A #Cre8time Angel in Disguise... AMAZING Inspiration by Michele Kosciolek

Hello friends! Michele back again with another way I've used casts of my butterfly – but this time just the wings...

For the project I am sharing today, I poured Amazing Casting Resin into just in the wings so they would be two separate pieces.

Here is a little reminder of the original mold.
CLICK HERE in case you missed it.

The wings bring my angel to life combined with some Tim Holtz Ideology bits, an Um Wow Studio chipboard word, Art Alchemy wax and Dina Wakley paint. The Art Alchemy wax and Distress glitter on the wings show the detail of the resin cast wings so well!

A little cheese cloth and thread make my angel in disguise pop! There are so many ways to use your molds, just a little thinking outside the box and viola!

What are you molding/casting
for use in mixed media?

Thanks for coming back to see what I have been up too!!
Until next time... Michele

#Cre8time Practice Makes Perfect... Amazing Clear Cast Tips and Tricks by Tracy Alden

Hello! Tracy here with another Amazing Casting Products inspiration post! I spend a lot of time working out ideas and testing out craft supplies to see what might be possible with future projects. Some don't work out, some are happy accidents and others a success. Here is a few of my tests using Amazing Clear Cast Resin!

Often I have to work through resin mishaps thanks to my impatience. I love working with Alumilite Dyes, but when I first started working with them sometimes I would add too much dye into my Amazing Clear Cast Resin. I learned quickly a little dye goes a long way!

Another lesson in patience was to remember to let each layer of resin to cure at least to a tacky set before adding in embellishments. In my resin pieces above not only is the dye-to-resin ratio a bit off but the glitter floated around in unpredictable manners because I was in a rush.

Now I when I mix up a small portion of Amazing Clear Cast Resin to be used for pouring into molds, I make sure to slowly stir to reduce air bubbles and let it sit for 10-20 minutes. By letting the resin rest before pouring, the resin will be thicker, holding embellishments in place. To create really dynamic effects – I will add some Alumilite Metallic Powder to a separate batch of Amazing Clear Cast to drop by toothpick and swirl carefully in untinted resin to create lovely organic movement.

If I pour a thin clear layer of Amazing Clear Cast Resin, let it cure to a tacky set, then add glitter, flowers and/or paper I can carefully trap them in place with a second layer of clear resin. The final layer of resin can be tinted with different Alumilite Dyes and/or Alumilite Metallic Powders to create dynamic eye popping contrast or subtle glows.

One of my most recent tests was using old eye shadow added to Amazing Clear Cast Resin and gently stirred with a toothpick. Dull old eye shadow was given a second life when it soaked up the resin and gave the resin a soft yet sparkling shimmer. If you use mica powders and artist pigments you can create a similar look. Just remember after adding and stirring the powders some air bubbles can form and use a craft heat gun to gently pop any air bubbles before the resin cures.

Amazing Clear Cast Resin can also be used to duplicate the look of enamel and antiquing on jewelry. The pendant on the left I felt the shape and general layout was nice it didn't highlight the details. I removed the small flower oval and rubbed on Clear Cast tinted with blue Alumilite Dye with my finger. I removed any excess with a baby wipe and added little pools of resin in the deeper recesses of the pendant and more rhinestones. My end result was the pendant on the right, looking like it came straight out of an exotic bazaar!

With your imagination, craft supplies and a little help from Amazing Clear Cast Resin a wild assortment of jewels and baubles can be made!

AMAZING #Cre8time TIPS... Secret to Getting Resin OFF Your Work Space by Tanya Ruffin

First off when using resin you should ALWAYS have your work space covered with a Teflon sheet {aka non-stick craft mat}. I have a large sheet that I ordered from Amazon to cover the bottom of an oven. Who says you have to buy the one that say CRAFT?

It never fails, in the middle of a resin project you get a spill on your Teflon sheet. Yes, when it dries it will peel right up... but what if you are using Amazing Clear Cast Resin and it takes 24 hours to set? I can't just avoid that section of my work space....

So you are using your Amazing Clear Cast Resin
or Amazing Casting Resin and Oops... a spill...

Tada!! Enter BABY OIL!

Simply squirt an ample amount on a paper towel and wipe it off.

If it is a huge spill, you may want to squirt some directly on the resin spill and let set about 5-10 minutes. This works for Part "A" and Part "B" individually, or after they are mixed. If you have some harder to clean areas or it is a glob, you can use your craft knife to scrape it up.

This is about 10 minutes later, it is completely free of an uncured resin spill.

It also works well on your hands!

Until Next Time... ~ Tanya

Second Time is a CHARM! Amazing Mold Rubber Tips and Tricks by Tracy Alden

Hello! Tracy here with a tips and tricks post using Amazing Crafting Products awesome Amazing Mold Rubber. I love testing out products and seeing what can be made but sometimes even the best plans can have interesting learning curves.

I have already shown you in the past you can make mold boxes to pour the Amazing Mold Rubber into out of coated cereal boxes (such as my snowflake mold box above). The Amazing Crafting Products Design Team has used plastic containers, lids, tape, and even foam to pour Amazing Mold Rubber into. All work beautifully and as long as the edges are sealed so no Amazing Mold Rubber will leak out of the mold.

Since the detail of the molding using Amazing Mold Rubber is stunning I wanted to try making more jewelry piece molds. I made three abstract pieces to create matching resin earrings and a bib necklace. Because of the odd shape of the originals I used a popcorn tin lid with foil and tape to fit around the original pieces. I glued the originals down to the tin, but here was my problem: I was in a hurry and I didn't check to see if the glue was dry completely before I poured the Amazing Mold Rubber!

Sadly this is how my mold came out. The little dents and swirls are wet glue that floated around in the Amazing Mold Rubber while it cured. One of the originals even floated to the top while it was curing, all because the glue was not dry. So lesson learned make sure to always let your adhesive dry completely before pouring the Amazing Mold Rubber to get a clean and high detailed mold!

Even though I had messed up with making the first mold there is no waste when using Amazing Mold Rubber! I cut up the mold with a pair of sharp scissors into little slivers and chunks. I place these in a jar to use in future molds. You can do the same for any cured drips or spills of Amazing Mold Rubber.

I glued my original carvings back to the bottom of the tin, waited for the glue to completely dry and poured a layer of Amazing Mold Rubber. I then carefully started to place the chunks and slivers from my other mold into the liquid Amazing Mold Rubber to add as filler. This can be done with any mold shape you want to create.

Sometimes when pouring the Amazing Mold Rubber I notice bubbles forming from the pouring process. This is nothing to worry about since the bubbles will gently float to the surface and pop. If you happen to notice any really large bubbles you can gently pop them with a tooth pick. Now some people have noticed the curing time for the Amazing Mold Rubber can vary. In low humidity environments it takes the silicone longer to cure. So since I live in a arid desert I put on a humidifier in the same room I am crafting in and the Amazing Mold Rubber cures quickly in just a few hours.

Here is the second pouring of my mold, clean, and clear of any dents and swirls! It might look somewhat like a deranged smiley face but I am more than happy with this high detail mold.

Another aspect of the cured Amazing Mold Rubber molds is that because it has such fine detail it is very easy to dust the molds with powders, glitters and fine inclusions for wonderful depth and shimmer. Here I am using a soft bristle brush to dust the inside of a mold with Alumilite Pearlescent Metallic Powder.

With this mold I poured a layer of resin and after it has cured for a few hours I can carefully rub on Alumilite Metallic Powders. Repeating this technique with multiple layers of resin you can create amazing effects.

Another AMAZING Mold Rubber Monday... Molding Tips and Tricks with Susan M. Brown {sbartist}

Welcome to another Mold Rubber Monday! Susan here to bring you some tips using Amazing Mold Rubber which is now available at Hobby Lobby Stores. I was visiting my family in central FL over the weekend and there was a brand new Hobby Lobby near my sisters' house in Winter Springs. I had to make sure to run in and go find all the Alumilite and Amazing Crafting Products

Hobby Lobby has Amazing Crafting Products located in two places; on the polymer clay aisle and also in the hobby department where you can find the Alumilite Dyes and other moldmaking kits/products.

The Amazing Mold Rubber was on the shelf and I couldn't resist taking a selfie... since my headband is on the box. YES! I shamelessly made a spectacle of myself and embarrassed my mom, too ;)

You can fill your Amazing Mold Putty molds with Amazing Mold Rubber to make custom stamps! This is the man in the moon mold I made for my Halloween Tag last month. I had a little Amazing Mold Rubber left over from a batch so I filled a bunch of molds I had sitting on the table.

PRESTO-CHANGO!!! I now have several stamps of my molded items. And my grapefruit slice... the Amazing Mold Rubber stamp detail is so much better than the stamp I made using Amazing Mold Putty pressed into my original mold.

**A TIP** Make sticky cleanup easy with Rubbing Alcohol in a mini spray bottle. This works with the Amazing Mold Rubber as well as resin, too!

I generally mix up the entire container of Amazing Mold Rubber, which makes things quick and easy. So I prepare many things to mold so the entire batch gets used. Amazing Mold Rubber can be poured in multiple layers and will seamlessly fuse together. So if you don't have enough to completely fill your mold box, you can come back later and add more later.

This is a tray containing five items that I started to mold about two months ago.

You want to be sure to tape or hot glue items down
so they don't float or flip over during curing.

I left a little breathing room around each item so that the Amazing Mold Rubber can fill in between each item and create defined mold shapes.

This is after first pour, which was a leftover portion of my batch. I let this cure and continued adding additional Amazing Mold Rubber to it three more times until all items were completely covered.

Four pours later... here is my completed mold. I had to add some tape to build up the depth of the tray so that I could pour and completely cover items by at least 1/8". The glass pieces are large and thick so I made it a little thicker for durability.

After a quick trim of some fringe that leaked under items... my mold is ready at last.

With a little preparation - and patience...
you can utilize every last drop of Amazing Mold Rubber
and have a collection of fabulous molds at the ready!

Now a teaser... Join me Wednesday, Nov. 13th over at the Viva Las VegaStamps! Blog to see what I'm doing with this mold of a rubber stamp. YES!! You can use Amazing Mold Rubber to create a mold from rubber stamps... and without the woes of molding using Amazing Mold Putty.

What are your creative plans using
the New Amazing Mold Rubber???

Five AMAZING Tips You Need for Molding and Casting! Molding/Casting Tips Vol. 1 by Lonnie Sexton

I have been collecting a list of molding and casting tips over the last few months while working on projects. It can get messy and generate waste at times. Below are some tips to saving time and money.

Stir Sticks

When mixing large volume casting I always use a mixing stick that can be mounted on an electric drill. Using red electrical tape and a small wooden dowel, you can make cheap reusable and disposable mixing sticks. After the casting hardens on the tape it creates a small paddle wheel. When using the power drill to stir castings, always mix at the slowest speed to avoid air bubbles in the cast.

Business Card Stock

I have a few thousand old business cards that have endless use in the shop. I use them to make small reusable funnels for some of the molds that require filling through the inlet. I also tape them to the rim of the container to create a pour spout off the rim.

Recycled business cards make a perfect pour spout or mini funnel.

Amazing Mold Rubber Scraps

There is really no such thing as waste when it comes to Amazing Mold Rubber. Save every bit of cured scraps. These can be used on future projects to fill in space. In the photos below you can see the cube shapes sticking out of the mold. They filled up 1/3 of the volume space so I used less new product to finish the mold.

Amazing Mold Putty Re-usable Mix Cups

In one month I used approximately 200 – mixing cups and realized something had to be done to mitigate the waste. I use 1 oz cups, 10 oz, ½ quart and quart cups depending on the size of project. The smaller mixing cups can be replaced by making reusable Amazing Mold Putty cups. Anything left over cures inside and pops out easily later.
