A Little #Cre8time for Teachers... by Aimée Wheaton

"The best teachers teach from the heart and not from the book."

This is the quote that inspired this little piece that I will be bringing to the classroom. I found these two adorable pencils at school on the ground and I just had to do something with them. I plan on making more items with them because they're so much fun!

I used our Amazing Mold Rubber to cast these babies because I wanted to get all the details in them. It did an amazing job and I have 2 perfect pencils!! I cast them with our Amazing Casting Resin because I wanted them white.

This is what I ended up with, of course I had to glitter them up! This would make such a cute teacher gift. It's on a wooden coaster and it was quick and easy to make. I love the little details!

It's hard to see but there is the word 'teacher' in silver stickers down the side :)

Hope you enjoyed this quick teacher project!!

Memories of #Cre8time School Days... Mixed Media Shadowbox by Aimée Wheaton

Lots of trinkets, papers, doo-dads that I've collected for years made their way into this little shadow box. It reminded me of a little old-fashioned school house. That was the inspiration for this little project. Basic collage techniques were used as the base for this project, I didn't get photos of each step because I got so into the project and forgot to take photos along the way.

You can see it was just a basic white box, and I wasted no time collaging elements in it using Golden Gel Medium paste. I trimmed out my vintage photo of a boy with a book and papers and pasted and sealed it all down on the base of the box. While the glue was still wet, I threw in some micro beads and glitter.

Another view. I let it dry for a few hours and
worked on other elements for the design.

I used this gesso on this old Monopoly game hotel and distressed it a bit. I cut out letters from my vintage book page talking about school and cut up a few sentences.

I glued down the words to the house with Golden Gel Medium.

I had a small glass bottle that I filled with small beads, glitter and the sentences I cut up for some interest. I wasn't sure if it all would be used – the hardest part was finding places for all the little trinkets I wanted to use and how to use them.

Trinkets...

I then took my red StazOn ink and distressed the box,
thinking "little red school house".

Did the same on the back and front.

I added some little stamp details along the edge of the box too. I then collaged some gorgeous rice paper into the top of the box as well as the bottom.

I found a cast off heart and distressed it with the same ink and glued it to the top.

I wasn't sure how well the box was sealed so I went around the seams with the thick gesso all over the box just to make sure it was resin-ready.

While the gesso was wet, I etched roof tiles in with a sharp tool.

It's resin ready!!!

For this project I'm using Amazing Clear Cast Resin. I mixed it all up and poured it into the base. Just mix equal amounts of Part "A" and Part "B" and you're good to go!

Pour slowly and let the resin flow around and fill in areas naturally.

With a half a drop of Alumilite blue dye I swirled it into certain areas of the wet resin for more interest. It worked out well!! Look how cool it looks!!

The blue added a lot!

I glued on the glasses to the top and added a bit
of the blue resin using the same popsicle stick.

Just an extra detail.

I added a bit of purple PearlX powder to the heart and grabbed some blue resin again and coated the top of the heart with the same stick as well.

Here are some detail shots...

I did end up using this little bottle. :)

I really enjoyed making the project
and hope you like how it turned out!

Ta-Da!!

What an AMAZING Ice Storm! Commemorative Plaque Tutorial by Brenda Lee Burfeind

Good day all, Brenda here again with an Amazing photo plaque. Last April we had an ice storm that lasted 6 days. We were without power, heat and water for 4 of those days and it was COLD. We lost quite a few limbs from a lot of our trees and we even lost half of one tree. The entire town looked like a war zone. During the storm though there was some beauty to it as you will see in a moment. I took a bunch of pictures of all the stages of the storm and found this one to be a beautiful shot.

Somehow I wanted to remember this in a way that the picture just doesn't wind up in a photo album. Eventually I will add it to my scrapbook, but for now I wanted a reminder of how "cold" it was while I'm baking the heat right now.

As I said before, we lost a bunch of limbs and when most of the ice was gone, hubby started to cut up those limbs and we will use them for firewood eventually. While he was sawing his heart out, an idea popped into my head and asked if he would please cut up a few "slabs" of the limbs.

So let's get started:

I "painted" a mixture of the Amazing Casting Resin onto the slab of wood to seal it and to add a bit of "white". After that dried which only took about 5 minutes I "painted" another layer of the Amazing Clear Cast Resin over the top of that.

I have a pair of "twig" barrettes that I knew I could use to make a mold with the Amazing Mold Putty. Hubby suggested I use real ones from the tree, but these worked just fine.

I printed out the picture tore the edges and sealed it to my plaque with Amazing Clear Cast Resin. In my stash of "stuff" as I like to call it - I found these crystal like looking things and sprinkled them over the Amazing Clear Cast Resin and let it dry completely about 24 hours. Believe me, I have it all, just ask hubby. He recently told me we needed to add onto the house just to accommodate my crafting obsession - okay by me :)

Once that dried (another 24 hours) I dabbed a bit of Metallic White Acrylic paint over the "crystals" and added the twigs that I had bent slightly and added another layer of Amazing Clear Cast Resin.

This now has 3 layers of Amazing Clear Cast Resin.

I add some "snow" with my white puffy paint around the edges and on the twig and here is my finished masterpiece.

All I need to do now is add a picture hanger to the back,
and I will hang it next to the window facing this lovely tree.

What event and items would you use to make
a commemorative plaque with Amazing Crafting Products?

Medieval Barter - School Project

Medieval Barter - School Project

Well I found out how great Amazing Mold Putty is for school projects this past week.
And will be using it again this weekend for another one.
I find so many uses that I never thought of before especially now that I have their silver powder.

My son was studying medieval times in his 6th grade Social Studies class.
They had to come up with 3 items to barter with and he had good ideas but was having trouble putting them into place such as how to make the items and such.
He even picked up premade items and the whole assignment was they had to be handmade.
I emailed asking if we could use molds and resin and she said that even though resin may have not been during that time she is sure they made molds out of soap and candles so we went to work.

Since it was his project I had him help out as much as possible.

He decided on two keys and a horse shoe.
I had two keys from my scrapbook stuff so I decided he could make a mold of them even though I had done it myself before. I wanted to show him how to do it all himself and how easy it was. And I bought a cheap set of "cowboy" ornaments that had a mini horseshoe that we used for the third item/mold.

Supplies:
Amazing Mold Putty
1. He mixed equal amounts of the yellow with the white putty and then pressed the shapes into them.
2. Then let the molds sit for about 30 minutes and dusted the molds with silver metallic allumilite powder. He used a really cheap paint brush to do that.
(I thought he did a pretty good job!)

Amazing Casting Resin
This part I mixed for him since my first time I was sloppy and made messes on surfaces that are messed up forever. Totally my fault.
I mixed equal parts of A and B.
But first I took part A and put some of the metallic powder and mixed it in so the resin would also be metallic colored throughout it and mixed well, then poured both parts into a paper cup.
After that I showed him how to as neatly as possible pour into the actual molds.
Then we waited a while since we had a mess to clean and a few other things to do.

Here is a picture of the original horseshoe with the new one.
They look VERY close, don't they?
The left one was the one made with the mold and the right one was the original!

This weekend we plan on making some Disney themed molds after I find all my Disney trinkets for his next project!

Thanks for visiting!

Also the main product page has a video that also shows you how to use the product!
