A #Cre8time Rain Dance... AMAZING DIY Light Sculpture by Lara Hjorthoy

Hi Friends! It's Lara here to share my latest creation. Well this little how-to project has proven to be quite the undertaking!

I'm so thrilled to get to share with you what all the fuss has been! If you've been following me on Instagram and/or Facebook, you know I've had a project in the works for a few weeks... and I'm finally able to unveil it!!!

So without further ado...
a Rain Dance!

So I've been inspired as of late, by our nearly apocalyptic amount of rain that Vancouver has treated us to since the beginning of October! On last count, I think we had three days of sun... and every other day has been rain!

But unlike a lot of people, I don't mind the rain... and with Amazing Casting Products, I made the rain even MORE beautiful!

Using Super Sculpey, I first sculpted four orginal "raindrop" shapes in different sizes! Then using Amazing Mold Putty, I molded the raindrops twice – to get a series of eight "drops" that could be cast at once! The Mold Putty is so easy to use and it sets up so quickly... I was able to get all the molds made within a couple of hours!

Next with Amazing Clear Cast Resin, I mixed a batch of resin, using Alumilite Blue Dye and made my first set of blue raindrops! These took up to 2 days to cure, as it became suddenly very cold here in Vancouver. So I let them set to cure fully for 2 days – then over the next few days, made two more batches of raindrops, using smaller and smaller amounts of Alumilite Blue Dye in the resin mixture. That way, there is a variety of shades to play with when I constructing my project!

After all the drops were completed, Hubby and I spent an evening drilling holes into the top of each drop with a Dremel tool. We wet sanded the heck out of them too... to make them suuuuuper smooth to the touch!

Once they were smooth, I let them dry overnight. I took them outside on a cold winter day and sprayed the heck out of them with Krylon Triple Thick Clear Coat. That gave them this beautiful wet-like look! It was love!

Then began the slow and long construction process. For this, I gathered a foam wreath form from a dollar store and a set of LED lights (that were supposed to flicker), then wrapped the wreath with the lights and some wire – so that I had a "skeleton" of sorts to use for tying later. Then I formed some fluffy cotton stuffing around the wreath, to make my CLOUD!

Then I began stringing the drops with silver elastic cord and added small beads for decoration. This took a couple of days to complete... a bit hard on the back! LOL!

But finally, I used an old frilly ribbon to hang
the cloud from... and presto! It's COMPLETED!

Think how pretty something like this would be... GLOWING in YOUR home! Sure makes the rain something I actually want to being into my home!

What light feature could
you make for your home?

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial as much as I enjoyed making it for you!

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star... #Cre8time Resin Suncatchers by Bridget Cordero

As everyone prepares for Thanksgiving I'm still having a hard time letting go of summer and the warm, sunny weather. So to keep the sun shining through I created these cute sun catchers using Amazing Remelt, Amazing Clear Cast Resin and some bling.

To get started I found two metal cookie cutters, a star and a moon and melted some Amazing Remelt in the microwave. It takes about 2 minutes to melt one container – but this will also depend on your microwave. I normally start off at 1 minute and go from there.

Once liquefied I placed the cookie cutters into the
dish and put it in the freezer to harden.

When the Amazing Remelt was completely hardened I removed the cookie cutters and the center Remelt pieces. The negative voids will be my mold for the Amazing Clear Cast Resin.

I laid a piece of deli paper under my mold and sprayed it with mold release. I then made up a batch of Amazing Clear Cast Resin and poured it into the mold {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. As it was curing I sprinkled glitter, micro beads and shaped glitter into the resin.

After they cured about 24 hours, I popped them from the molds and decorated the tops of them with bling and eyelashes on the moons. Then I drilled a hole and laced with thread to hang them.

What cookie cutter shapes will you
transform into suncatchers?

Walk WITCH Way... #Cre8time Faux Stained Glass Suncatcher by Tracy Alden

Hello! Tracy here with another Amazing Crafting Products tutorial! My inspiration for this craft project came to me by the way of crafting deprivation! I know it sounds silly, but we have been doing massive renovations on our house and we had to pack everything up into two rooms, leaving the rest of the house to be worked on. So for over and week and a half my craft supplies have been in a packed room I couldn't get to. I was going stir crazy not working on arts or crafts! I finally had the opportunity to move and squeeze my way into the office with all of my craft supplies. The first things I found was a collection of Halloween items, my craft paint and my Amazing Clear Cast Resin. Then an idea hit me, why not make a faux stained glass piece using a laser cut wood sign I bought from Michaels?!

Supplies:

Michaels carries several different patterns and styles of laser cut signs this Halloween season, I just happened to like the "Witch Way" sign the best. It is very important to make sure you work surface is covered in parchment or a craft mat in case any resin spills or leaks. I like to use parchment paper more often than not because it is like having a blank canvas to work on, allowing you to see details you might miss.

I started with painting the front and back of the wood sign with black acrylic paint. I was careful to get the inside edges of the wood to make sure it was all coated and sealed by the paint. Making sure to let it dry completely.

I then applied Liquitex Gloss Varnish to the back and front of the wood sign. While the varnish is still wet I applied Ultra Fine Opaque Black glitter to the front side only. A second coat of varnish was applied to the front of the wood sign to seal in the glitter. It dried for several hours, as the varnish needed to be completely dry for the next step.

I cut strips of packing tape the width of the wood sign and applied it to the back of the sign. I burnished the tape onto the painted wood cutout, as this is very important to prevent Amazing Clear Cast Resin from leaking out the sides.

In a small measuring cups, I put 2 drops of dye per half cup of part "A" of Amazing Clear Cast Resin. I stirred in the Alumilite Dyes from left to right as such: Blue & Violet in the first cup, Violet in the second and Florescent "FLO" Orange and Brown in the third.

I then added the part "B" of Amazing Clear Cast Resin and stirred until both parts were combined {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. I let the resin sit for a few minutes to release any bubbles formed by stirring and then added Micro Fine Frost glitter to each cup.

I used a stir stick to carefully pour the colored resin into the open spaces of the wood sign. I wanted to create a look of a sunset, so the Blue/Violet tinted resin is the top, Violet to be in the middle and the Orange/Brown resin on the bottom. I was careful to put a small amount in each section first and then go back and add more resin if needed so I didn't overfill the spaces.

** You will notice at the top of the frame I left two holes unfilled of resin, these holes will be for waxed cord to be threader through to make a hanger.**

After I let the Amazing Clear Cast Resin sit for a few minutes, then I used a tooth pick blend the colors together with slight swirling motions. I added Ultra Fine Electra (Holographic) glitter to the top of the resin and let cure.

Once the resin was completely cured, I carefully removed the packing tape from the back and trimmed off any excess resin that might of leaked out of the tape. I then threaded through a waxed cord through the open holes.

With so many cutouts and frames available this Fall,
there are many different styles of faux glass you can create! :)

What AMAZING arts and crafts can you create?

Please share them on the user GALLERY on the Amazing Mold Putty Website!

Bright Sunshine and AMAZING Heartfelt Inspiration from Brenda Burfeind

Good Day! Brenda here once again to hopefully inspire you with some Heartfelt Creations. I don't know how many times I've said it, but I truly LOVE the Amazing Crafting Products we get to play with here. I've been so lucky to have gotten to be a part of such a great team leader and fellow designers. Daily I become more inspired and cannot wait to see what's next.

So with that I've been thinking quite a bit about Valentine's Day. I love decorating and celebrating that day. This year I decided on creating a suncatcher and a magnet to symbolize that day.

I started out with some Amazing Clear Cast Resin and both Alumilite Fluorescent "Flo" Red Dye and Alumilite Black Dye. Once I poured my mold I let it set up a little bit. Using a wooden skewer I dipped it into the red dye and gently dragged it through the resin in the mold. I did this a few times. Cleaning the skewer each time I dipped it back into the dye. I repeated the process with the black dye dragging it through the red and let it cure for 24 hours.

I love how some of the areas became almost feathery looking. Once it set up, I added a bit more of the  Amazing Clear Cast Resin the front of the "suncatcher" and let that dry. I added a ribbon and there it is...

For my second project I started with the Amazing Casting Resin,
which doesn't take but 5 to 10 minutes to set up.

I painted it red right away. I've found if you paint your molded piece immediately, it takes the paint better. I just used regular red acrylic paint.

Once the paint was completely dry I used my StazOn Jet Black ink pad
and inked up one of my favorite stamps and stamped the image directly onto the heart.

Because I used StazOn I was able to add some Amazing Clear Cast Resin
to the top immediately to make it all nice and shiny.

I added a magnet to the back and now I will always have
a beautiful remembrance of when Valentine's day is.

What kind of handmade crafts
are you making for Valentine's Day?

I hope I've inspired you to use some of these wonderful products and create your own suncatcher or magnet, or both. If you have any questions please leave a comment below and I will get them answered as soon as possible.

Thank you for stopping by and don't forget to check out all the designer's here and sign up to get email alerts... that's how you will always know what we're up to. To see more of my creations – I would love it if you came over to my blog Creativity is a State of Mind. ~ Brenda
