#Cre8time Explorations... DIY Butterflies with Michele Kosciolek

Hello friends! Michele here... I am in spring cleaning mode in my craft room and came across a butterfly knob that I stashed away to mold on a rainy day. Well since I found it and it happened to be raining, I got busy molding and casting.

I used Amazing Mold Putty to mold the knob.

I sized my mold putty just a tad smaller than the knob.

Because when you push item into

the Amazing Mold Putty it will spread.

Just look at all the detail! This mold can be used a couple of ways, to mold the entire butterfly or just the wings.

Next I cast with Amazing Clear Cast Resin, but first I painted some Alumilite Pearlescent Powder in the mold.

First the pearlescent on the wings, and then

a little bronze metallic powder on the body.

I mixed the Amazing Clear Cast Resin and poured into the mold – right over the powder.

I had a bit of the resin left so I grabbed a dictionary page that I want to use as a page in a book I will be making at a workshop this month... never waste leftovers!!

For the next casting, I used Amazing Casting Resin mixed with brown Alumilite Dye. I wanted it to look like Bronze so first I used the Bronze Metallic Powder in the mold.

These two casts from the same mold turned out so different!!

I am really looking forward to seeing how using

 just the wings works out too. What a versatile mold!

How does your #Cre8time Garden Grow... Amazing Inspiration from Susan M. Brown {sbartist}

Hello Everyone... Susan here sharing some amazing inspiration... an upcycled mixed media project full of sunshine using Amazing Casting Products!

This project is a compilation of bits of this and that on my craft room table inspired by some castings of a house created from an embroidery kit frame molded using Amazing Mold Putty. I had one of these in a baggy with some scraps of papers, embellishments and ribbon – seems like a perfect time to do some Cre8time SPRING cleaning!

I monoprinted a pattern onto a leftover section of muslin fabric using my Amazing No-Gelatin Rubber Plate impressed with large bubble wrap into the white paint to make a nice muted sky background. To this I add some stamped foilage and stencil sprayed sunrays, then begin layering my assortment of ephemera, trim, gems and dimensional items.

I cut a section of painted patterned paper to fit behind my cast resin house. Inside a cast resin domino with sticky back gems for window {molded in Amazing Mold Rubber cast in Amazing Casting Resin}, a mini metal bicycle charm, green burlap trim, and pen doodling make this house a home... topped off with a green gingham bow! With the addition of a pearled flower as a "sun"... this sunny garden scene is complete!

Sealed with a #Cre8time Kiss... DIY Springtime Frame by Maria Soto

Today I want to share a nice project I made using an inexpensive wood frame that I purchased at Michael's {similar to this one}.

I really had no idea what I was going to do with this frame, so many ideas came to mind. I figured this would be a simple project, and I let my creative ideas just come to me as I worked on this piece. 

First thing I did was decided on two colors to use – since we are still waiting for Spring to come here in Indiana, I thought why not use red and yellow acrylic paints... they remind me of the warmth from the sun. I painted the frame and left it alone for a couple of days waiting for some more ideas to come to me.

One day I was working on some resin projects and had quite a bit of Amazing Clear Cast Resin left, I usually just pour extra resin into old molds but this time I thought why not use the extra resin to cover the front of this frame and make it look like it's all glass; so I took a foam make-up applicator and applied the resin over the entire front of the frame. 

   

The Amazing Clear Cast Resin is so easy to mix and use, and depending on the climate where you live, it can start to set within 30 minutes of mixing. Just remember to use equal amounts of both parts "A" and "B" to make sure your resin sets perfectly {CLICK HERE for full mixing instructions}. The photos show how the painted frame looks after adding the clear resin.

It was then that I thought about adding some flowers to the frame and I noticed the tiny clear beads I had taken out to used on my other resin projects and figured these would give the frame a bit of dimension. I added these tiny clear beads on some parts of the red areas, and next it was time to add some flowers on the resin before it all sets. I also took some paper and fabric flowers and tiny butterflies and added these over the resin, playing around a bit. I was able to move the flowers from one area to another until I was happy with the placement, as long as the resin has not started to set, you can move your embellishments around like I did here. 

Once I was happy with the look of the frame I let it set over night. There's no glass in the photo section of this frame but the frame itself looks like it's all covered in glass thanks to the Amazing Clear Cast Resin. A very simple project, but very pretty and ready for a nice photo of the kids to give to Grandma as a gift, or for me to keep at the office... just a nice "Spring" like frame.

#Cre8time Transformations... Vintage Floral Pocketwatch Pendant by Lyn Gill #FlowerPower

Hey everyone! It's Lyn from LynzCraftz again, here to share some Spring inspiration with you today. The weather is turning sunny and warm... and the flowers are sprouting up everywhere. 

My Hubby has had this old pocketwatch for some time and since it was broken, I knew I could do something with it... make mold of it, why not! I used some Amazing Mold Putty and created a mold of it along with a vintage flower from a hair clip then poured some Amazing Casting Resin in them. I've combined these to create a vintage floral pocketwatch pendant.

With a little paint and some gold and silver leaf, I went to work adding some color and texture. I really love the vintage feel I was able to create on this pendant... perfect for Spring!

#Cre8time Critters in the Flower Garden... by Lara Hjorthoy #FlowerPower

Hello Fellow Creatives! Lara here and I'm so thrilled to start my time here at Amazing Casting Products, as part of their Creative Team!

Today, I'm going to share a little flower inspired Monster today, FLORA! After all April showers bring May Flowers! And on Monsters no less!!! Watch those hands while gardening my friends, she's sure to give you a tickle!

I first created Flora using Super Sculpey and cooked

her in the oven as per instructions.

Then created a mold box using corroplast {plastic foam core} and hot glue. I find this makes for a really strong box. You'll notice the tin foil flashing around the top of this box. I realized after adding Flora to the box, that she was a bit too tall for the box, so adding the flashing, makes sure I can pour the Amazing Mold Rubber completely over the top of her head.

Before I added the Mold Rubber, I chopped up an older mold that I wasn't using anymore and added the bits as a filler to portions of the box. This allows me to use less of the Mold Rubber in the end – a neat trick I learned on one of the many available videos on YouTube!

Then I prepared a batch of Amazing Mold Rubber, then filled up her mold and waited the 2-4 hours for it to set up. I live in a humid environment and it sets pretty quickly here! CLICK HERE to view mixing and preparation.

I love that I can wait such a short period of time, and then begin the casting process! It's a one day job and I can wind up with an army of creatures! When the mold has cured and I've removed it from the box, I snipped a tiny bit along the bottom edge, where her head is (the mold locked her into place and she was very hard to remove, I clamped the sides down with some foamcore and clamp tape, to keep it strong). 

I then mixed and poured the resin. I love this stuff. Amazing Casting Resin sets up in an incredibly short time! You can watch it even as it starts to cure! CLICK HERE to view mixing and preparation.

Within 10-20 minutes, I have a Flora! All ready to go to be painted up!!!

And then... in no time, an entire army of Flora's!

My cat went insane!

For the painting process, I always have a reference, and let me tell you, the world has some beautiful lizards out there! There is sooooo much inspiration for colors it's hard to choose!

I decided this time, to keep her in spring mode, and chose this little guy as her paint scheme.

Airbrush, brushes, toothbrushes and more are used to get the texture's she needs, but in no time! She's completed!!! Welcome to Spring little monster Friend! I hope you enjoyed the process of FLORA! And that she inspired your own Monster Creations!
