Mold Putty and let them cure for about 5 minutes.

Using regular acrylic paints, I painted some red stripes and a small section in blue on top of the white Amazing Casting Resin. E6000® and some rhinestones for some bling and drilling a hole to attach some jump rings and earring wires I now I have the perfect earrings for the 4th of July!

I totally thought how the shape of those French fries reminded me of a waving flag... and I brought that vision to life! AMAZING!!!

I hope I've inspired you to use something out of your kids'
or grandkids' stash and create something fun!

How do you Celebrate your Cre8time Freedom?

Thanks for stopping and until next time, Brenda from Creativity is a State of Mind wishing you a safe 4th of July!

No-Sew Patriotic Scarf-lace with Resin and Fabric... a Tutorial by Tanya Ruffin

Patriotic Scarf-lace by Tanya Ruffin for Amazing Mold Putty

This project first came to mind after I spied some toy soldiers at the dollar store... Hmmm, what to make??? So I made a mold and cast the soldiers, I painted them army green and they were adorable. I thought about just putting a jump ring on it and making a charm, but how boring is that? AND I was a day late for Memorial Day... so next up, 4th of July!!

I found some flag fabric in my stash drawer (why I have fabric, I have no idea since I cant sew worth a poop) and thought to use it as a necklace base.

I had recently purchased some cool army dies from Die-Versions and thought the eagle would be an awesome centerpiece to my Patriotic Scarf-lace.  So, here is what I did...

Materials:

First I cut my fabric to the shape of a bandanna.

Fold in half and then cut in a triangle shape.
Keep folded in half for cutting fringe.

Cut fringe and slide pony beads on.

**One tip**... Use a open paper clip to help feed the fabric through the bead.

Now mold and cast your soldiers. I found mine at the dollar store. You will need to clip off the stand of each and file and trim some of the edges.

I added Alumilite Blue Dye to the Amazing Casting Resin so I would have vivid blue pieces {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. The army green didn't seem to work with the bright flag pattern.

Glue a pony bead to the back of the soldier so you can slide the soldier on the fringe. The weight of the soldier may make it slide off, so I tied a knot under it.

Now you are going to make the eagle. I used the box from a 12 pack of Sam's colas. Punch 4 or 5 Die-Versions Eagles out and glue them together.

What Die can you try?

Glue a pony bead in the center (I used a smaller bead) and slide in the center of the scarf-lace with the soldiers flanking. Tie a knot under each soldier and the eagle.

How amazing is this?

I even went back and made a mold of the back of the soldiers.
They were just as nice as the front side.

Our finished project came out Amazing!
You can tie it around your neck or add a necklace clasp to it.

How would you embellish
your own Patriotic Scarf-lace?

A Rose is a Rose is a ROSE! From Chocolate to Resin to Custom Soap with Amazing Mold Rubber
by Brenda Burfeind

Greetings Amazing Crafters! Brenda here on Mold Rubber Monday to show you a fabulous project that I am so thrilled with. It's been a long three weeks that I have had to keep this a secret, but today is my big reveal. This will be a very, very long post and picture heavy – with an added bonus of a video because I am going to actually show you three projects in one.

I started out with cleaning my dresser off and found this "yummy" chocolate rose my hubby gave me 10 years or so ago. I was actually pleasantly surprised that the chocolate wasn't totally white when I unwrapped it.

from this...

to this!

Now, it turned out "nice" but it definitely had some flaws. The nice thing about Amazing Mold Rubber is that is picks up ALL the detail of the original item... the bad thing is that it picks up ALL the detail of the original item, LOL!

I then created this...

which was pretty in itself, but still had some flaws.

I also created one layered with the Amazing Crafting Resin with Alumlite Fluorescent "FLO" Red Dye; just the casting resin without coloring; and then with another layer with the Alumilite Blue Dye. Pretty, right?

After making these I showed hubby what I had made. He is my go to guy when I've created because he DOES NOT hold back in critiquing me. Sometimes that's good, sometimes not so good. This time he looked at the rose, turned it over and over and said "You know..." which means he isn't totally into what I just made "...you could improve on this a bit if you cut those lines out. Can you cut resin?"

So back to the drawing board I went.

I then created this piece with Amazing Clear Cast Resin and Alumilite Pearlescent Powder just to see how it would turn out.

Here it is, all pretty in sparkly white.

Just because this is what I do – I used the Oil Pastels
from Frog Dog Studio to give it some color.

Then I heat set it with my heat gun, and rubbed the oil pastel in to give it an incredibly cool shiny color. AND when you put heat on the resin, it also softens it a bit so that...

You can use your exacto knife and trim away all the grooves.
How cool is that?

From that I went to create another batch of Amazing Mold Rubber {CLICK HERE to view preparation}. Now when I am ready to mold something I keep all the "extra" bits and pieces of molds that either didn't turn out or the skin from the mixing cups and "bed" my original piece. It saves on not having to use a lot of the mold rubber and pouring it onto this will actually adhere itself directly to the bits and pieces.

If you can, always hot glue your original piece to your container. This will keep your piece from "floating" and creates a nice hole to pull your piece out of.

Voila! My "perfect" rose mold.

This rose was actually made by first adding a mixture of Amazing Casting Resin and swirling it around in the mold to give it an edge. You definitely have to have some patience when doing this technique, but the outcome is fabulous. Then when that was totally cured I added more Amazing Casting Resin with Alumilite Black Dye and filled the mold. Once it came out of the mold, I also added a little bit of the oil pastel in black around the edges and heat set that again also. I didn't have to do this, but since inventing this technique, I feel I want to heat set everything with oil pastels. LOL!

I created a wire piece, drilled a hole in the center of the rose and glued it with E6000® to make a picture holder. Since the resin piece is so dense it's actually a solid somewhat heavy piece.

Now, while I was creating ALL these fun roses I had some time between drying, curing, setting, etc. and I was looking around my craft room and found this:

I actually remember purchasing this at Michaels on clearance last fall. Ding, ding, ding... could you really use the Amazing Mold Rubber molds to make soap? YES!

Here is the proof of what I did – Enjoy!

Keep in mind this is my first video in a very, very long time... so please don't judge.

If you don't want to watch the video or cannot watch it, keep reading. There is a full step-by-step following on how I did what I did.

I melted the soap in the microwave for 20 seconds, added some fragrance and two drops of the purple colorant – then poured the mixture into my mold.

Put it into the refrigerator for 10 minutes.

Since I had no idea if this would work or not – I slowly pulled the edges from the piece away and it sorta just popped out.

Check this out...

Is this beautiful or what?

Here are some other pieces I made just because I had the soap all melted. All the other pieces except the rose are Amazing Mold Putty molds. So, the proof is that you can also pour soap into those molds.

I got a little dish at the Dollar Store, wrapped the soaps with some fake flowers and Viola... a pretty accent for your bathroom.

Now, I do have to say that after letting the roses set out for a day, they "dried" a bit more and kinda crystallized – I love this look even more than the glossy look.

If you are still reading here, thank you for sticking around to read all the way through. I hope you had a chance to watch the video also. It was my first attempt at a video in a very long time and I think I did pretty good. I hope you enjoyed today's post and thank you so very much for all patience with this uber long post.

What would you mold to make custom
soaps with Amazing Mold Rubber?

Please leave me a comment below with any questions or feedback.
I love to hear what others think.

If you have a chance please jump over to my blog, Creativity is a State of Mind.
Until next time, happy crafting! Brenda
