#Cre8time Love for Nature... DIY Painted Rocks by Melissa Johnson

Hello everyone! Today I am sharing a fun and easy Valentine's project that you can even include the kids in (I did!).

We have had some beautiful weather here in Texas, so we decided to take this project outside. I had the kids gather up some rocks with flat surfaces from our yard and we washed them in some soapy water.

Next, we painted on our rocks using Mod Podge
to create hearts and other designs.

Then we added some very fine glitter over the Mod Podge.

After my daughter and I painted our designs, I mixed up some Amazing Clear Cast Resin to coat the top of the rocks and make the glitter really sparkle!

It was so much fun that my son even got involved!

We set them out to dry overnight on a plastic garbage bag.

And here are the finished painted rocks :)

The resin coating makes the glitter POP!

#Cre8time Family Traditions... AMAZING Inspiration by Lyn Gill

Happy Holidays and family Traditions go hand in hand... my family is no different. Lyn Gill here again to share some of my families traditions with all of you. 40+ years ago my grandfather started this tradition where he would carve wooden pins/brooches or pendants for all of us. He was a wonderful woodcarver. It is a tradition I've felt compelled to continue.

So this year I chose Santa Hat pins for everyone. I created the original from Sculpey clay and then made an Amazing Mold Rubber mold of it. Then the sky was the limit! I had so much fun combining colors, finishes and glitters to make these fun pins.

I used Amazing Casting Resin, Amazing Clear Cast Resin, Alumilite Dyes, Alumilite Metallic Powders and some craft glitters from my own stash to create these Santa Hats for my Family.

So what are some of your
favorite family traditions?

AMAZING #Cre8time Holiday Treats... #Handmade Chocolate Gifts by Tracy Alden

Hello! Tracy here with another Amazing Casting Products inspired project! With the holidays just right around the corner there are so many last minute crafty details I have yet to finish. One of my favorite crafty details is a holiday tradition to make flavored fudge to give as gifts to family and friends. I normaly make up the fudge, pour it into a square baking pans to cool and cut up into bite size pieces to be wrapped. However I got to thinking how Amazing Remelt might help me make the fudge pieces look more festive!

Supplies:
 Fudge Recipe:
  • 12oz Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 can (14oz) Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp Kahlua Liqueur

I wanted to create little mini wrapped package pieces. The pieces needed to be created from something food safe so out came the fondant, such as I did with my Butter Pat Tutorial.

Starting with simple square and rectangle shapes to mimic packages, I rolled out some of the fondant thin to make a criss-cross ribbon pattern on each package. I let the fondant dry overnight in a warm, dry area until hard.

Once the pieces were fully dry (they will feel like a hard candy), I attached them to the inside of a plastic salad container with a little water. When dry fondant is touched with water it becomes tacky and sticky all over again, in this case sticking to the inside of the container.

I then sprayed all of the pieces lightly with cooking spray to act as a food safe mold release.

When heating up the Remelt I was careful to try heating it for 15 second intervals. Depending on how much Remelt you are trying to melt and how hot the microwave being used is, the time needed to melt can vary dramatically.

From a 12 -15 inch distance I poured the Amazing Remelt in the mold box – the distance gives the Remelt a chance to release more bubbles before cooling. I used a small toothpick to drag any bubbles caught in the Amazing Remelt before it cooled to make sure to get a better casting.

Once the Amazing Remelt was cooled, no longer warm or sticky to the touch, I was able to carefully remove the fondant pieces.

If the fondant pieces are a wee bit gooey and soft it is because of a excess of cooking spray but it will not harm the Remelt. The fondant pieces can be left to dry and reharden if you would like to cast them again. Anytime you create a mold with your original made from fondant you will have to gently clean the molds to remove any sugar or oil left from the casting process and left to air dry on a cutting board.

Before I started on mixing up the fudge I placed my Remelt mold in the freezer, chilling the mold, allowing the Amazing Remelt to tolerate warm foods being placed into the mold without the Remelt mold melting. However the rather cold mold accelerated the fudge cooling, not allowing it to pick up detail as seen in the first row on the left. So with the second batch of fudge I put the Remelt mold in the refrigerator for less than 20 minutes, giving the Remelt some coolness but still allowing the fudge to be pushed completely into the mold to pick up the detail, as seen in the middle row of fudge.

I combined all of the ingredients listed under the fudge recipe in a nonstick pot and slowly stirred the ingredients over a medium heat with a heat tolerant spatula until everything was mixed together and the chocolate melted. *Be very careful not to overcook the chocolate, it can burn easily.

Once the chocolate is smooth I carefully and quickly transferred the chocolate to the refrigerator cooled molds. *Careful the chocolate will be very hot!

Using a spatula, carefully I pushed the chocolate into the molds; the spatula helped push any air bubbles out. I then placed the molds back into the refrigerator, letting the chocolate set.

Once the chocolate was solid it was easy to pop out of the molds, place each piece on a square of wax paper and place them into boxes. With the help of Amazing Remelt I was able to create a new twist to a family tradition!

#Cre8time meets Vacation Memories... DIY Souvenir Wine Glass Candle by Tanya Ruffin

Making your own souvenirs with Tanya Ruffin for Amazing Mold Putty

Save yourself a little money by making your own souvenirs! Take all those shells your kids have collected and make a lasting souvenir of your vacation.

Materials:

Pour sand in the wine glass. This is going to replicate the ocean. This is the sand on the bottom of the sea, so fill it about 1/6th up.

Drop some shells on top of the sand, stick close to the outside edge of the glass (you won't be able to see the shells in the middle very well, so don't waste them). Mix up some Amazing Clear Cast Resin (clear) and slowly pour in wine glass. Avoid the side of the glass, you don't want clear drips down your glass. The resin will slowly soak into all the sand. You may see air bubbles. Let cure. It took about 3 hours for my clear resin to cure enough to move to the next step.

Using the Alumilite Blue Dye, mix a small amount into part "A" of your Amazing Clear Cast Resin. You want just a small amount!!! I made the mistake of thinking it would cure more transparent the first time and it did not! Start light – you can always make it darker. Let this cure over night.

Add a layer of Amazing Clear Cast Resin on top of the blue layer. You can throw in a shell or two if you like. I dropped a little sand on the top after it had cured a little while. I decided to do this clear layer before I added more sand because on a test glass, the sand actually fell all the way through the blue in a few spots. The clear layer will seal the blue water layer and keep it separate from the sand.

What Will You SAVE now?

Now add some more sand and position your glass votive in the center. You can start arranging more shells. After you have the shells arranged you can add more Amazing Clear Cast Resin. I let the resin cure for a few hours then added more shells and more resin.

I love how it looks! You may see air bubbles coming up from the sand and need to add more Amazing Clear Cast Resin as it starts to soak into the sand.

Measure the bottom of your glass so you can use a computer to layout text.

I used CorelDRAW – but you can use any software that lets your curve text. Print it out and place glass under the print out and trace with a glass marker.

Now light your candle and reflect on your vacation.

With all the money you saved on souvenirs you have a jump start paying for the next trip! Think about how much grandma would love a gift like this made from shells her grand kids collected. This is much better than a "I went to the Caymans and all i got was this lousy t-shirt" shirt!!!

Until Next Time... ~ Tanya

Taking #Cre8time back to the 80's... DIY Gelly Style Resin Bracelets by Isabel Villarreal

Bracelets are a great way to accessorize and bangle bracelets are always fun, but what if you could make a flexible band bracelet in your own style and colors? As a member of the design team I've been given the great opportunity to play around with resin and explore the different possibilities.

This is Isabel  and I know you don't usually associate flexibility with resin but I'd love to share this with you to show how truly flexible resin jewelry can be.

I started by making a template using some advertising flyers by cutting and layering 4 oblong strips and adding a few fun details. I used some cameo buttons and a few 3D glitter shapes then added some foam pieces to the ends to give the bracelet some shape. All the details were held in place with removable glue dots so that I can change the design to suit my mood. Using Amazing Mold Putty, I created a mold that I could then use to make this bracelet in the colors of my choosing. Make sure your paper template fits correctly around your wrist. You'll want to leave some space for a clasp.

I used Amazing Clear Cast Resin and mixed in the barest amount of Alumilite Dye to fill the 3D shapes {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. After letting it cure for a couple of hours – I poured a slightly lighter layer of resin on top in a thin layer. The total thickness of this bracelet is about 1/8". The fact that the layer is so thin makes for a much more flexible shape. I removed it from the mold while it was still soft and allowed it to finish drying on a teflon craft sheet. The finished pieces look really cool with the shapes in a slightly contrasting color.

The edges were a little uneven so I used a file to smooth down the rougher areas, then drilled holes on each end and added some jump rings and a lobster claw to finish it off.

You can see here that the Amazing Mold Putty duplicated the shiny glitter effect – so the details have a slight glint to the surface. These bracelets are flexible and strong enough to follow the curve of your wrist and then flatten out when you take them off.

I'll be making these in a variety of colors and trying out a few different variations using other details. Now that I have my template, I can change it around to create unlimited looks.

What will you create with

I'd love to see what you create! Please upload and share your creations to the

Embossing Powder gets REAL and Rustic...
AMAZING Inspiration by Tracy Alden

Hello! Tracy here with another inspiration post using Amazing Crafting Products! This time I wanted to show a wonderful way to use embossing powder on Amazing Casting Resin to give it rusty and old look. It takes a few easy steps but looks wonderful in the end.

I started with a favorite saying of mine: “If at first the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it.” by Albert Einstein. It reminds me to think well of the weirdest ideas and I wanted it as a wall decor piece in my craft room. I felt the look of a old metal and stone wall plaque with strange elements would add interest to the saying. This is were my junk drawer comes into play.

*Never underestimate the creative power
of a junk drawer full of old stuff!

Starting with a slab of polymer clay, I stamped the saying one letter at a time into the clay. Then I applied texture, metal bits from the junk drawer and old beads as I did in my Lapel Pin Post

I applied Amazing Mold Putty in smaller portions as shown in my Wall Plaque Post to catch more detail with the mold material and to create a more rustic surface.

Before pouring any Amazing Casting Resin into the mold, I used a soft bristle brush to dust the inside of a mold with Alumilite Metallic Powders

Once the Amazing Casting Resin was cured and I removed the resin cast from the mold, I then cut and sanded off any excess cured resin spills and raw edges.

I mixed the acrylic paint with some water to make a color wash and applied it with a paint brush. I used a paper towel to remove the excess. Carefully I traced all of the letters with a permanent marker to make them visually pop more.

Sparingly I applied embossing powder adhesive to the edges, corners and grooves. I applied layers of brown, black, tan, red, green and clear embossing powders to get a old aged look. I used a heat gun to set the embossing powder in place.

One more acrylic color wash was applied to give it that final aged look. I then sealed the embossing powder and paint covered resin piece with Liquitex Matte Varnish. This same embossing powder application technique can be used on any other Amazing Casting Resin project you can imagine!
