#Cre8time Treasures... Handmade Heart Keepsake by Bridget Cordero

One of the saddest days in our lives happened when my daughters father died. We were expecting it for some time but are never really prepared for loosing a loved one. We received his ashes in a black box they give you at the funeral parlor. We could not decide on an urn so we brought him home in that box.

My daughter decided to create a shrine in her room of her dad, it is filled with memories and pictures and just beautiful. After seeing this I wanted to give her something small that she could display anywhere and that's when I came up with this heart keepsake.

I had this little heart box made of plastic and decided this would work perfectly. I mixed up some Amazing Mold Rubber and made a mold of the heart {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}.

Once cured I removed it from the plastic container and popped out the heart. My mold was ready for some Amazing Clear Cast Resin and the embellishments I had chosen to put in it.

Figuring the best way to go about this was by using layers, I mixed up the a small amount of the Amazing Clear Cast Resin and poured it into the mold {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. I found a shamrock and placed that with a metal "love" charm into the resin. Once this cured for 12 hours, I carefully took some of Abbey's Dads ashes and laid them on that layer. I mixed up more Clear Cast and poured another layer in. I decided some blue glitter was needed and at this point added it. Once this cured I added one more layer of Clear Cast. I gave this two full days to cure before I popped it out of the mold.

I'm so happy with the way this came out and thankful that my daughter will have this beautiful keepsake for the rest of her life because of these amazing products.

#Cre8time Storage Solutions... Vintage Faux Leather Book Box by Lyn Gill

Hi everyone! Lyn here again with another bit of inspiration... a Book Box! I created this book box out of recycled card board with faux leather texture created from a brown paper sack and some resin details.

To see how I created the book box I have a video on my YouTube channel. CLICK HERE if you are interested in how I created this piece.

I created the molds using some Amazing Mold Putty and Amazing Mold Rubber then I molded the frame and book corners using Amazing Casting Resin. These are the perfect blanks to work some creative magic on. A little paint, patina and they're ready to use on what ever project you've got in mind.

A vintage printed image under a little bit of tinted
Amazing Clear Cast Resin completes the look! Wow so fun!

What will you use your
blanks to create?
Make it Amazing!

#Cre8time Transformations... DIY Memorial Bracelet by Tanya Ruffin

I found an adorable bracelet with space on the backside for adding photos and resin that I thought would make the perfect memory gift for a friend.

I measured out the circles and using CorelDraw software I drew circles and placed the images inside using the power clip feature. After printing with a laser printer I cut out the photos.

Then I simply filled the reservoirs with Amazing Clear Cast Resin and placed the photos inside. CLICK HERE to view resin mixing/preparation.

I covered the bracelet with a tupperware container to keep dust out while it is curing. I checked on it every few hours and blew on it to pop bubbles.

There ya go, an easy peasy memory bracelet!

My Mother's Treasures... A #Cre8time Keepsake by Aimée Wheaton

Hey all! I wanted to show you how I decided to really treasure my Mom's found sea glass treasures. Growing up on the shores of Lake Champlain in VT/NY I came to know all about sea glass – we would go treasure hunting when I was a kid for the perfect rocks, pretty old glass or pottery shards. My mom saved some of these collections and when I lost her I gained her treasures. These have been sitting in a jar on my shelf and I wanted to do more with them... this is what I came up with. :)

I kind of just jumped into the project but one thing I knew for sure is that I wanted to use Amazing Clear Cast Resin for this project to show all the amazing colors I used. I had a metal tin I purchased at Michael's that I was going to use for this project because I wanted to be able to hang it up on the wall.

I took out my acrylic paints and started painting bright fun colors directly to the tin with various different instruments. This was my base layer for extra pops of color.

I continued adding different bright shades of colors until I was satisfied.

Finished paint! Let it dry completely.
While it dried I gathered my little treasures.

I wanted the word "wander" in there too because we always wandered the whole beach in search of the perfect little trinkets. These are Scrabble tiles.

I then put a dab of glue on the letters and placed them where I wanted them.

After this was done I mixed up the Amazing Clear Cast Resin (CLICK HERE to see how to mix) and started pouring in a little bit on the bottom of the tin – I didn't want to completely cover everything. I wanted some pieces to stick out. I started putting in random pieces of sea glass and noticed some kind of got lost in it all. I then decided to make dots with the Clear Cast resin to show the difference in matte and gloss on the glass.

You can see the dots on the clear one near the purple wavy lines and the brown glass at the top of "wander". I decided to coat the top of the letters as well and paint with more acrylic the edges of the letters, and glass as well as the side of the tin. I threw in some silver micro-beads for some extra shimmer as well and some resin baubles and beads I had.

It really looks like it's sitting in a small tidepool of water
which is exactly what I was hoping for!!

I added some lace ribbon to the hole and now I can hang it up! :)

It was a fun project with a lot of meaning and memories for me!!

Dragonflies Embellish my #Cre8time Garden...
by Brenda Burfeind

Happy Spring! Brenda here from Creativity is a State of Mind. I've been wanting to decorate for Spring and today is some inspiration for just that. I love to play with my Amazing Casting Products. I find that you are not limited to using a mold solely for that mold's purpose.

What I mean is... play, play, play!
Think outside the box. Just because a mold has a
certain shape doesn't mean you need to use it as is.

For instance, recently I made my granddaughter an "art" holding frame. I had purchased these awesome fan blades made out of wood. I even added one of my previous resin pieces cast using one of my Amazing Mold Rubber molds – the princess crown embellishment {you can view that post HERE}.

When I craft I am all over the place. While I'm creating one project, I'm already thinking of something else to do...

http://www.lucydesignsonline.com/2011/03/dragonflies-part-2.html

With that being said, I was thinking of dragonflies. I've seen Pinterest features of dragonflies made out of ceiling fan blades and spindles. While they are super cute – I don't have any fan blades nor do I have large space to hang these beautiful pieces.

There I was already thinking ahead –
Well this is what I created...

Wooden fan blades cut in half molded with Amazing Mold Putty

I filled each with Alumilite Violet Dye mixed with Amazing
Casting Resin

Love how the Amazing Mold Putty picked up the woodgrain detail. When your resin isn't cured all the way yet and it's still pliable, you can cut it with scissors or a blade.

I just cut each section in half again and
glued them to a dowel that I had painted.

I added some plastic beads to make a head and some wire to give it some bling. I also glued beads on the body and wings to make it fun and sparkly. Now I have some miniature dragonflies and I plan on making a bunch of these to hang on my fence around my deck.

I hope I've inspired you to find a new use for
a mold and have fun creating (playing).

What would you create with an existing mold?

Until next time, Happy Spring ~ Brenda

Hark the #Cre8time Angels Sing... by Maria Soto #moldputtymadness

Hi there! Maria here and today I want to share with you a way to fix your molds. See I still have my nativity out... I know it's March and it should have been put away back in January, but well it's still out on my glass table. As I looked at the angel I noticed her wings, the folds on her dress, her face and hair, well there was so much texture on this piece that I had to take out my Amazing Mold Putty!

It was fun looking at this piece and noticing all the different molds I could create with this one statute. Now one thing I noticed is that several of the areas I wanted to mold would give me flat molds, which I could use as stamps – but I also wanted to cast parts of this angel. After making all these molds, I remembered one fun fact about this amazing product; it will adhere to itself even after the molds are set. This is something I tend to forget sometimes, I usually make molds that don't required a border but several of these did. Now keep in mind this product sets pretty fast so I suggest that based on the size of your mold, you add your border a little bit at a time.

I actually used two of my nativity statutes –
the angel and one of the three wise men.

First, take equal amounts of parts "A" and "B" of the Amazing Mold Putty. I like to mix each part separately for a little while, then mix both together until you no longer see any white {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. Make sure you have the item you are creating your mold from ready because this product does set pretty fast and you don't want to waste any.

Here you can see my angel – I decided to make a mold of the wings. This is a pretty big piece so the wings are going to be pretty big, so I wanted to make the mold in one piece.

Here is the back of the angel covered with Amazing Mold Putty. I covered the wings completely. It took about 10 minutes for the putty to set, then I carefully removed the mold off the wings.

Here are some close ups of the new mold. You can see the edges of the mold are not very even. If I try adding resin to the mold as it is here, the resin will run off and I will not have a nice resin piece.

I had to trim parts of the wing to make sure I could
add a nice smooth border to fix my mold.

I took small amounts of the Amazing Mold Putty, mixed them together and rolled it out so that I could add a border on the wings mold and then this mold will be ready to cast resin pieces without having resin spillage.

Here you can see how I added the border. I suggest working with small amounts at a time because once you add the border, you need to blend the seams and shape the border so that you have no leaks between the seams. Since this product sets pretty fast {and the heat from your hands makes it go faster}, you don't want to mix too much and have it go to waste from hardening before you have finished applying.

Here you can see the mold with it's new border. Because of the shape of this mold, the border of the wings I added had to be different heights, to make sure that when I add resin the entire mold is level.

Here you can see how I blended the seams. This step is very important, if you don't blend the seams your resin can spill or seep out. In the event you missed a few areas, it's OK – you can go back and add a little bit more Amazing Mold Putty to seal any leaks.
**A TIP** To check for any leaks on your molds – fill them up with water. Just to make sure there are no leaks at all. If you feel any wetness on the outside, you will end up with resin spilling out and a mess on your hands. Dry the mold completely and add more mold putty to fill any gaps.

I like making molds that don't require all this extra work, but I find this process very creative. Sometimes you to make changes to your molds – it just requires a little bit more work, and this way you can end up with something more interesting and create a one-of-a-kind mold.

For this mold I just wanted to add a nice border so I can cast a set of wings. I sure am looking forwards to making a casting of broken wings too.

Here are a few of the castings I made from this mold. Using Amazing Casting Resin I was able to cast the wings in one piece and also in parts. I have several more statutes that can give me some very interesting molds. I can't wait to create more fun pieces with all these castings. It sure was fun to create and fix this new mold!

Depending on the amount of resin you pour into the mold, you can get different results. Here you can see the thickness of each piece. You can use them in many different ways, my favorite is the one that shows the full wings, it's very thin and light weight.

I used the titanium white as a base coat before I add other colors. I also used some of the Alumilite Bronze and Silver Metallic Powders at the end. I think I'm going to keep playing with this set of wings to distress them up a bit more.

I hope this post inspires you to go ahead and try and make some molds like I did here and share with us how you fixed or changed them to come up with your very own unique mold. What do you have around your home that would make some great pieces to use in your art?
