Have a Drink?? You can Pour Yourself #Cre8time AMAZING Bangles with Rachel Whetzel

Hello, AMAZING peeps!! It's Rachel Whetzel... and I just got done making myself some really COOL bangle bracelets!! I have loved the posts here on the blog from other Creative Team Members sharing their bracelet ideas... (more here) but many of them already have a piece to mold, and I did not. The other day it hit me. I don't NEED an original!! All I needed was the round shape!! So I got started!

Here's what you'll need to make a bracelet of your own:

Here is a bit of my twine and string collection.

To create my mold, I found a cup that had sides that went straight up and down, and didn't get smaller at the bottom. Then I got to work getting the Amazing Mold Putty ready for the rim of the cup. (Please CLICK HERE for more detailed instructions on how to mix Amazing Mold Putty.) I formed the putty into a ball.

Next, I flattened the ball, and then I started a hole in the center of the ball, to keep from wasting putty in the center of the cup area.

When my ring was the right size, I pressed the edge of the cup into it, and flipped the piece over to press the edges of the mold around the glass on both sides of the rim.

Then I turned the piece back over, and allowed it to cure.

Thankfully, I thought to use some cardboard to catch the spills, because pouring into those skinny molds was HARD!! (One of my molds didn't work, so I only ended up making two bracelets for now.) Click HERE for directions on Mixing Amazing Casting Resin.

The cup I used was just a little too large for my wrists, so before the Amazing Casting Resin completely set, I cut out a section, and put holes into the ends, so that I could tie them together. Then I got busy wrapping the string around the piece!!

I love the way they turned out!!
I can't wait to create a whole arm full of them to wear!

Resin Imitates Rock! AMAZING Mold Rubber Inspiration by Isabel Villarreal

When I was given an opportunity to use Amazing Mold Rubber, the newest member of the Amazing Crafting Products family, I was so excited! I had heard that Amazing Mold Rubber made it possible to get an incredible amount of detail and I was NOT disappointed. My first thought was that with a little experimentation, I could do some really cool stuff with something so highly detailed. I immediately used it to mold a sterling pendant that I could turn into a brooch resembling carved Malachite Agate.

After molding the pendant, it was time to sit down and play with color, I decided that the first thing I had to do was throw out everything I already knew and start from scratch. Now, I know you're supposed to follow manufacturer's instructions, but for this experiment I decided to have fun and do what I wanted instead of what I was told this time around (sorry, mom).

Instead of adding Alumilite Green Dye to part "A" and then adding part "B"of Amazing Casting Resin, I put all three parts together in a cup and swirled them around slowly instead of mixing them. This left undissolved streaks of Dark Green in the resin. Then I added a drop of Alumilite White Dye and poured into molds without mixing in the White. If you let the White sit on the surface for a couple of seconds, it will start to separate and swirl on its own as you pour. Swirls of White, Green and Dark Green could be seen as the resin was curing.

Using the same technique, I tried several other colors and was perfectly pleased with every one of them. With a little polishing around the edges, my brooch will look like carved stone.

This is my resin version of Malachite Agate...

Why PURPLE and LIME are the new Orange and Black! AMAZING Inspiration from Brenda Lee Burfeind

Good day all. Brenda with Creativity is a State of Mind here again to share a quick and simple pendant. With Halloween fast approaching, I thought I would create a simple pendant using the Amazing Mold Putty, the Amazing Clear Cast Resin, Amazing Casting Resin and of course the brand new Alumilite dyes. I just love, love, love the colors. Purple and green go very well together!

I have an existing domino mold in Amazing Mold Putty from my Patriotic 4th of July pin I made {CLICK HERE to jump to this project}. My domino mold has come in handy for this festive jewelry project, too! The domino was made using the Amazing Clear Cast Resin with the Fluorescent {Flo} Green Dye.

I love the neon effect!

I also used a sharpie to add a bit of doodling to the domino, just because. The skull was cast from one of those Halloween rings and I molded it using the Alumilite Violet Dye. I added some rhinestones in for the skulls eyes. I just love how the colors pick up so well. I still think the purple is my favorite, but I love the neon green with the Amazing Clear Cast Resin. Say goodbye to the traditional orange and black... vibrant PURPLE and LIME are IN!

I had some of the purple resin left over and I never let anything go to waste, so I dripped "drops" onto wax paper and made some tiny circles. I added rhinestones to them for the "dots" of the domino and then I sealed the entire piece with some more of the clear cast resin and viola... a Halloween pendant is born!

I hope I've inspired you to use some of the new dyes and either the Amazing Casting Resin or Amazing Clear Cast Resin and create some of your own Halloween jewelry. thanks for joining me today. If you would like to see more of my creations, please hop over to Creativity is a State of Mind. Until next time, have a great day! ~ Brenda Lee Burfeind

EYES are WATCHING! DIY Googly Eye Light Switch Plate Cover by Michelle Frae Cummings

Hi everyone! Michelle here with another great tutorial that you can use for Halloween or just for fun!

Products used:

Mix ample, but equal amounts of the the Amazing Mold Putty until no white streaks appear. Flatten out to a rectangle shape and a add a small ball of putty in the center for where the plates holes are. Press plate in place, pushing the extra putty out through the holes. Let set about 10 minutes. Remove plate and patch up any rough spots with extra mixed putty (this also adds textures for the resin colors). Trim where needed and stick your wire into the putty for the screws. You'll want to build up those holes with a little extra putty as shown. Add some coils of putty to the walls of the mold and press in place with the popsicle stick provided from the resin mix. Let harden completely before adding resin.

Using the measuring cups and popsicle stick provided, mix thoroughly 1 Tablespoon each of parts "A" and "B" of the Amazing Casting Resin and 5 drops of the Alumilite Fluorescent Orange Dye. Pour into the mold. Most of the resin will spill into the sides and only cover parts of the plate. This is OK.

Let the first color set while you mix the next color.

For the green, mix thoroughly 1 dram (alternate measurement on measuring cups provided with resin) each of parts "A" and "B" of the Amazing Casting Resin and 3 drops of Alumilite Fluorescent Green Dye.

Carefully pour, drip by drip onto the areas not covered by the orange resin.

Quickly place your googly eyes onto the tacky resin before it cures. I put a little bit of adhesive on the end of a wooden skewer to use as a googly-eye-picker-upper. :)

Next mix thoroughly 2 Tablespoons each parts "A" and "B" of Amazing Clear Cast Resin and fill in the mold, making sure to cover every googly eye. Let this set at least 8 hours in a undisturbed spot. Remove from mold and trim off any sharp points.

Find a place in your house where it can be used often enjoyed!

Bird Stamps, Bicycle Chains and Watercolor Paintings... Taking a New SPIN on Mixed Media
with Sandra Strait

Good Morning... it's Sandra! What do postage stamps with birds, bicycle chains and watercolor paintings have in common? Nothing – unless you have some Amazing Mold Putty and Amazing Clear Cast Resin!

While shopping at a local thrift store I found a small 2x2 inch frame made from bicycle chain. I snapped it up. Wasn't sure what I'd do with it, but I knew I'd do something!

On a seemingly unrelated note, I had a watercolor painting of roses that I had done a while back. I wasn't really happy with it, but I knew I'd do something with it some day.

On another seemingly unrelated subject, I received a package from Hong Kong with cool postage stamps. Yup. Knew I'd find some way to use them.

When Amazing Crafting Products came out with their new fluorescent dyes, I decided that I wanted a fluorescent green bicycle chain frame, and everything fell into place.

Supplies:

  • Amazing Mold Putty
  • Amazing Clear Cast Resin
  • Alumilite Dye - Fluorescent (Flo) Green
  • Watercolor Painting on Arches watercolor board
  • Re-Inkers-Palette Metallic Violet Varnish; Distress Dried Marigold & Picked Raspberry
  • E6000 glue
  • 12x12 7Dots Scrapbook paper
  • 12x12 Shadowbox
  • Paint sample chip

I mixed the two parts of the Amazing Mold Putty until it was a solid yellow. I flattened it out to roughly the dimensions of the frame, and pushed the frame into the putty. Within a few moments, the putty had set and I was able to remove the frame.

The second step was to mix up the the Amazing Clear Cast Resin.

Of the two parts, the "A" side is thicker and a bit harder to control when pouring. The Alumilite Fluorescent (Flo) Green Dye is added to this measuring cup. You want equal amounts of liquid for both "A" and "B", so, if you add enough dye to change the volume, it's easier to adjust the "B" side.

I wanted a lighter color, so I only used a couple of drops. This photo of the dye on a toothpick is larger than life, lol! You don't need very much of this stuff!

After mixing the two sides, and letting the Amazing Clear Cast Resin cure overnight, I ended up with a beautiful bright frame. When I started, I still hadn't decided what I was going to do with it. After I had poured the resin though, I was cutting out those cool postage stamps to set aside as ephemera.

The next day I was looking for something (as I often do), and I came across my watercolor painting. What immediately struck me was how the colors resembled the green of my frame and the light purples and violets of my stamps. Ah hah! I knew what I could do to cover up that big ole rotten punched hole (and I apologize. I meant to photograph the painting at this point, and just plain forgot to do it).

I decided that I would embed the stamps inside the frame, and glue the whole thing to the painting, covering the tear.

I cut a paint sample chip I had to size and glued it to the back of the frame for a base. Then I loosely glued down one of the postage stamps. I mixed up a small amount of Amazing Clear Cast Resin, poured it inside the frame and let it set overnight.

I repeated this another two times embedding one of the other stamps each time so that there was some distrance between them.

My painting wasn't large enough to fill the shadowbox I had, so I took a piece of 12 x 12 scrapbook paper from 7Dots that I felt complimented my painting. I crumpled up the paper, and drizzled re-inkers (ink used to refill inkpads--they come with eyedroppers) down the crevices. Then I flattened the paper back out, glued down my painting, and glued down my bird stamp piece.

I put the whole thing into a shadow box. The Amazing Clear Cast Resin resembles encaustic, and even though you can't make out the birds from distance, the piece beckons you to come over and look closer. Who'd have thought bicycle chains and bird stamps would bring new life to a damaged painting?

HOOT - HOOT! Add some Character to your Message Board... AMAZING Inspiration by Michelle Frae Cummings

Have you ever wished that you had something more exciting for push pins? Some thing just as pretty to look at as the art you are pinning? I did! I love owls and was bored with my plain flat push pins.

So I made up some push pins from some small vintage owl keepsakes.

Small vintage owls like these bells and figurines work nicely.

I used Amazing Mold Putty, Amazing Casting Resin, and the new Violet, fluorescent green and fluorescent orange Alumilite Dyes. From start to finish, making these owl push pins took no more than 30 minutes! After the resin owls were cured, I simply glued the flat part of the push pins onto the backs of the owls with E-6000.

So easy!

How would you customize your pushpins

Ohhh the Possibilities with these Amazing Colors... AMAZING Inspiration from Brenda Burfeind

Brenda here again and I cannot tell you how excited I am about the NEW colors that Amazing Crafting Products just came out with. I got to play for a little while yesterday and I can honestly say I am in LOVE. I didn't get to test ALL the new colors, but love the outcome of what I did try. My all time favorite color is Purple and they just came out with an amazing Violet, SO beautiful. They also came out with 4 neon colors:

I know I will be creating something for my son
with the Fluorescent Green, his favorite color.

But, here is just a tiny sampling of what's to come.

1. Fluorescent Green (Flo Green) domino cast with Amazing Clear Cast Resin. It's not quite cured yet as it does take about 24 hours, but can you just see the potential in NEON?

2. Fluorescent Green (Flo Green) ornate piece cast with Amazing Casting Resin (see the color difference by using clear cast vs resin since that is a white based product?) The color possibilities are endless.

4. Fluorescent Orange (Flo Orange) cast with Amazing Casting Resin. I can't wait to try it with the Amazing Clear Cast Resin to bring out that NEON effect.

5. Fluorescent Orange (Flo Orange) cast with Amazing Casting Resin and highlighted with gold Rub 'n Buff®, (there again, bringing new color to an existing color).

6. Alumilite Violet Dye leaf cast with Amazing Casting Resin and washed with white pearl acrylic paint with more color highlighted.

So you can see how you can achieve SO many different colors using either the Amazing Casting Resin or the Amazing Clear Cast Resin.

I hope I've given you a little look into how colors can be changed up with a bit of creativity and a bit of imagination.
Thank you for joining me today and remember... "Creativity is a State of Mind". ~ Brenda
