So Many Ways, So Many Ideas, it's Amazing!!! AMAZING Inspiration from Maria Soto

Hi there, it's me... Maria Soto sharing with you some other ways to use the Amazing Clear Cast Resin. I have to say I enjoy using the Amazing Casting Resin a bit more when casting items from molds, because it cures faster and lets face it – it's hard to wait hours to see the casted piece. However, I love using the Amazing Clear Cast Resin for other things besides casting objects.

I love to use the Amazing Clear Cast Resin as a sealer, and also as a type of permanent glue in many projects. Below I share a few projects showing examples. We know that if clear cast resin cures with a dull finish, another layer can be applied and used as a sealer to brings out an amazing shiny finish.

I was so inspired by several CHA designers that created some incredible Banners of Hope that were displayed at the 2014 winter CHA a few days ago. I was not able to create and submit a banner, but felt the need to create something, and so I did, I created a HOPE frame. I made this as our family has endured the pain of losing a family member to cancer as well as cancer survivors. I made this in their honor and with HOPE that a cure is found to end all types of cancer.

In the middle of the frame, I used Amazing Casting Resin colored with Blue and Violet Alumilite Dyes; and I also used it as a glue to hold together the duck tape flower and the Rowlux partial flower. The Amazing Clear Cast Resin was applied on the entire frame, including the center, to seal and bring a shiny finish to the entire frame. I added all the other embellishments to the center of the frame after pouring the clear cast resin so it was too used as a glue.

As I worked to finish this mask, I noticed it needed a lot more shine, so I used the Amazing Clear Cast Resin to cover the entire mask. The Rowlux flowers were easy to remove since I used Maya Road brads to keep in place, but the vellum flowers on the other side were glued – so I just brushed some resin on the vellum flowers. Below, you will find two comparison photos and a photo of the finished mask. You can see I added some crystals after the resin was applied; allowing me to use the clear cast resin as a sealer and glue at the same time.

At this point the Amazing Clear Cast Resin was just applied to the left side of the mask to show the difference with and without the resin application.

Another view, you can see how the left side of the mask looks all shiny. I will say that the Viva Decor Inka Gold paints used on this mask give it a shiny look, however, I was looking for a stronger shine and protection. I feel that the Amazing Clear Cast Resin was the best product to get these results.

Here is the finished mask, ready to wear!!!

Amazing Clear Cast Resin can also be used to add shine and "POP"
to paper embellishments like this dimensional flower.

I had a lot of Amazing Clear Cast Resin left so I poured some on my Amazing Mold Rubber mold from my button frame {click here to jump to see post}– to cast pieces that I would be able to use later on. I found out that when you use the Amazing Clear Cast Resin on the new Amazing Mold Rubber molds... it comes out with a beautiful shine; unlike when you use the mold putty molds. These pieces look so transparent and shiny – I can't wait to used them later on future projects.

I hope that this post will inspire you to use these amazing products in other ways, play around. Take chances... sometimes accidents lead to new creative ways to use them and this I find very exciting!

Altering Embellishments for a Perfect Match... AMAZING Inspiration from Maria Soto

Hi, this is Maria Soto with an inspiration post for you today. Amazing Mold Putty is convenient and easy to use – so I like to mold and cast different items, just to have on hand. I'm currently moving my craft rooms into just one room – bigger and better. As I was sorting materials I found projects I had started but never really finished. I found this cute papier-mâché box that I had painted in red acrylic and covered the lid with polymer clay.

Well I figure it just had to be finished, and would make a perfect addition to my gift for my Secret Santa. Once I did some more painting on the box, I found the right embellishment among all my resin casts. A blue resin cameo, dry brushed some different colors, a bit of glitter, some lace and flowers... well once all were glued on the box lid, I was done.

Above is the casting of the cameo from when I made it –

Here is a photo of the box, it's a three piece, as you can see there is an insert on the lid – so you can add photos/images and change them whenever you want.

Here is a close up of the cameo showing the gold/silver paints I used and the glitter. I love the emerald crystals. Underneath the cameo I glued a piece of lace. Then after adding the cameo, I thought a few tiny flowers would make a perfect addition and bring in more color to the box.

I can't wait to finish organizing my new craft room so I can go ahead and finish all these projects I started some time ago. I have created so many embellishments is just a matter of matching the right embellishment to complete each project.

Working with Amazing Crafting Products has been fun, creative and made crafting so much easier. I hope I have inspired you to give these products a try – trust me you will find yourself casting just about anything you see and altering items to match what ever project you feel like creating.

Once in a BLUE MOON... Creating Special Holiday Ornaments by Maria Soto

Hi, there this is Maria Soto bringing you a How-to project, perfect for the Holidays. My daughter received a moon magnet from her best friend who lives in Chicago – she knows how much my daughter loves the "Moon". This is a really cute magnet so I thought this year I would make special ornaments for my kids. I decided to make her a "moon" ornament. I know she's going to love it.

Take the Amazing Mold Putty and combine equal amounts of parts "A" & "B". When mixed completely, I pressed in the magnet to create the mold of the moon. It usually takes about 10 minutes or less for the putty to set, however I noticed that it was a bit cold the day I made my mold – and it took about an additional 5 minutes to cure. So keep in mind that the weather conditions in your area can affect how fast/slow your mold putty sets.

I had extra space, so I took a tiny clip earring that I can't wear anymore,
and pressed it in to make a tiny mold that I might use later on.

Here is my mold, ready for the next step!

Next step was combining the Amazing Casting Resin and the Alumilite Blue Dye. I took part "A" of the casting resin and added a few drops of the blue die, mixed it well and then added part "B" of the casting resin. I stirred to combine both until it feels warm, then poured into the mold. Wait until it cures – in about 10 - 15 minutes it's safe to remove from the mold. If the resin feels too soft, just leave it alone for a while longer.

Make sure to follow the directions on the box for proper mixing of Amazing Casting Resin – and remember it is best to add your dye to part "A" first before combining parts "A" and "B".

Part "A" and Alumilite Blue Dye all mixed;
ready to combine with part "B" of the Amazing Casting Resin.

Once you remove your new cast piece, check to see if you need to trim any resin from the edges. I use small scissors or emery boards to remove any rough edges.

Once my moon was all ready for embellishing, it was just a matter of deciding what types of paints to use. I used some Viva Decor silver paint – rubbing on some areas only. I liked the blue color of the piece so I didn't want to completely cover it.

I removed the little star that was part of the original piece and decided to add a beaded bead; made from  some Beadalon silver wire and gold wired ribbon for hanger. I made a few fun wire loops just to add more embellishment to the ornament. I can't wait to give this to my daughter to hang this year. Now all I have to do is come up with two more ornaments for my sons.

Molds and Castings and Findings... OH MY!!! AMAZING Inspiration by Maria Soto

Hello everyone, this is Maria and today I'm sharing with you a few of some of the molds and castings that I've done. I like to make these in advance and keep on hand for future projects.

Equal amounts of parts "A" & "B" of Amazing Mold Putty are needed in order to make the perfect mold. I like to condition each part separately before combing both (follow instructions on the box - or click here to watch video).

Amazing Mold Putty – parts "A" & "B" completely mixed
and ready to create molds, like the ones pictured below.

The same mold was used to cast each piece shows, you can see the difference between the Amazing Clear Cast Resin and the Amazing Casting Resin. I love the glass look on the doll and the flower, just add some glitter gel and you are done... or paint over the areas you want to show more details. This allows you to finish any piece as needed for your projects.

These really come in handy when you are busy putting a project together. I poured some of these using the Amazing Clear Cast Resin, and also the Amazing Casting Resin, you get two different looks, I did add color to some of the resin before pouring and some are just clear or white so I can add colors later on as needed.

If you look around you will find some really cool items to make molds out of, or you can make your own like I did here – the witch's boot you see in the photo below was first made out of clay; then I used the Amazing Mold Putty to make a mold, and now I can cast as many boots as I want.

Using just one mold paired with Alumilite Dyes and Alumilite Metallic Powders
and your own crafty stash... you can create a whole flock of handmade charms
(or whatever items you desire)!

Here is a photo of some cool owl charms I made for a swap –
these all were made using Amazing Casting Resin.

I hope this post will inspire you to get creative, to go ahead and try Amazing Crafting Products and share with us by posting photos of your projects in our user gallery

Keep Finding Skeletons in the Coffins... Make AMAZING Altered Coffins by Maria Soto

Hi there, this is Maria with another spooky project...
using no other than Amazing Crafting Products.

Wood coffin, ready to be decorated!!!

I found this cute coffin at the craft store and decided to get a few to decorate, at the time of purchase I was thinking paper as the main material to decorate these, however once I got home and looked at all the molds I had poured I decided to go with Amazing Casting Resin to do the decorating of these coffins.

The coffin after a couple of resin pours, is all ready to add the black make up cream, yes I decided to use this instead of acrylic paint, just wanted to see how it would work on the resin and the wood.
Now I made two different ones, following the same steps. I used the Amazing Casting Resin for two reasons, it sets in a white color and it sets in just about 10 minutes each pour. I poured resin over the coffins in different areas, the objective was not to do a solid coverage, I wanted some areas of the wood to be left uncovered, and by pouring several layers of resin, you get a lot of dimension.

This is the final result after applying with my fingers the black make-up cream paint to the areas covered in Amazing Casting Resin, you can't see the inside but I did the same as on the outside, after wards I added a little of the green make-up cream paint to the inside of the coffin to add more color.
On the other coffin used for this post (photo below) I mixed some of the Alumilite Copper Metallic Powder to add some color to the resin, once it was set, the inside was painted all in red and on the outside where I used the resin I went over in some areas with red acrylic paint, adding and removing the paint so only some areas had the red, I used some of Tim Holtz new distress glitter in red over the resin before it totally set, to use it as glue for the glitter to stay and it worked.

Front of coffin (you can see on the bottom some of the
copper colored Amazing Casting Resin used).

Back of Coffin (used the same black make-up cream paint),
and the white you see is the white Amazing Casting Resin.

Side views showing the texture you get from the colored resin,
and the paints added to bring in more color.

Close up of the front of the coffin.

Once the coffin was painted it was just a matter of gathering objects I had on hand to decorate it. On the photos below you will see I took a skeleton that only had a head and arms, three rings a skull, spider and a bat (I cut the bands off). I like to make a lot of molds of things I have around the house, pour resin and keep on hand for future use, that is what I did with the frame you see on the top of the coffin, it was made with mold potty and I used an old makeup box to make the mold. Below are photos of the open coffins I decorated, I will be making a few more as gifts.

A view of the Open coffin - this one was just painted all with red
acrylic paint and used black lace and ribbon.

A view of the second Open coffin. Here you can see how the inside is a lot different from the other coffin – on this photo you can see the the green make-up paint and red acrylic paint I added to finish the coffin.
I really liked the inside, I took the skeleton that only had a head and arms and cut him up, I placed the head and one hand inside the coffin and then used some old resin spill I had and placed it inside the coffin, instead of using glue to adhere the resin piece and the skeleton head, I mixed some more Amazing Casting Resin colored with Alumilite Silver Metallic Powder and poured it in the inside – leaving some areas exposed of the skeleton head. I added flowers and a bat before the resin set so they would stay permanently. I glued one hand on the outside of the coffin – to make it look as if he melted away while trying to get out.

For the second coffin, I decided to use resin only on the coffin to match the outside, the entire skeleton was used but since it was too big, I figure why not make it look like he's getting out, so I cut the head and arms off and glue them to the outside while the rest of the body was glued inside the coffin.

Below are photos to show how different the inside of both coffins look.

A close-up of how the inside looks of the first coffin I made

Here is a close-up of how the inside looks on the second coffin.

I used a lot of left over materials to decorate this coffin. How you decorate is up to you, but using Amazing Casting Resin to color, add texture and dimension to the coffin is what I did here, and to also use it as a glue, now you can't beat that, I say is great when one product can be used in many different ways. Not to mention I did use molded objects such as the cabochon and picture frame casting used on the front of the coffins and resin spills to decorate, I've found out working with wire ribbon has an advantage, since I didn't need the wire on the edges, I cut it off and used it as a decoration (wire already covered with fabric, a plus) as you can see on coffin #2, I wrapped the wire on a paintbrush handle and added to the coffin, nothing really goes to waste.

This cabochon casting was made using Amazing Mold Putty and Amazing Casting Resin with Alumilite Silver Metallic Powders, once set I used the Alumilite Gun Metal Metallic Powder all over. Once done, added some Alumilite Gold Metallic Powder and dry brushed some red acrylic paint on top; then coming back with a little bit more of the gun metal and gold metallic powers. These powders are amazing to work with!

I had so much fun decorating these coffins, I can't wait for Halloween so they can go to their new owners. Have you tried Amazing Crafting Products? Here is a link to our photo gallery, come and share your amazing projects. http://www.moldputty.com/Gallery.cfm
