Celebrating the 4th with AMAZING "Patriotic" Inspiration... by Brenda Lee Burfeind

Good day, Brenda here again. I hope you all have a wonderful and safe 4th of July. I'm so excited to be here today because the 4th of July is my all time favorite holiday for a few of reasons in no particular order.

1. I love Fireworks (and where we live we can blow them off from the 26th of June through the 7th of July)!

2. I love my husband and he was born on the 4th of July... what a lucky guy!

3. I love Patriotic Jewelry, and I own a ton of it!

So what better way to celebrate the 4th of July

and the good ole USA than with a new pin.

I love the look of the domino, but frankly I find them a bit heavy. So... Amazing Crafting Products to the rescue! I molded a domino with Amazing Mold Putty, then casted using Amazing Casting Resin, and created this:

The resin is so light weight and is a perfect canvas for Sharpies... yes, did you know you can write on your resin pieces with Sharpies? Yup, you sure can! I stamped the firework image for the background first with a Stazon inkpad which dries instantly. I also filled in color with my sharpies and painted the USA directly over that and again using my black sharpie I outlined that.

Fondant Rope Molding with Amazing Mold Putty... by Michelle Galpern

Believe it or not these pillows are made out of cake! I love making cakes that everyone thinks are a part of the party decorations! These cakes are hand carved and covered with edible fondant and adorned with more fondant accents created with Amazing Mold Putty silicone press molds for the decorations. I found a beautiful old piece of molding from an antique dealer to create the rope mold for this cake. 

The rope mold is one of my favorites and so versatile as a border. It especially works with a pillow shape and it will cover your seams just as if you were sewing. Roll out your fondant into long snakes and press firmly into the mold. You may have to powder the mold with corn starch or powdered sugar if it’s a hot and humid day for a better release. The wonderful thing about a rope mold is your ends line up seamlessly and you put one right after another. Just “glue” your rope onto your edges with royal icing. It dries quickly and firmly for the heavy piece. 

For the tassels I just roll out a fat snake and press the top into the rope mold to give some shape over the tassel. I cut and score fine lines with my dedicated food safe knife to create individual strings. Then I spread the ends to make it look like it has movement. I'll glue the tassels at the corners and the top rope to finish off the fabric effect.

The last step is to paint the rope with edible gold color mixed with vodka or clear vanilla. And there you have it!

Paper Pendants... AMAZING Inspiration by Isabel Villarreal

I'm sure that at some point while you're cleaning or organizing your bookshelf you have come across an old tattered book and you've asked yourself "Self, what can I do with this old book?" Well, I'm here to tell you don't throw it - give it a new life! With a little imagination and a little help from Amazing Crafting Products, you can turn old pages into a new story. This month I'm focusing on my favorite author and poet:  Edgar Allan Poe. I have an old yellowed copy of a story collection that has pages falling away from the binding, so I decided to take those pages and turn them into a paper pendant.

I found these great vintage movie posters on the web and just printed them out in a small size and attached them to card stock. Book pages were then cut to size and applied to the back of the images using Mod Podge. The back of each pendant is made of 7 layered "pages" from the corresponding story title, making both the front and back of the pendant visual focal points. Being that the pendants are paper, I had to find a way to protect them so that they could actually be used as jewelry. To seal the entire pendant for gloss and protection it was Amazing Clear Cast Resin to the rescue! Sterling wire provided the final touch.

I'm always looking for creative ways to use household items and I hate to throw out books, so I'm really excited to try this out with other favorites.
