The Beauty of a #Cre8time Sunset... by Lyn Gill

Hi it's Lyn again – here today with a super fun and Oh so beautiful project for you. First let me tell you a little about my inspiration... I dream of warm Summer nights... LOL! I'm not a big fan of Winter, but I can at least dream of Summer Sunsets.

First of all I made a mold with Amazing Mold Rubber of a couple of small flat glass stones, then filled it with Amazing Clear Cast Resin and let it cure overnight. For more detailed mixing/preparation for Amazing Mold Rubber CLICK HERE and Amazing Clear Cast Resin, please CLICK HERE.

After I removed the resin pieces from the mold, I used an alcohol marker and drew an image on the back side of the resin casting. Be aware that your image will be reversed so draw accordingly. Be sure to let this part dry completely before proceeding.

I added a bit of color with alcohol markers, careful to avoid the black outline. Let this layer dry. Then add a coat of clear sealer to the image side, careful to use as few strokes as you can so as not to smear the image.

Ahhhh... now we're starting to feel the warmth! At this point I was inspired by some vintage artwork hanging in my home. Foil Etched Artwork which is something you should really see in person to get the full effect. So I decided to add some gold metallic leaf to the back side with another layer of sealer as a glue. Since the alcohol marker inks are transparent it allows the foil to show through to the front side of the resin.

It's really pretty at this point but the metallic leafing on the back will need to either be sealed or... placed into a bezel out of polymer clay (my specialty... LOL). I chose a large tree to complete the look and feel of a warm Texas summer sunset.

So What's Your Favorite Season?

I want to thank you all once again for joining me here today... Till Next Time!

#Cre8time Adventures with a Bird and Mod Podge... by Brenda Burfeind

Hello crafters! Brenda here again to show you what happens
when you experiment while playing with a few products...

I started out with some Creative Paperclay® and a wood tile.

Cutting around the wooden tile, I carfefully cut the Creative Paperclay® into a tile shape. Although it's an air dry clay, I baked it for about half and hour – turning it every 7 minutes of so to get a nice even bake. I use a small toaster oven to bake all my clay and never use it for anything else.

I still had a little bit of this gorgeous Decopatch paper left over from my April Frog Dog Studio Kit and decided to "muddy" it up a bit using some alcohol inks.

I also used some Alumilte Silver Metallic Powder and
Alumidust in Orange and created a spray mist.

Here is what the tile looks like after Mod-Podging the paper to it.

You can still see some of the original paper, but I did want just a hint of the details. Once I got the color I wanted I Mod-Podged the paper to the tile and sanded around the edges. Then I took my orange ink pad and ran that around the edges to give it almost a burnt look.

Now, I mixed up the Amazing Clear Cast Resin and painted it over my tile. Then I mixed a bit of the Alumilite Blue Dye into the remaining clear cast resin and puddled it around the top of my tile and "blew" it with my heat gun. It gave it some interesting detail. I sprinkled some orange glitter in the blue area just for bling.

I used up the rest of the Amazing Clear Cast Resin with the Alumilite Blue Dye to cast my bird of paradise {also from the April Frog Dog Studio kit}, that I created a mold of using my Amazing Mold Putty. Actually, if you missed that post, you can see it here.

After she was set up, I demolded her and glued her to my tile.

I added a pop tab to the back of my tile as my hanger and now I have a very unique tile to hand in my bathroom just because that color palette will work there very well.

I just love experimenting; sometimes it's a fail, but most mostly I have success. Now I love my tile and the uniqueness it holds. I doubt I'll ever be able to recreate this, but it was fun making it. Thank you for stopping by today and I hope I've inspired you to do some experimenting.

I hope you will join me over at my blog and until next time, happy experimenting!

CHARMING #Cre8time Fun with Bottle Caps...
a tutorial by Maria Soto

Hi, this is Maria and today I'm bringing you a simple project. My daughter asked me if I could make her some resin bottle cap charms – one for her and one for her boyfriend, with images from their favorite movie characters. I had thought about doing this before but always got distracted with other ideas.

First things first! I need to gather some images, print them to size, and cut them out. Now the bottle caps I used I purchased from the craft store, they were all silver color and had pre-drilled holes on them. I decided to use some alcohol inks to add a little bit of color to the bottle caps. I didn't want to completely paint the caps, but you can if you want to.

I used Ranger Glossy Accents to adhere the paper images inside the bottle caps. I also painted some on the front of the images as well to seal them.

Select the image you want to use, and reduce to size. You can use your photographs or something you drew... this is my daughter's favorite movie. The bottlecap will be added to a charm she's going to add to her key ring.

Once your image is cut, add some glue to the bottle cap. Then place the image inside and seal the image, then set it aside to dry.

Bottle cap is now ready for application of Amazing Clear Cast Resin. This one is a magnet, so there will be no beads added. I might add a tiny crystal once the resin is poured.

Here are the bottle caps – each colored with alcohol inks, and images glued and sealed with Ranger Glossy Accents. I've added bead to three of them. One as a pendant, the other three will become key chain charms.

The final step is adding the Amazing Clear Cast Resin. These are small bottle caps, so I mixed 1 tablespoon of each of parts "A" and "B". Mix the resin slowly and thoroughly then let it sit for a while to make sure there are no bubbles {CLICK HERE to view preparation}.

Amazing Clear Cast Resin is all ready for mixing and pouring.

Use the mixing stick to add the resin to the bottle caps – you don't want them to overflow. Let the resin set overnight to cure. Now all you have to do is add the keyring and chain and these are ready to go to their owners.

Captain America key chain charm - all done.

My youngest son is into animation and this is one of his original characters,
all ready to be added to his keyring.

All charms are done, these are going to be great gifts for my kids!

This was a very fun project, I think I might make some with
family photos to give away as gifts to my siblings.

Materials used:
  • Assorted bottle caps (purchased from craft store)
  • Amazing Clear Cast Resin
  • 2 mixing cups
  • 1 mixing stick
  • Alcohol inks - assorted colors
  • Headpins
  • Assorted beads
  • Flat nose pliers
  • Round nose pliers with wire cutter
  • Ranger Glossy Accents
  • Scissors
  • Key rings
  • Necklace/chain
How will you use customize your bottlecaps
using Amazing Clear Cast Resin?

My Favorite Things... AMAZING Inspiration from DeeDee Catron

Hiya Folks!! DeeDee here to give you a little bit of INSPIRATION!!

I have found through the past while of molding things that I keep going back to my vintage button molds. I can't get over the fact that I get to use my favorite bits over and over, even though they're vintage and almost one of a kind! You can find a post I did from a previous term on molding some buttons here, but today I want to share with you a different way to color them!

Here is a quick snip from the tutorial previously. The buttons have been molded with Amazing Mold Putty and colored with alcohol inks.

They've got a kind of fun pop art style with the bright color.
Which was perfect for their intended purpose that day!

But sometimes I want something a little more... a VINTAGE feeling! They are vintage buttons after all. That's when I crack out Alumilite Dyes. I mix in a super light amount of brown or black to give the Amazing Casting Resin a bit of an offwhite base. And then I douse the cured piece in Glimmer Glaze! It gives the cast button a sort of shimmery old metal feel.

I just so happened to use this one for the center of a shabby chic flower :)

Other supplies: Viva Las VegaStamps! Daisy stamp, UmWowStudio Make Note polaroid, Pink Paislee Hope Chest collection, Ranger archival ink, Distress stain, Distress ink, May Arts ribbons.

What are some of the ways you've
come to alter your cast pieces?

I'd love to hear about other things that work really well with the resin but might produce a different outcome! Thanks for stopping by today!  ~ DeeDee

Molding ANYTHING and EVERYTHING...
AMAZING Inspiration from Susan M. Brown

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend and all of the National Scrapbooking Day festivities. Susan here to bring you some creative inspiration today - because when I am creating with Amazing Crafting Products... the "SKY IS THE LIMIT"!

Even during my brief hiatus from this team, these products were a mainstay in my basic toolkit. I always keep a lookout for everyday things that can be transformed into something fun and creative.

When I get some creative inspiration...
I run with it - regardless of its origin.

Back on Valentine's Day I received a small gift bag of heart-shaped foil wrapped chocolates and a box of fun conversation hearts from my sweetie. Holy cow!!! I couldn't wait to break the hearts out of the box and turn them into a new piece of festive jewelry and the chocolate hearts would make perfect petals of a dimensional shamrock.

So with my chocolates, I arranged them into a shamrock shape; and the conversation hearts arranged into a circle to make a round pendant – both molded with Amazing Mold Putty and then cast in colored UTEE. Please click here to watch how I made the heart mold. For the heart pendant I brushed a few colors of Ranger alcohol inks into the mold which was transferred to the Ranger UTEE {ultra thick embossing enamel} when poured. For the shamrocks I added green mica pigment and emerald green color spray. And viola – two projects, each taking a little over an hour, both created from shaped candy. The shamrock adorns an altered glass block for seasonal holiday decor and I have a brand new necklace to wear for the spring season. You just gotta love this stuff!!

"Gumdrops of Love" Pendant

You won't believe what I did with my EASTER candy! I'd love to hear what fun things have inspired you to get creative with Amazing Crafting Products.

Pink "Joie de Vivre" Resin Banner Necklace

I love the elegance of flowing banners and retro-ness of old school tattoo banner designs.

This necklace was created using Pasta Alphabet (thanks for Michelle Frae Cummings for the tip!), polymer clay and Amazing Mold Putty and Amazing Casting Resin.

Supplies:

Polymer Clay
DaVinci Pasta Alphabet -- 12 oz (found at a gourmet grocery store)
Craft knife
Silver Rub-n-Buff
Ranger Alcohol inks
Jump rings
Pliers
Amazing Mold Putty
Amazing Casting Resin
Craft stick
Mixing cups

The First thing I did was condition the polymer clay by rolling it in my hands. The heat from your hands makes the clay more pliable. I then rolled out the clay on my non-stick craft pad and used a spare bottle as a rolling pin. I cut out a thin, long piece of clay and then curled it like a banner. After it was laid out in the banner shape; I dove tailed the ends. In this image I ended up trimming it more for the desired look. Don't forget to add the holes for hanging!

Next add the alphabet letters to spell out your saying. I chose Joie de Vivre...which means "joy of living" and perfectly describes life in south Louisiana!

Press the letters into the clay and bake the clay as instructed on the clay package.

Once clay is baked make sure the letters are still stuck in clay. If not, glue them in place. The next step is casting a mold so you want to make sure the letters are securely in place.

Next cast the mold following the directions on the Amazing Mold Putty box - OR - CLICK HERE for step-by-step instructions. A how to video is available HERE.

After about 20 minutes, pull the clay item out of the mold. One of mine broke, but that's ok, it still cast a good mold.

Mix your resin. I added a few drops of Alcohol ink. The first batch came out fine. When I tried for a darker shade (using more ink) my resin never cured. When adding alcohol inks to resin you have to be careful, if you add too much color, it will alter properties of resin and prevent it from curing. A better option is to color using ALUMILITE DYES, or powdered pigment colors such as perfect pearls.

Mixing resin with ink.

First batch with lighter ink added.

I came up with an alternate plan. I used a cotton swab and rubbed alcohol ink inside the mold before I poured in the resin. This worked pretty good. I just added a little more ink after it cured and embellished.

Top and bottom casts are from rubbing ink inside the mold.

Alcohol ink used.

For a finishing touch, accent the letters using a cotton swab and silver Rub-n-Buff.

TRICK-or-TREAT!!! Fun and Easy Halloween Decorations using Amazing Crafting Products

Happy Tuesday!!! Susan here with another "AMAZING" adventure with Amazing Mold Putty. As August comes to a close, the kids go back-to-school and Halloween is just around the corner. So today I have a TRICK and a TREAT to share.

I'm making a quick and easy Halloween "EEK" hanging wall decor. I saw one of these at the store among the holiday decorations and it was pretty cute, but not worth the price tag. AND this is the perfect opportunity to make it myself with Amazing Mold Putty and Amazing Casting Resin and things I already have around the house.

The TRICK...cast a small frame using Amazing Mold Putty and make three copies using Alumilite Dyes and Metallic Powders mixed into Amazing Casting Resin and turn them into an adorable Halloween wall decoration. The TREAT: at the end of this post there's a special coupon for Amazing Crafting Products...enjoy!!!

Supplies needed: a small frame, ribbons and black tulle, your choice of letters/embellishments and Amazing Crafting Products to mold, color and cast your frame trio.

Now for the FUN to BEGIN! I got out my Amazing Mold PuttyIf you would like to see a more in depth how-to of mixing Amazing Mold Putty please click here.

I begin by taking equal parts of Amazing Mold Putty parts "A" and "B" and gently mix together both parts, working quickly so that the colors are evenly mixed together with no striping. Then I press the Amazing Mold Putty around the frame gently pressing it around the item and sides. I let the mold sit and cure for about 15 minutes until it's no longer warm and then I'm ready to make my frames.

NOW FOR THE CASTING with the Quick Set Amazing Casting Resin:

Following the directions on package I measure out to equal parts of Part A and Part B to mix Amazing Casting Resin which sets up in approximately 10 minutes.

For this project I've used Alumilite Pearlescent Powders to dust molds as a mold release and also a mixture of Alumilite Black, Blue and Green Dye with the Amazing Casting Resin. This resulted in a gunmetal shimmery grey color.

I mixed thoroughly into Part "A" of Amazing Casting Resin, 2-3 drops of Alumilite Black Dye and one drop each of blue and green dye to make a rich black. The Alumilite dyes are so concentrated a little goes a long way. After mixing thoroughly, I stir in Part "B" and then pour into molds.

**A TIP** When you mix resin have extra molds handy to use up any leftover resin - so your mixed resin doesn't go to waste.

To spell out "EEK" and "BOO", you could use stickers, stamps or chipboard letters. During the day I'm a graphic artist, and I have so many fantastic fonts. I found the perfect free font here to use for this project.

I printed the words out on glossy cardstock, colored with alcohol inks and cut to fit the frame openings.

I tied the frames together with black tulle laced from the bottom of the last frame and worked up from the bottom. The leftover at the top was tied into a nice bow for hanging.

"E...E...K!!!" Halloween Wall Hanging
layered over some festive wired ribbon.
