#Cre8time Mixed Media with a TWIST of RESIN...
by Guest Designer Kimberly N.

Greetings! Today we welcome back Amazing Guest Creative... Kimberly N. – a mixed-media artist who loves vintage, Steampunkery and all things distressed. Today she is sharing some mixed media inspiration using Amazing Casting Products!

This mixed media project uses a 12" x 12" canvas that's been stamped, sprayed and painted – then accented with a smaller canvas {turned over creating a frame}, cast resin pieces and other chunky embellishments. Follow along as I point out the details...

I poured leftover Amazing Casting Resin onto waxed paper and let it set up some. While is was still pliable... I cut into strips with my scissors then I rolled them into wave shapes. I painted them with Tattered Angels High Impact Black Paint so the edges would stand out from my canvas.

You can see I made another heart casting {from the same mold I created heart pendant} to add to my canvas. With the leftover Amazing Casting Resin, I kept stirring until it was almost ready to cure completely... then I poured it out to to waxed paper to get this crazy bumpy rustic piece. I mounted this on the top of the small canvas as an accent piece.

Behind the butterfly is Amazing Casting Resin {with some Finnabair chunky stuff mixed in} poured onto waxed paper that I pulled up and ruffled. When fully cured, I dripped some Espresso Bean Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam onto them .

I made the head using Amazing Mold Putty and an angel wall decoration. I made the large chunky gear from a mold I made using the gears from the tape gun! The other gears are timeouts cut outs with splats of resin then painted with Tattered Angels Mallard Glimmer Mist, Tattered Angels Leather Glimmer Mist and Faber-Castell Gelatos. I stamped the back ground using a scripted word stamp and finished off the heart with a Prima key.

How do you add amazing texture
and dimension to your mixed media?

Hi my name is Kimberly N. – I am married to my junior high school sweetheart and I have three amazing boys, two beautiful daughters in-laws, one grandson and two granddaughters. I started crafting about 9 years ago... I started out with a Cricut then expanded from there. I enjoy altering the unexpected and I LOVE playing with mixed-media art. My creative style can best be described as being vintage-distress, as I love combining vintage and Steampunk.

Come Fly Away with some Cauliflower Clouds... Amazing Canvas Trio by DeeDee Catron

Hi Folks!! DeeDee here today for your MOLD RUBBER MONDAY!

I slightly touched on this idea/technique in an inspiration post a while back and after consideration decided it'd make a great LARGER piece with instructional video!

So today I've got a "Molded Cauliflower" technique for you to see. Here's a video showcasing the prep, mold, and casting of Cauliflower bits that I use as clouds on a 3 piece canvas. Gather your brand new Amazing Mold Rubber, measuring cups, stir sticks and Amazing Casting Resin and get to watching :

I used these beautiful resin clouds on a canvas set for our living room --
sort of a final homage to the turning seasons.

The canvas is full of inks, mists and paints (Tattered Angels Glimmer and Glaze, Ranger Distress Stain and Ink, Ranger Archival, Gesso, Sakura of America Micron), UmWowStudio products (Circle confetti mask, Light bulb and ray mask, Sunflower chip, Daisy chip, Swallow chip, Bird in grass chip, Bee Flair), Viva Las VegaStamps! (Moon Circle, Writing Background, Coffee Stain, Line of Chevrons), Prima (Leaves and Gray rose), Gauche Alchemy (Washi Tape), and some other random bits like seed beads, eBeads, glitter, twine and adhesive.

I sincerely adore the DEPTH these babies have!

Have you thought about molding food or finding inspiration in other non conventional items?? What might you mold and turn into something else? IE Cauliflower into clouds? With the new Mold Rubber you can be as creative as you want!

My Favorite Things... AMAZING Inspiration from DeeDee Catron

Hiya Folks!! DeeDee here to give you a little bit of INSPIRATION!!

I have found through the past while of molding things that I keep going back to my vintage button molds. I can't get over the fact that I get to use my favorite bits over and over, even though they're vintage and almost one of a kind! You can find a post I did from a previous term on molding some buttons here, but today I want to share with you a different way to color them!

Here is a quick snip from the tutorial previously. The buttons have been molded with Amazing Mold Putty and colored with alcohol inks.

They've got a kind of fun pop art style with the bright color.
Which was perfect for their intended purpose that day!

But sometimes I want something a little more... a VINTAGE feeling! They are vintage buttons after all. That's when I crack out Alumilite Dyes. I mix in a super light amount of brown or black to give the Amazing Casting Resin a bit of an offwhite base. And then I douse the cured piece in Glimmer Glaze! It gives the cast button a sort of shimmery old metal feel.

I just so happened to use this one for the center of a shabby chic flower :)

Other supplies: Viva Las VegaStamps! Daisy stamp, UmWowStudio Make Note polaroid, Pink Paislee Hope Chest collection, Ranger archival ink, Distress stain, Distress ink, May Arts ribbons.

What are some of the ways you've
come to alter your cast pieces?

I'd love to hear about other things that work really well with the resin but might produce a different outcome! Thanks for stopping by today!  ~ DeeDee

One Last Post...

Hello Mold lovers!!

I just have one last final sneak peek to show you... I really can't keep this to myself, but can't show you the whole thing as it's being submitted for publication to a magazine call.

However.. I can show you an up close bit of the Amazing Mold Putty part!

This is the bottom corner of a 12x12 layout I did. It features the Quick Cast resin which has been poured in just white and altered with glimmer glaze by Tattered Angels.

I've had a great year with you and am glad I've had the opportunity to work with such a FABULOUS product... I won't be reapplying for the team, but I really hope you'll stretch your imagination when it comes to using the resin and putty! And don't forget it's alterable when it's cured! I've had fun trying to show you new things, altering molds, and round pourings. Dying and double pours. It really has been a blast! ♥

Don't forget.. use coupon code AMP20 to get 20% off your order.. this coupon expires on the 30th this month, so don't hesitate any longer!

Feed Your Soul collage

I recently had the enormous pleasure of taking a class from one miss Anna Debrowska, a wonderful artist from Poland.

in the class I learned a technique of collaging mixed found objects and making them appear as though they belong together.

of course once I was home I had to go do a bit of playing around with some of my most favorite products and here is the result:

a couple of journal pages. I of course had to pull out a couple of my absolute favorite amazing molds and fill them with the amazing casting resin. Insert my giant button mold and my cameo mold, both created by mixing even parts of the amazing mold putty and forming it around some vintage pieces.

Here you can see the giant button and cameo easily... after they had hardened I glued them in their proper places and covered them in tattered angels glimmer mist. The final step was to dry brush them with some gesso to bring out all their beautiful details.
