Painted Posies and #Cre8time Page Marking for #ArtJournaling by Melissa Johnson

Hello everyone! Today I'm sharing a simple technique that I used to add some color in the margin of my Bible. This technique could be used in an art journal as well. I just happened to be working through a Bible study at the moment. I've also created some fun paperclips that could be used in any journal or planner. I chose to use one of these in my Bible to hold my place. I like to use paperclips also to attach extra notes and notecards inside.

To create the artwork in the margin, I started by embossing some flowers using Versamark® ink and some embossing powder. Versamark is a clear watermark ink used for stamping, heat embossing and other mixed media effects.

Next, I used more Versamark® to stamp and then poured on Alumidust to add color. The Alumidust sticks to the wet ink, and the rest is tapped away to go back into the container.

I also used a combination of Versamark®, Alumidust, and watercolor to color in the embossed flowers. I also used some acrylic paint to add some color all around.

To create the paperclips I used Amazing Mold Putty and Amazing Casting Resin to cast some cabochons that I had in my stash.

I added some acrylic paints in fun colors
and adhered them to some jumbo paperclips.

And the final result:

Read All About It!! Casting with ReMARKable Detail in Amazing Mold Rubber by Melissa Johnson

Good morning everyone! Today I am sharing a fun bookmark that I created using Amazing Mold Rubber, which I have to say is pretty darn amazing! It cures so quickly (well, here in Texas!).

To begin, I wanted to cast a few antique crystals that I bought last summer at an antiques show. I mixed the mold rubber and glued down my pieces using a heavy duty glue dot {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. I used the lid of an container of beads as the mold box.

When the mold was completely cured, I pulled the original pieces out.

I decided to use the larger of the crystals for this particular project, so I mixed up some Amazing Clear Cast Resin and poured it into the mold. When that had cured, I painted it with a very thin layer of Golden paint in cobalt blue and drilled a small hole in the top. The detail is amazing!

I also had a small key laying around and since there was some extra resin, I found a bezel in my stash and laid down a scrap piece along with the key and poured the resin over it all.

While that was curing, I found a piece of ribbon in my stash and using the Alumilite Dye in Blue, I mixed up a few drops along with some water and some alcohol. The alcohol was actually an accident. :) It was still in my mini spray bottle I keep on my desk from a previous project.

I dipped the ribbon in the mixture and let it soak in.
Then I pulled it out, balled it up, and dried it with a heat gun.

To finish, I assembled all of the pieces (adding in a metal
finding from my stash) using jump rings and the dyed ribbon.

What found objects will you mold
and cast in Amazing Mold Rubber?

Never Leave Home without a Book Thong for Your Summer Beach Read... AMAZING Inspiration from Carole Lassak

Hi!! Carole here to inspire you with a quick, easy and fun project. Even though I have several electronic gadgets for reading a book – Kindle, tablet, iPhone – I still like the feel of the paper in my hands. On those occasions I need a way to mark my place. What is better than a handmade book thong!!

I created these from pieces I cast using Amazing Casting Resin in molds that I made using Amazing Mold Putty.

Cord, a few beads, knots, and crimps added to the resin charms equals a book thong. I used my Dremel to drill the hole for the cord in the resin charms.

What's on your summer reading list that could
use a book thong to mark your place?

You can see more projects using Amazing Crafting Products on my Create & Craft blog. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Summer Treats... AMAZING Altered Paperclip
Tutorial by Isabel Villarreal

Who doesn't like a cool tasty summer treat?

These delicious altered paperclips hold your papers and even work as bookmarks. Attach a magnet to the back and use them to hold your fridge pics or display your little artist's latest masterpiece. Hi, this is Isabel and I'd love to show you how to make these cool clips in a few easy steps with Amazing Crafting Products.

My goal was to make something to celebrate the bright sunny days of summer and I wanted to cast something cute and bright since I plan to use these clips for EVERYTHING and I'll be looking at them a lot. These cute erasers came in a set of various desserts, but these two were my favorites. First, I coated the eraser with Mold Release (Vaseline also works) and set it aside while I prepared the Amazing Mold Putty, using equal parts of "A" & "B" and mixing them until I got an even yellow color. Be sure to use an amount that is about twice the size of the object you're molding. Once the mold putty was mixed, I pressed the eraser into the center. The eraser is 3 dimensional and I wanted the back to be flat so I pressed it only halfway into the mold putty.

Amazing Mold Putty sets in about 10 minutes so while it was setting I repeated the steps above for the second eraser. Once I had the 2 completed molds I mixed some Amazing Casting Resin using equal parts "A" & "B", then stirring slowly. The mixture will look milky at first, so keep stirring until it's clear. This happens pretty quickly, so keep an eye on it as you stir. Pour the resin into the molds. I made enough to fill both molds at the same time.

Once the pieces were cast I jazzed them up with some bright summer colors and added some details. I tried a few different ways to paint them, but found that for this purpose markers worked best. Of course, you can use acrylics and other types of paint to get the effect you want. The painted pieces were then lightly coated with clear enamel spray paint and left to dry for about 30 minutes.

While the enamel dried I worked on the background. Brightly colored card stock and a large paper punch made it quick and easy. I used Mod Podge to layer and seal the paper shapes before coating them with a thin layer of Amazing Clear Cast Resin. The Clear Cast resin will give the paper some thickness and make a nice base to support the cast pieces. Pour the Clear Cast resin onto the center of the paper background and spread it toward the edges with a wooden stick or a throw-away brush.

After an hour I placed my cast pieces on the coated paper and once again coated the entire thing in another layer of Amazing Clear Cast Resin, leaving it to dry overnight.

Attach the finished pieces onto super jumbo paper clips using a hot glue gun or 2 part epoxy. To use on your fridge just attach a small round magnet to the back of the resin piece and use the paper clip to hold your treasures. Ice cream treats and long lazy summer days just go together perfectly and these clips really capture the best part of the summer season. Make these clips personal by casting items that remind you of your favorite things.

What part of the summer season
will your altered clips celebrate???

I'd love to see what you create - please share your creations

Vintage Bookmark – Combining Textiles and Jeweled Treasures...

Hello Everyone! This is Isie and I'm really excited to show you how to make a fabric bookmark with beautiful resin embellishments using Amazing Crafting Products.

One of the things I enjoy the most about creating new things is that I get to rummage around my own storage boxes and give old things a whole new life. I knew I wanted my finished bookmark to have an aged look, so I started with some vintage jewelry pieces that I had stashed away.

I created molds of each piece using Amazing Mold Putty and then painted the details with Alumilite Metallic Powders using a small soft bristled brush. For these two pieces, I used Bronze, Gold and Copper. For detailed instructions on mixing Amazing Mold Putty, please CLICK HERE.

Once I finished painting, I filled the molds with Amazing Clear Cast Resin and let them dry overnight. The finished pieces looked great! The metallic powder completely bonded with the resin, so it left a clean mold that I can use for other projects with no worries about residue.

For the bookmark I used a Bronze and Aqua fabric, sewing it on three sides and leaving the top open so that it can also serve as a case to store your reading glasses. The center detail was attached to the fabric using a two part epoxy adhesive. For the small embellishment, I drilled small holes at the top and bottom of the piece and used gold tone jump rings to secure it to the bookmark. The final touch is a tassel made with Gold and Aqua yarn.

Enjoy your next book knowing you'll never lose your place or your glasses. This finished bookmark also makes a great gift for your favorite reader. Thanks for visiting! Isabel Villarreal

Domino Bookmarks with Amazing Mold Putty

The "domino" side of Sam's bookmark and the photo side of Will's

Today I bring you my last post as part of the 1st design team for Amazing Mold Putty. After a great deal of consideration--as I LOVE Amazing Mold Products--I decided not to reapply and give others the awesome opportunity to work for this team and experiment and craft with a truly exciting product!!  I will still on my own blog post crafts featuring the putty and resins from time to time but for my last post here I made Domino Bookmarks.
Some things you look at and think, that's gonna be simple to cast...and then it comes time to do it. Let me tell you, dominoes is not under the easy to cast project.
I thought I would simply press the dominoes into the putty,
let it set up and voila! domino molds.
WRONG. The air gets trapped in the little divots an you don't
get a perfect domino mold.
So, I concentrated on getting the perfect divots molded first. Next I built the rest
of the mold around the proper divots. If I found one of the bumps too imperfect,
I could cut it off of my mold with a craft knife an add a new one. The putty is very
forgiving of such treatment and will easily stick onto itself as you build up a mold.

Finally a near perfect mold...there are still imperfections in this
that can be sanded out...the hardest part the divots are awesome
and will be perfect for my project.

I fill the molds with the Amazing Casting Resin which is almost instant
gratification, setting up in 10 minutes!

I pulled the dominoes out of the mold and the imperfections
of the casts become very clear...but they are easy to remedy.
In the 12 domino you can even see where I cut off some of the
divots and added new ones!
A little sanding with some sandpaper produces quick effects making the
cast dominoes look almost ready to play with!
I colored the divots in using BIC Mark-its. In hind site I might
not do that again as when i dipped them into the UTEE it smeared
a bit. not something I would normally expect from an alcohol ink.
The nice thing about the resin pieces is that when I colored outside the lines
of the divot, it was easily sanded clean!
I printed on white card stock fun photos of Sam and Will that will fit on the
back of the dominoes. I dipped the dominoes into the hot UTEE to give
them that finished look and I dipped the photos as well giving them a glossy
finish. I did these separately as I was planning on sandwiching the ribbon
between the photo and the cast domino.

pretty shots of my new melting pot as the UTEE heats up!

I adhered the ribbon and the photo to the back of the domino with red line
tape--I wanted the ribbon sandwiched between the photo and the domino.
these are now ready to dangle in my books as I read about crafting and such.
For fun, I molded the double 3 for Sam's age and the double 6 for Will's.
Thank you for looking! I hope you enjoyed my project!! Thank you for letting me serve you on the Amazing Mold Putty Team! It has been an extreme pleasure!
